Pitch a tent near or next to your vehicle or park a small to medium sized camper and use it as a base camp while you explore Vermont.  We are centrally located to Bethel, Royalton, Queechee, Woodstock, Rutland, Killington, Waitsfield, Randolph, Barre and Montpelier. What is there to do? Visit to our secret swimming hole located nearby...and White River access just down the road. Just up the road is the popular Silver Lake and State Park, great swimming, sunbathing, paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing.  We are close to interesting activities, such as the White River National Fish Hatchery, Billings Farm, the Queechee Balloon festival, and more. Near by farm stands sell fresh organic produce, eggs, grass fed meats, homemade food products and crafts. What is there to eat and drink? Nearby restaurants include The Barnard Inn, Cloudland, Toziers, Tessi’s Tavern, Locust Creek Diner, The Bethel Sandwich Shop, Cockadoodle and Village Pizza. Babe’s Bar in Bethel offers amazing creative cocktails in an old railway station. In the village of South Royalton 12 miles away is our local Co-op. There you can access lots of healthy food choices, many locally sourced and lots of drinks, it's our go to market. Three miles up Route 12 is the Barnard General Store and gas station they have just about everything a camper could want. They stock ice, fresh baked goodies, fruit and vegetables, prepared foods and many locally produced delights such as ice cream, kombucha and fresh baked goods. Their meat case features, sausages, thick pork chops, fresh air chilled chicken, local grass fed beef and they always have fresh Farro Island salmon. They also offer wine, beer and ciders.  A mile away on 107 is the Locust Creek General Store and gas station, they uniquely offer block ice, diesel and kerosene, drinks, simple fresh sandwiches, many frozen foods and lots of newspapers. David & Lisa were so kind! Their property is beautiful and has lovely views of the mountains. Outhouse was one of the cleanest we’ve ever experienced. The spots are on a slight slope but David accommodated our rig and gave us a nice spot (we only needed to use one leveling block) and firewood. Hosts gave us privacy and it was a lovely place for us to rest during our journey.

Dave was a great host. Very responsice and really nice person. I was so grateful for the loads of firewood at a super low price. The view from site 5 was beautiful and location was perfect. Woodstock is only 20 minutes away. Thanks for a great getaway

beautiful views and david was very welcoming but it was much closer camp ground than i was led to believe with little to no privacy and i paid 10$ usd which for a canadian is almost 20$ for fire wood that was wet and unusable. i also stayed on a night where they were two dogs barking at each other all night with no noise warnings given. but would still recommend because of the kindness and beauty i experienced during the stay

We stayed at Site 2, we had 4 vehicles with rooftop tents, it was a bit tough to find level ground for all of our vehicles, but we did manage. There is an outhouse that was extremely clean. There is firewood available for purchase. There is no privacy between sites, you have visibility of all other sites from yours. I would recommend this Hipcamp if you don't mind the lack of privacy. The host is very nice!

Overall wonderful stay. The views were amazing and David was very generous with the wood, so we could have a lovely cozy fire. Outhouse was very clean and the campsite was well maintained. It was cozy to see other sites fires on the chilly night, and overall it was a very friendly vibe. The diner down the road was AMAZING!! Would definitely recommend this spot.

It has beautiful views at the top of a hill. A few of the other sites are pretty close by to this one. Also this site is set directly on a slope with not too much even land which is a little difficult but we made it work. The host was great! Brought us firewood to our site. Very cute property overall.

We had a good experience, the weather was nice and the site was easy to find. The property is big and had great view of the sky at night. I would recommend if you just stop for a night and park. Not too much space for more than one car or tent. There’s no privacy, sites are next to each other.

Site 1 - Birds Eye View Vermont
Dave was super helpful guiding me to my site; greatly appreciated since, I came in after dark, and this location is definitely DARK. Site 1 was great. It's definitely private, and has that wonderful feel of camping under a full canopy of trees. Better yet, Site 1 is fairly easy to get to from the paved road, the other sites would involve a short, but fairly steep climb up an unpaved driveway (which, I'm not sure my 2WD would handle if it was raining.) This site is also mostly flat (though, it appeared that others higher up were as well.) If you do reserve this site, note that it is not a "drive through" (though at first glance, looks like it could be.) I backed in for an easier next-day departure (thank you again, Dave, for helping there too!)

Beautiful spot and David was so accommodating with some hiccups in my plans. I only stayed one night but I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Fantastic site!

Site 5 - Birds Eye View Vermont
Nice view, quiet, and peaceful spot. David was ready to greet us when we arrived, he had fire wood available and brought it up to our site. The wood was wet and we had a hard time getting it to burn, the site has a slight downhill slope so we had to work to level things out. Also, make sure to bring your own toilet paper, there was none in the outhouse. We had a great day at Silver Lake State Park. Overall we would comeback and stay again.

This is definitely the best camp ground I’ve been to. Very spacious and the view at night is spectacular.

Site 7 - Birds Eye View Vermont
We stayed at Campsite 7. There are 7 campsites on this property, we went on a busy weekend. All of the campsites were booked. The toilet was a 3 minute walk. Pros: - no light pollution; amazing star gazing - no cell phone signal if you want to get away - Mountain View’s - clean bathroom (bring own toilet paper) Cons: - close to other campsites. We were approximately 15 feet away from campsite 6. We could hear their conversation at normal voice levels. - Weird Campsite Layout U shape w/ two big trees in the middle dividing the site into two areas that made it feel isolated from each other. Not good for big groups (we had 3 tents) - On a Hillside; not level We kept sliding in the middle of the night because the ground was uneven. There is not a single flat surface for tents. - Host sold us wet firewood (Buy your own wood)

Site 4 - Birds Eye View Vermont
Site 4 is the best view, by far! Nothing fancy. Just a pull up spot on som mulch with a fire ring. There’s a fantastic watering hole about a mile down the road for proper washing. I had some decent trouble starting a fire due to mostly wet wood and no kindling. Overall, great place!

A Perfect Campsite for Some People

Site 2 - Birds Eye View Vermont
Not exactly what we were personally expecting. There were lots of pros and cons personally for us about this campsite. Pros: The host was so incredibly kind, the stargazing was absolutely breathtaking and the area was lovely. Cons: This campsite wasn’t what we were personally expecting. It is not private at all. We stayed at Site 2 and you are in a meadow surrounded by other campers, there isn’t a single tree so you are basking in the sun with no shade and no privacy at all. The only shrubbery around you, is thorn bushes; so be careful if you have a dog or little child. If you are looking for kind hosts, beautiful stargazing and communal camping, site 2 is for you!! But if you are looking for a quiet, secluded, woodsy campsite that’s private with just you and your companions where you can just be in nature, I wouldn’t recommend site 2. Wasn’t what we were hoping for but we still had fun! Thank you for having us nonetheless!!

Site 7 - Birds Eye View Vermont
David was a kind and welcoming host, delivering firewood and letting us in on the local swimming spot. Located in a gorgeous open clearing full of goldenrod, surrounded by neighboring forest. There were 7 camp sites nearly fully booked, all of which were a good distance apart but since the property is so open sound does carry from all across the campsite. Not ideal if you’re the type who is sensitive to sound and are tent camping with little sound barrier. The fire ring can be moved wherever you want so it’s pretty customizable how you want to have your set up, though we had a hard time finding a level spot to put our tent, and it seemed most of the sites were on a similar incline. Overall, a nice place to rest after exploring central Vermont.
