Camp on a working Luxury Fiber Farm. Pasture or woods camping available by tent. Perfect for minimalists! Our lowest rate that still gives you the farm experience without extras.

We are excited to welcome you to our farm.  Just to be clear, this stay DOES NOT come with the use of the bathroom and kitchen facilities in the farmhouse. If you choose this listing, we expect you to be self sufficient and have made your own arrangements for toilets and food storage. If you want to use the farmhouse amenities, please book the other listing. We have a few rules that we ask you to follow to make your families stay on the farm a wonderful one.  Many of our guests are not familiar with farm life and we want to make certain everyone stays safe (both the campers and the farm animals!)

Some important rules of the farm.

  • Please do not enter the barn or any farm structure without a farmer.
  • When entering or exiting the farm, please drive slowly.  You never know when something with feathers or fur may be wandering about.
  • Many of our fences are high tensile electric.  Ouch! Please be careful.
  • Never chase the animals.  If they want to interact with you, they will come to the fence to be pet, or if they are in the pasture with you, they will approach you for attention.
  • Never feed the animals, they are fed twice a day feed appropriate for their species.  If you would like to help with farm chores, let us know and we will be happy to include you.
  • The alpacas will be released into their pasture during the day, which you may be camping in, so always close gates after you.  Alpacas are very quiet, shy creatures.  They may be curious of you but they are perfectly safe to be around.
  • Never,  EVER,  go in with the yaks or the sheep.  Bulls and rams are not always friendly to strangers if they are concerned their females may be threatened.
  • The main gate for the farm is closed every night to prevent any animals from leaving the property and accidents occurring.  If you need to leave, please close the gate after you.
  • We have several friendly barn cats, they enjoy visiting with our guests, please let us know if they are pestering you.
  • If you have a dog with you, please keep it on a leash at all times, although our animals are used to dogs, they are not familiar with yours.
  • We use Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs, they will not be released while you are camping but may bark if they sense something disturbing their livestock.  We also have an old friendly brown farm dog, named Yeti, who doesn’t see or hear well.  He likes to bark at everyone but is not threatening.
  • We have a pet mute swan named Bopeep.  She is usually on the pond but sometimes wanders around and you might find her up by the farmhouse or outside the barn, please don’t be alarmed.
  • Our chickens and ducks are usually in the hen house.  However, the roosters, have free range to wander about, they are perfectly safe and will not bother you.

We are a WORKING farm.  What does that mean?

  • All of our livestock is raised to provide a farm commodity, in our case, amazing fiber to be used for fiber arts such as spinning, weaving , knitting and all sorts of crafting.  These are not “pets” but animals that we treasure for their ability to produce a commodity.
  • There are times that our livestock is in season and breeding activity will occur.  Please understand that privacy is not important to animals and they do not mean to offend you with their antics.
  • Our animals will give birth to their young, outside with the herd.  This is completely normal.  If you see an animal in labor or birthing, please give it space and stay back.  If you are concerned, you are always welcome to call or come and get a farmer to check.
  • Sometimes animals get sick or hurt.  We do our best to keep a very healthy herd of animals but things happen in life.  Any animal that is penned separately in the barn is there for treatment, please do not approach them as they are not feeling their best.  If you think any of our animals need attention, please do not approach them or try to help.  We are more them happy to check out any situation that may concern you. Further, we have animals that are aged, some have arthritis, we have a couple that limp from former issues.  They are not suffering, this is their normal state of being.  An animal that gets up, eats and moves with their herd is in a good place and is content.
  • Our animals go to the bathroom outside and don’t always choose the perfect place.  We work hard to keep the farm clean but please watch where you step.

Questions we are frequently asked

  • Can I help with farm chores?  Yes, just let us know and we will be happy to include you.
  • Can I interact with the animals?  Yes, on your own you are welcome to pet any animal that comes to the fence to interact.  If you want a private introduction, please ask a farmer to assist you.
    • Some popular activities that require a farmer are:  hanging out with the goats,  taking an alpaca for a walk, collecting eggs from the hen house, visiting the rabbit barn to see the bunnies, feeding treats to any of the animals.
  • Can I ride your horses or ponies?  No, our horses and ponies are not available to take off the farm or ride independently on the farm.   If you want pony rides for any youngsters in your group, that can be arranged with Gracie for an additional fee.
  • Can I shop in the fiber shop?  Yes, our hours are 10am to 5pm, Wednesday to Sunday, after those hours, please ask us for assistance.
  • Can I take a fiber arts class?  Yes, classes are available, but we rarely can accommodate last  minute requests.  Please make your reservation for classes in advance.

I am on the “My tent and more” plan, what does that include?

  • There are two full bathrooms that are available through the fiber shop entrance.  One is in the lab and one is in the studio.  Please be courteous, these are not used by my family but if there is more then one camping group you may be sharing with them.
  • There is a full sized kitchen sink and a refrigerator in the lab area for your use.  If you need to cook on a burner, please let us know and we will be happy to assist you.  Again, understand that we allow two groups to camp at a time, you may be sharing these facilities with another guest.
  • Please understand you are entering our home and place of business, be courteous and don’t open any doors that are shut.  There are security cameras in the fiber shop, lab,  and studio, however, the bathrooms are private.
  • The driveway alarm lets us know when anyone enters or exits the farm and the door alarm will let us know when anyone enters or exits the house.  We get a lot of visitors and this is for our security.
  • Please do not enter any door of the farmhouse except the fiber shop entrance.

We are here to help you have an enjoyable stay on our little piece of the world.  If we can help you or answer any question, just give us a shout.

If you've ever been curious about staying at a farm - definitely check out Hidden Pastures. It's a very different experience from normal camping as the animals are totally accessible and can (and will) roam near your tent. There are two camp sites - if you like being near animals then you can choose to stay on the pastures- which is on an open field free for animals to come and wander. For those who prefer a bit more privacy you can stay closer to the "river" site. The alpacas are adorable and having horses greet you in the morning is pretty cool. We enjoyed wandering through this part of New Jersey. There are other farms in the area - one in particular that had really great homemade ice cream. The site is also close to a few hiking trails just a short drive away. Fun quick getaway that's not too far from the city. But you should be ready to get a little dirty - as Natalie reminded me -it is a working farm so watch where you step!

What a great spot! We stayed at the woods site, which was steps from a river, car accessible, and had a large circular table and a raised clay fire pit. It's feels like being deeper in the woods than you actually are. All the hosts were very kind people, and we're very grateful that they have opened up their amazing spot.

I had the best weekend!! I can’t wait to bring my family next time. Such a peaceful farm. The experience was awesome and i couldn’t of asked for a better time. Waking to in a tent with farm animals less than feet away from you is such a cool experience! I will definitely be returning to hidden pastures

We were given a different spot from what we booked, but it was nicer than we expected. Basic campground with a table and cinderblock firepit. We had a nice dinner made on the fire under starry sky. Very cool experience to spend Sunday morning watching the alpacas eat and sunbathe in the pasture field! Would definitely come back.

Totally recommend this gem. The camp site was nice and private. The hosts were helpful during our stay.
Bunch of beautiful spots for dipping, trails, and food 15 min away or less.
