Nestled between three of the most magnificent mountains in the Pacific NorthWest, and backing on to the Pinot Gifford National Forest, this delightful farm is surrounded by open space, beautiful views and forest trails. With zero light pollution, a myriad of stars fill the clear night sky here, and the only sounds that break the utter peace of an evening are the sounds of nature. We are located 1hr and 40 minutes from Mount Rainier National Park and 2.5 hrs south of Seattle. We have 3 tent sites and 2 tent/RV sites available. For the RV sites, we can accommodate vehicles under 45ft in length and the sites are flat. Electrical hookup available: Both 30 amp plus 50 amp hookups are suitable for RV and electric vehicle charging. Regular Electric sockets are also available in the studio barn for charging devices. Water hookup available and TV hookup available. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. Pets are allowed. Flush toilet available. Potable water is available. Cooking equipment provided. Wifi available. International artist C J Elsip offers creative experiences, painting holidays and classes here for the artistically inclined in her multipurpose studio gallery.

Gifford Grove provides both privacy and cooling shade in the morning and throughout much of the day. It is also a little more sheltered from the wind. Potable water hook up and a 50amp power supply is provided on the front left of the barn, and we provide a 30amp converter for your convenience in the barn right next door. Owned and managed by professional artist C J Elsip who also provides art classes at her studio on site for all age groups

Situated to the front right of the studio barn, "Sunset" is a spacious site with a wide open vista across fields, the Cowlitz river basin and mountains. The site enjoys glorious evening views to the west where the wind can sometimes pick up here mid-afternoon through early evening, providing a cooling breeze. A large metal ringed camp fire is provided alongside a sturdy hand-built bench and log-stump seating. You’ll find 30 & 50amp power and water supply located on the front right of the barn. Beautiful, comfortable, and private

I have been there before, this was my second time. I love this place, such wide open meadows to look at and its typically perfect for star gazing. C J is a fantastic host, makes sure you have no problem and lets you have your privacy. You have a good restroom, drinking water and good privacy. All that I look for in a ca pung spot! Would recommend it to anyone.

A definite must!

Painter’s Paradise is one of the most gorgeous pieces of land we have camped on! Not only are there spectacular views wherever you look but the stars at night are breathtaking!! It rained one of the days we were there but CJ has a wood burning stove in her painting studio barn with cozy chairs and tables so we bought some firewood and had a roaring fire and kept nice and toasty while we admired her STUNNING paintings!! There is an adorable little building that has a flushing toilet, vanity, and sink that was very convenient and is centrally located. We will absolutely be back and can’t wait to see how this property develops. Definite recommendation for some soul healing and battery recharge!

Perfect place

Peaceful, clean, quiet, beautiful. Great place to pitch our tents overlooking a gorgeous hay field. and watch hay being baled and picked up. Pretty sunset; heard crickets, frogs, coyotes, owls. Saw the clear night sky, and a shooting star with a giant tail. Gorgeous sunrise over valley fog with a crescent moon. Cj's friend noticed my bike's battery was dead when we were trying to push start it. He brought his truck and cables over and got us going! Thank you. I will return.

This was our second time staying at CJ’s and we loved it as much as the first time! The view is incredible and we loved the wide open spaces for our kids to run wild. The location is perfect for visiting Mt Rainier and Windy Ridge at Mt St Helen’s. We will definitely be back! We look forward to CJ getting showers installed on the property so we can plan a long stay sometime!

CJ’s site, “Rainer”, was beautiful! Conveniently located near Mount Rainier National Park. Secluded and quiet aside from the cows :)The restroom and portable toilet were both exceptionally clean and well cared for. As well as stocked with TP, paper towels & soap. The campsites are a good ways apart, though if someone is right next to you it wouldn’t be as private. The area was stunning and CJ was a great host!! We would highly recommend, and we will be back if we visit the area again.

This was one of the best camping experiences! Great property and accommodations. Even more coming soon (like a shower!). We did lots of hikes nearby. Also, don’t miss out on the add a painting class/party option. We were total newbies and our experience with CJ and painting was amazing! This is definitely one of those sites that goes above and beyond for the price.

