I definitely recommend this place and site #1 it's our 3rd time coming and never fails to disappoint! Hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming and over the top with keeping guests happy! I love that we don't have to pay for the fire wood there is plenty and plenty to go around! I also love that they keep extra fire wood under a tarp incase of rain so it stays dry. In the past we've used this tar to hang up when it was pouring rain out all day ...came in handy! It was very buggy that time and Dennis was sure to spray our site to decrease the flies and skeets. I do not mind the beautiful little 3 minute walk down to the river side camp site and our dogs get to be free and enjoy the trails and river as they want. I spent this third time here for my birthday with friends and Dennis and Kathleen are extremely accommodating for our friends as well! Such a beautiful property and I absolutely love coming here! Clean site and well furnished with seating and tables along with a steel grill topper for the camp fire to cook on. I will continue to come back here for future camp get away adventures! 1000% recommend!!! I've been to about 10 hipcamp sites and this is my FAVE!!!!

A gorgeous place! We had site 2 booked but switched to site 1. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming. Our dogs loved the place and were able to comfortably explore off-leash the whole time. We were treated to a nighttime chorus of barred owls calling in every direction, and woke up facing a gorgeous sunrise over the river and the sounds of wild turkeys, sandhill cranes, pine warblers, and northern flickers. A hidden gem for birders. Would love to stay again!

Site 5 - Maggie's Merry Mirror
Dennis was an awesome host with a beautiful property. He covered our firewood (that he provided) before we got there because of the rain, just a stand up guy. We stayed at campsite 5 and definitely recommend for a bigger group, had an absolute blast here and we plan on being back!

One of the best hosts I’ve camped with the sites are perfectly isolated, but comfortable with multiple trails in the area. Truly a great experience and one of the best price points I’ve seen rental wise

Beautiful property. The campsite was nicely maintained and set back in the property with a nice walk through the woods to get there. It felt very private. A short walk along the creek to the river was also a nice and unique part of the site. Our dogs got to play and enjoyed it very much.

The site we camped at was quite wonderful, so calm and peaceful. We had brought a bit of gear with us which made for a few treks. Campsite 1 wasnt far from where we parked. I did feel nicely grounded.

Maggie's Mirror sites 1 and 2 are awesome campsites camping next to the river good bathroom with plenty of firewood provided. Dennis and Kathleen are very kind and good hosts. Site 1 is built up very nicely for a party of people. Site 2 is just fine for me being a single person. The sites are worth probably atleast double of what they charge.

Very nice private and quiet camping spot. I stayed at site 5 for several days. Occasionally I would hear a car on the road (which is a decent distance away and mostly blocked by trees) but they weren't very loud and I didn't find them bothersome.
I didn't see any other people when I was at my site, tho once I did hear what sounded like the jingle of dog tags, so there may have been another guest walking their dog, but they didn't bother me at all.
The tent area is quite large, I easily fit a 10x14 foot instant tent with room to spare. Anything larger might struggle to fit. At site 5 you can drive right up and park your car, so no need to carry your things.
There's an outhouse, firewood is provided, and you can get water from a hose at the host's house. I'd recommend filtering the water if you want to drink it.
The first couple of nights I heard coyotes howling in the distance, but it never sounded like they were coming closer to my camp. It is quite buggy, being in the woods and near water, so mosquito spray is a must.
Overall a positive experience, especially if you like being isolated and away from others.

Very kind and thoughtful hosts. Checked in with us multiple times to make sure everything is going well, asked if we had sufficient firewood & recommended hiking trails. Such a beautiful campground, our dogs loved it so much. The only downside was the mosquitoes were rampant but that’s not their fault. 200% recommend and will definitely be back.

We loved our long weekend get away at Dennis & Kathleen’s land! We hiked the property while our dogs got to run and explore, took our four wheeler to the ATV trail that’s just 3 or so miles down the road and we laid back and relaxed while listening to the birds and chipmunks! It truly is a beautiful property, extremely well kept and cared for. Would reccomend!

Nice wooded campsite (#5). Very quiet, far enough away from everything, yet and easy drive directly to the site. The host was very friendly and met me on arrival. Having firewood included was a nice touch. I walked all over and never did see the river, so maybe some of the other sites were closer to it. There were tons of mosquitoes, but that is to be expected given the wet spring and closeness of the swampy river.

We had an amazing time! Dennis was very helpful with his suggestions, great area river was nice. Only downside was the Mosquitoes! Not their fault but definitely should’ve came a different time of year!

The campsite is a great place! We loved it and would definitely go back. Our 2 year old loved it too, running around and laying in the tall grass. Dennis was very nice as he was showing us to our camping spot. I would give this campsite a 5/5 rating!

Me and my friend stayed at site 5 rather then 4. We were happy with the switch and recommend site 5 as it’s back in the woods more.
We had a great time and loved our camping spot. We definitely plan on coming back again. And the privacy of the camp site was also great.

Dennis is a very patient and giving man. Even when we blithely followed our GPS (which got us lost) we then followed his directions and he helped us get back on tack. Sites are somewhat primitive (as was expected) but they are spectacular, especially in the fall. If you like easy gentle kayaking, this is the area for you. Cell phone reception is very spotty, and GPS here can be inaccurate. Make sure you know your way here on a paper map before you start out.

My partner and I absolutely loved camping at Maggie’s Merry Mirror! Due to the weather, we had basically all the grounds to ourselves which meant for the first time literally ever, our dogs could be dogs and explore and run and swim. The site itself was beautiful. We pitched our tent right along the water and spent the 4 days getting in touch with nature. Dennis and Kathleen were absolutely wonderful hosts. Very responsive, thoughtful and helpful. If I could recommend one thing it’s shoes with good grip as getting down to the campsite can be a bit slippery if it’s been rainy. But there is a rope railing and roots that act as steps so it wasn’t too bad. Overall, we absolutely loved it out there and would 100% come back in a heartbeat. Thank you so much Dennis and Kathleen for having us!

We had a great couple of nights at Maggie's Mirror-site 1. Dennis and his dog met us when we arrived and showed us around the property. The walk from where you park to the campsite feels magical. We had a small tent and there were not a lot of options for even ground but we made it work. It was fun to explore the trails around camp. Found some mushrooms and took Dennis's recommendation to hike part of the Ice Age Trail. The learning center at the headquarters was very cool and educational. The circle trail was a great 4.5 mile hike with lots of shade.
We didn't have any issue with bugs--but I would expect the bugs to be pretty terrible in the summer months--it's very swampy, which is perfect for fall, but not summer. Highly recommend and would return for sure!

The only thing bad is the occasional loud motorcycle that drives by. It is a long way from Site 1, and Site 3 is unlikely to be occupied. So there is privacy. You can't see or hear Site 1 through my experience, having stayed there twice. Site 2 is large enouph for 1 person, maybe 2 And I think it is easier to get my stuff in and out than Site 1 would be, even though Site 1 is built up nicer. I do like to leave Site 1 open for larger parties as a courtesy. I do have two chairs provided by the site owner to sit on at Site 2. And I do camp right by the river, which is about 2 feet deep and slow moving.

It was an excellent site, very private I was right on the river. I was greeted by Addie the dog upon arrival, who is very friendly. Dennis walked me around the property for probably close to a half hour upon arrival and gathered firewood for me. The only downside was some traffic noise, which you can hear now and then. I'm sure I will stay again.
