The Meadow is a more private campsite that is a 5 minute hike into the woods beyond the Farm campsite.  You will need to park up by the farm and pack in everything you will need down the trail to enjoy privacy and peace in a tiny secluded forest meadow.  A wheelbarrow can be borrowed to help carry back your camping supplies.

Leave your stress behind with a short ferry ride to Anderson Island in Pierce County, WA.  (Please check the Pierce County Ferry website for ferry times and tickets for vehicle & driver, plus a separate ticket for passengers.  Plan to be at least 45 minutes early for the ferry.)  Four Ewe Ranch, 10-acre forested working homestead, is the perfect place to unwind.   Wake to roosters crowing and sheep baa-ing.  Forage for wild mushrooms and native edible food such as salal berries, nettle, and blackberries.  Garden fresh herbs, fresh eggs, and vegetables are available in season.  Feed the chickens & ducks, get a llama kiss, or chat with Uncle George, a friendly Nubian goat.  For even more fun, within biking distance you can explore island parks and trails.  Four Ewe Ranch is a welcoming private hideaway.

What a great spot! It was fun to camp right by all the animals and be greeted by them when we arrived. The host was very gracious and accomdating. Anderson Island was also a great spot to explore. If you have kids, visit the swimming hole.

Anderson Island is truly special and has no public lodging so Four Ewes Ranch was truly a gift. But that it offered adorable farm animals, a very private campsite as well as a easy access one for us with less mobility, well, I am already looking forward to my next stay!

The tail to the meadow site ( think tiny!) has the delicious feeling that very few feet have stepped where you are going before you. Rich greenery are enlivened by the occasional wild rose, foxglove and blackberry plant. The rock ring fire area evokes pioneer days when this island was still wild and hardly visited.

If you opt to stay in the easy-access spot, you have the delightful view of 'the Watchman", a Llama-Alpaca hybrid that keeps his adorable eyes on you. A happy clutch of chickens and ducks toddle about and were quieter than I expected. As a bonus, the hostess has solar fairy lights, a pretty cafe table, a guide to the area and some fresh flowers waiting! And a fire pit and firewood to complete your experience.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. The watchman you described is named Crackerjack and he's the farm guardian. All the animals love visitors. You and your lovely family are welcome any time!

This was our first time taking our boys camping and we all had a great time. The site was clean and better than expected and the host was very accommodating. We couldn't have had a better time. Michelle was quick to respond to questions before we got there and was helpful with making sure we had what we needed while camping. We will definitely be back!

This is a fun little experience with a whole plethora of critters to hang out with and see. We stayed in the meadow which is a little off the beaten path so my advice is to pack light (A cart is provided to help ferry goods but its still a couple minute trek through the woods). All garbage needs to be packed off the island so make sure to include extra trash bags and room in the car. Its rustic but if you love the sounds of a farm and seeing cute little animals you'll love this place, it was an amazing experience.

Thank you for your feedback. Because it’s such a hassle to haul garbage, we now provide bags that are allowed to be disposed of in the LeMay dumpster by the ferry dock.

I absolutely loved staying at the Four Ewe Ranch! Michelle was super accommodating and very knowledgeable about the local environment. Cracker Jack the llama was a bit ornery but a respectable and magnificent animal all the same. Highly recommended!

Thanks for your kind review, Joshua! I enjoyed hosting you also. Hope you come back around this way again some day and have more time to check out all the critters and fun to be had on the island!

We had a terrific time at Four Ewe Ranch! Michelle was friendly and accommodating. There’s a menagerie of animals to meet and our girls loved feeding the goat left over food. Make sure to bring bug repellent. The swimming hole was less than a mile from camp and it had flush toilets. We loved this place and will defiantly stay here again when we camp on the island.

The Meadow feels very secluded and is a nice cleared campsite with a great firepit. Michelle was a wonderful host and we appreciated the water station and campfire wood ready at the site when we arrived. The site is a short drive to the nearby swimming hole which was a great all day activity. On top of it all we loved all the animals, including the 2 alpacas and the llama!

Uncle George the goat!

If you love farm animals you’d love it here. Kids have had a wonderful time bonding with the nature and the animals. The old swimming hole is less than a mile away for lake swimming and the kids love the water slide! There’s also a little beach for younger kids to play with the sand.
