The Hartley Vale Garlic Farm was established in 2018 as an organic garlic farm now owned by James and Michelle and their two children. The farm features a hempcrete building named 'The Stinking Rose' used for drying and curing garlic, that also acts as a big room for garlic feasts during planting (March, April and May each year). The building also houses toilet and shower facilities for guests when camping on site. On some evenings, the sky puts on a real show of golden sun rays with pink, purple and blue clouds while swallows flit across the garden beds catching moths. Our guests like to sit around their campfires watching the spectacular show while kids and dogs run around without the burden of leashes or noise of city traffic.

Please note that Hipcamp has increased my fees by 100%. This is on top of whatever they charge you. So contact me for special camping packages that include other optional extras that may save us money for larger groups. Also please note that due the closure of the Great Western Highway there is currently an increase in traffic volume going past our property. Our usually quite nights are not as quiet. The campers I have had since this has happened did not seem to be too impacted by it, but if you are wanting complete quietness then maybe wait until the Highway is re-opened. Our property is located in the Blue Mountains, nestled right in the middle of the national park and all that the Blue Mountains bush has to offer. Gums, ferns, fresh air and swimming holes. I only allow one group to camp at any one time per site. Other groups will be well away from you. However the dam is available for everyone to use. I adjust each booking with each group depending on size of the group and time of year. I also hold large events so will book out the entire site for large groups. Just a short drive from Sydney (1 ½ hours from Parramatta) but a world away with its ancient forests and meandering pathways. All photos are from the site or within a 2km walk of the camping site in National Park or reserve. Please note that the canyon photos are from a spot that is very difficult to get to. I welcome self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. However there are facilities on site for smaller groups at an extra cost. The property offers a number of sites that can accommodate various group numbers. Please message me if you're interested in booking one or more listings for your special get together. Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly, but no cats please. Also please be aware that we are surrounded by nature and part of nature are the snakes and ticks. - we need to keep this environment for the wildlife. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. Leave it better than as you found it. Please be aware that due to our proximity to the road and rail that at times you will hear some traffic noise. But most times it is very quiet except for the frogs.

Platypus Waterhole is rented out as one site exclusive to the booking. This exclusivity allows our guests complete privacy. We are located on a cattle property less that two hours out of the rush and business of cities. Our camping site is suitable for groups up to 20 people. The camp site is close to two creeks, Blackheath Creek and Little Stoney Creek where the protected Platypus are frequently seen, along with our wombats and kangaroos. Cox’s River is a ten minute drive suitable for swimming and fishing. We have a compost toilet, outdoor shower (restricted water) covered camp kitchen with tap water from tank, BBQ, fire pit indoors/outdoors, table, chairs, sleeping area, tent area, shade trees, picturesque site. . We charge all guests a one-off exclusivity site fee. This applies to all guests whether you book one night or seven nights. You need to add this to your booking. This is an exclusive private camping area on the beautiful Blackheath Creek. The camping area has a fantastic shelter/camp kitchen with internal fireplace, wood fired stove, sink, running water & a preparation area together with a gas BBQ & large dining table with bench seats. There is hot water and an open air shower. A long drop toilet is located nearby. At night the shelter is lit by solar powered lights & the glow of the campfire. The shelter is accessible by 4WD. Dogs are not permitted. Limited firewood is provided. Firewood can be purchased at $50 for a generous bundle. It is not possible to know how much firewood is required for your stay so during winter please take this into consideration.

I've been here before and love coming here. The site is isolated so there's lots of privacy. I always love seeing all the amazing wildlife around, plenty of black cockatoos during this trip. The toilet is a welcome addition to the site. I'll be back again.

Weekend Trip to Windy Oaks Farm, O'Connell

Beautiful riverside campsite with a peaceful setting and great views. The night was especially memorable, the Milky Way was incredibly clear and made for an amazing stargazing experience. During the day, we could spot trout in the river, which was really fun even though we did not manage to catch any. A lovely spot to relax and enjoy nature.

Car camped at Megalong for 1 night. Beautiful expansive site overlooked by the mountains, plenty of room for everyone to have privacy, informative welcoming check in, clean facilities and hot shower with good water pressure, animals around site are lovely and also spotted kangaroos in the early morning. Town of Blackheath very close with shops, cafes and local hikes., Would definitely visit again.

We loved camping at Megalong Farm. Boz the friendly chocolate lab kept us company some days. The donkeys, alpacas and Shetland ponies will come and say hi too. Shower and toilet facilities are clean. The scenery is just beautiful. We will be back!!!

It was a beautiful place to stay, really great instructions on finding the place. We were in a Nissan X-trail 2010 and a spaceship van and both could easily get to the property. It felt very private, we didn’t see or hear anyone else. Ground was very flat to park and sleep. The only downside, which may depend on the season (early May) there were some bigger ants around so would always wear enclosed shoes!

Enjoyed our hike but the trails are definitely more suited for dirt bikes and 4WDs. Vehicles noise means not much wildlife. But if you don’t mind sharing the trail with drivers and climbing very steep rocky paths, it’s very enjoyable. Good hiking boots are a must.
