To begin at the beginning, Hickory Run Park Campground is freaking huge. So is the surrounding park, which stretches out over the awesome foothills of the Poconos and rocks 44 miles of trails. Site options range from rustic group tenting areas to deluxe cottages, and no matter where you stay you’ll be within easy walking distance of Sand Spring Lake, a placid diamond in the rough of some of the park’s more rugged and wild features. Enjoy the beach, stream fishing and totally rad Boulder Field, a unique attraction that’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like.

Very crowded - they really crammed the sites close together. Not enough bathrooms/showers for the amount of people they pack in there. The saving graces of this place are the absolutely fantastic hiking trails and the 10 minute drive to Lehigh Gorge State Park. Jim Thorpe WaterAdventures offer kayaking and rafting down the Lehigh River, but hiking or biking the gorge is just as fun!

I'd echo the review about too many sites/too crowded. So many families that it felt a little awkward being there without kids (which may be a selling point if you do want to camp with kids). The hiking was okay, but even the trails marked just marked for hikers felt like ATV trails. It would have been awesome to go in May/June--there were SO many rhododendrons , but late July is well past bloom.
