I spent four nights here with my dog, Max, because I needed to escape the noise and pressure of city life. I've always loved the idea of a rustic log cabin in the woods, and Annabelle's Hideaway is exactly that.
The hand-built Canadian-style log cabin is beautifully decorated and feels like stepping back in time, while still offering thoughtful comforts like a clean eco toilet, a kitchen with a sink, and a hot shower with an incredible view.
Within two nights I was sleeping right through until morning for the first time in years. The simple rhythm of cooking over the fire, collecting water from the creek (or using the tank water provided), no phone reception, and complete peace helps you slow down and leave the stress of everyday life behind. Before long, the sounds of traffic and notifications are replaced by birdsong and silence.
If you're looking to truly disconnect and recharge, I can't recommend this place highly enough.
PS I used my almost 30 year old 4x4 on demand Honda CR-V and it handled the step right driveway easily with so slip at all but I had good weather with no rain. In wet weather you'll probably need low range 4WD to get back up. You can walk it from the gate however.

Just unpacked our bags from our stay at The Hideaway - miss it already! After reading the reviews, I trusted my gut & booked Annabelle's cabin for a surprise anniversary getaway. The whole experience was unreal from the drive up to the mountains & into the forest. We were greeted by lush nature & animals. Definitely a 4WD route which our little Jeep handled well.
Getting into the property was even more magical. The quaint cabin was completely surrounded by trees. Inside was a well-made queen bed - cosy pillows, quilts & a dining set for 2. The amazing potbelly stove kept us warm for 2 nights.
The modern outhouse had an eco toilet, a rainwatern shower with shower stuff & toilet paper lovingly supplied. An adequate kitchenette at the side had a double sink, pans, kettle & dish soap. The bbq was out of use at the time of our stay due to a missing hose. She let us know ahead so we brought our a camping stove. (Pls check at the time of your booking if this has been sorted).
I've saved the best for last - the firepit - which my husband loved the most! There's plenty of firewood for our entire stay. Bit of a struggle to keep the fire going when it's been raining but that's the whole point of going off-grid! You just forget about your phone & let nature take over - watching the fire, foraging mushrooms & exploring the path down the river. Thank you for sharing your beautiful piece of heaven, Annabelle. It's the perfect glamping adventure for city folk who wish to disconnect!

This little secluded log cabin was the perfect escape for us and our two dogs. All the instructions were clear and easy to use and we really appreciated the off-grid creature comforts while still feeling the whole camping experience. Cabin bed was amazing too! Would return and would recommend for couples!

Such a wonderful place to get away for a few nights. The cabin was perfect, and the pot belly stove a bonus, especially as it was zero degrees at night. Plus, having an off-grid hot shower was definitely a luxury. We loved it all, especially the peace and quiet. We slept in our rooftop tent and used the cabin as our place to relax. It would’ve definitely been far more cosy to sleep in the cabin, but we love our set up for sleep, so braced with the cold. Oberon was just a short 10-15 min drive away, where you could get pretty much all you need. Highly recommend Annabelle’s place for those campers who love a little bit of luxury without all the jazz.

We absolutely loved our recent stay at the cabin in the woods! What a gem to find. Staying here felt like we had stepped into a classic Australian storybook! Nestled privately in a tree cleared area, the wooden cabin was very well presented, neat, tidy and well maintained. The cozy potbelly stove inside the cabin kept us warm and toasty and the outdoor kitchenette area and compost environmental toilet was very clean and well stocked. The hot wood fired shower was an absolute bonus! Our furbabies had the absolute best time and were exhausted by the end of our stay. We are frequent off the grid campers and our stay in the cabin felt like luxury to us. A 4WD is a must for access to and from the cabin. Communication with Annabelle was outstanding. Very timely and all our questions were answered. Thank you so much for having us at your property, Annabelle! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful spot for a quiet and peaceful time away. The cabin and amenities are all in very good condition. Antique pot belly stove heats up to keep you very toasty.

We stayed 2 nights at Annabelle’s hideaway and absolutely loved it! It’s the perfect little spot to be out in nature and enjoy a beautiful sunrise and sunset on the property!
We were extremely impressed with the amenities! And what was provided onsite. The bathroom (green loo) and shower was clean and well stocked! There was an outdoor kitchen area as well with a camping cooker, bbq and a few basics.
The cabin was our favourite! It was extremely clean and so very cozy! It got quite cold outside but the little fire heater in the cabin was fantastic. The location was easy enough to find and close to Oberon town and many little spots and only about 40 minutes to Bathurst. Would definitely recommend, as my husband, our dog Ziggy and I had a wonderful time here :) 💛

Such a beautiful location! Everything you need to have a pleasant stay. Bed is comfy, cabin is actually really cosy and well insulated, hot shower, plenty of cooking utilities, and very secluded. Autumn is a great time to go, plenty of pine forest mushrooms and blackberries around!

Picture perfect cabin in the bush. I couldn't have been happier staying here. Cosy little log cabin that's set up really nice inside and the added luxury of the toilet, coil heated shower & kitchen area. This was just amazing & if you're a bird watcher your basically in bird heaven. I've never seen/heard so many yellow tail black cockatoos in my life. And the icing on the cake is that it's pet friendly.

Amazing place, felt like a proper North American log cabin. Lots of options for cooking including a full barbecue. The hot shower was pretty impressive for a homemade job.
I'd echo what other reviewers have said about 4wd or AWD. We took my 2wd paddock basher in and made it but not recommended as we needed to walk about 200m with our stuff. Annabelle very upfront about it which we appreciated.
We will be coming back, if you'll have us :)

What a beautiful spot for an unplugged weekend - a big stand out for us was how clean the cabin, toilet and shower all were, it felt like a little piece of luxury. Love that the place is pet friendly - my old greyhound set up on the veranda of the cabin and seemed to have a lovely time enjoying watching the world pass by. I would recommend ensuring you have a 4WD for the driveway access. Thank you for having us Annabelle, we’d love to come back again and experience a cosy winter weekend here.

We didn’t end up getting to stay at the cabin as we couldn’t get into the drive way. Would definitely recommend taking a four wheel drive if you are going after rain. Annabelle was lovely and did everything she could to help but it just didn’t work out. So would definitely recommend Annabelle as she was friendly, kind and helpful.

The perfect hideaway!! We had a lovely weekend and saw so much wildlife. It was so nice to dip our feet in the stream on a warm sunny day. And the shower was luxury when it was chilly in the evening! The cabin was so cosy and comfy. Would definitely recommend, and hope to come back one day. Next time will have to bring binoculars to watch the birds. Thank you Annabelle and Drew.

We absolutely loved our weekend away to the cabin! It was extremely cold, but the fire pit and the indoor fireplace definitely helped.
It’s a lovely location, beautiful night sky, and you feel completely isolated.
We had a few issues with our car and the hosts were extremely helpful, Even coming to tow us out of trouble! Very friendly people and extremely helpful.
I recommend this stay to anyone looking for a little escape, Just be prepared to collect a lot of firewood if you come during winter 😁

We loved this log cabin! The site is completely private set in a beautiful location. Annabelle has made this space truly special with great amenities to make your stay really comfortable whilst enjoying the wildlife and scenery. Highly recommend!