Beautiful views and Extra Amenities

My sister and I really enjoyed our three nights stay at CJ‘s. The setting is absolutely beautiful and there are extra amenities that you don’t always find at a Hipcamp, like a flushing toilet and clean well water and electric hook up for the RV. She was very responsive and, very kind. The sites are spread out so that you feel like you almost have the place to yourself. Definitely worth the trip

Loved it

My brother and I took a siblings trip and had the best time on CJ’s land! The campsite is quiet at night (minus the cows in the neighboring plot, but they were so cute!) and the stars were really bright. Great bathroom facilities, CJ is so helpful and quick to respond, and the location is very close to Rainier! The “Rainier” campsite is less shaded than “Shady Glen,” so would recommend bringing your own if you plan on spending more time at camp during the day! 10/10 would recommend!

We camped in the Shady Glen. There was a decent amount of shade and nice views. Site was far enough away from the next site that you had a good amount of privacy. The bathroom was nice too. The hosts were kind.

Pros: - The campsite is about an hour and 15 minutes from Mount Rainier National Park, making it a convenient location for exploring the area. - The views are stunning, with a clear view of Mount Rainier and beautiful starry skies at night. - The host was very responsive and promptly addressed the issue of bee and wasp nests in the bathroom, after being notified. Cons: - The campsite lacked shade, which made our stay uncomfortable in the 90° heat. - We had to contend with a lot of flies, gnats, mosquitoes, bees, and wasps. The grass around the site was infested with these insects, which was nerve-wracking given our bee allergy. - There was no water at our campsite. We had to walk to the bathroom area for drinking and cooking water, which was inconvenient given the insect issues along the path. - The bathroom facilities were minimal, with only one flushable toilet and one porta-potty. Additionally, there were no showers and no hot water. - The barn had a warning indicating safety concerns. - At $60 per night, the price felt steep given the lack of basic amenities and the discomfort from the insects and heat, which is mostly outside the owner’s control. Overall, the natural beauty of the area and the host's responsiveness are commendable, but the lack of basic amenities and the uncomfortable conditions significantly impacted our experience.

Camping in peace

This place is beautiful! The “common area” was very neat & spacious. Great views! Quiet. And you can see Rainier from your site. CJ was very accommodating. The bathroom was very retro. My kids thought it was really cool. We stayed for 5 days so we really had to watch our water usage since there was no dump. Once they get a shower in there it is a perfect place to stay! We really loved it there!! If you’re there for just a few nights it’s perfect. Not too far from Rainier entrance (About 45 minutes). To get to the Rainier visitor center it’s about an 1.5 hours. Highly recommend!

This was our family's first time camping. We stayed at the Gloaming site which had an amazing view (It would appear all sites do). It had a wonderful space for our dogs and kids to run around without feeling like we were intruding on our neighbors. The cleanest porta potty and a very large rustic bathroom (with a sink and flush toilet) were a very short walk away. We have no complaints and would recommend.

Perfect Weekend Spot

Beautiful and very peaceful place to camp for a weekend with well thought out spaces. We loved everything about our stay - especially the use of the barn with the fridge and water kettle. While we were prepared with a cooler and stove, it felt decadent to have. Also, we came in our Rivian and charged overnight. What a bonus!!

Sunset, mountains, and stargazing!

Our stay at CJ's site was exactly what we were hoping for. Close enough drive from the city, but far enough out for a total change of environment. Beautiful and well kept property, and CJ was responsive and available throughout the stay! We'd love to come back for another stay.

Our stay was so peaceful and the scenery is breathtaking. The pictures do not do its justice, it’s much more gorgeous in person, from sunrise to sundown. The host was responsive and friendly. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

The spot was very beautiful, quiet, peaceful, and had plenty of room for our family of 10! We stayed for two days and had a very relaxing weekend. The amenities available were wonderful. The bathroom was adorable!! We loved our stay and highly recommend it to anyone!
