Learn more about this land: Both sites are located in beautiful Huntington, VT on the occupied lands of the Abenaki/Wabanaki. Texas Hill Brook camp site The Texas Hill Brook site is a flat, wooded campsite on Texas Hill Brook in Huntington. The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own. Dark Star Cabin Dark Star is the perfect base camp for your northern Vermont hiking and biking adventures! Comfortable accommodations for 6 in a solar powered cabin. Located in Huntington close to some of Vermont’s best trails, Dark Star is a short hike (less than a mile) from a private, secure parking area. The hike is not difficult, but ground is uneven, some of it is uphill, and it may be wet. Note that this property is HIKE-IN ONLY and pack in/pack out (i.e. you will need to pack out all trash, etc.). Unwind in the wood-fired sauna, lounge on the deck under the stars, sharing stories of your escapades and planning the next day’s adventures. Pull-out queen sofa bed on the main floor plus 2 full size beds in the loft. Pillows are provided but bring your own linens. Outdoor shower, WiFi, water filtration system, grill, small refrigerator/freezer, composting toilet, and many other amenities for a comfortable stay.

Dark Star Cabin & Sauna

Cabin · Sleeps 13 · 3 beds · 1 toilet
Dark Star is the perfect base camp for your biking and hiking adventures! Comfortable accommodations for 6 (2 double beds + 1 queen pull out sofa) in a solar powered cabin. Unwind in the wood-fired sauna, lounge on the deck under the stars, sharing stories of your escapades and planning the next day’s adventures. Located in Huntington close to some of Vermont’s best trails, Dark Star is a short hike (less than a mile) from a private & secure parking area. NOTE: This is a HIKE-IN ONLY property. Plan to arrive well before dark; the hike in is not very long and is well marked but can be challenging without daylight. Outdoor shower, WiFi, water filtration system, grill, small refrigerator/freezer, and many other amenities for a comfortable stay. A large wood stove, dry firewood, kindling, a propane grill, a 2 burner propane stovetop, water, water filter, French press and grinder for making coffee, lots of kitchenware, dish towels, boot dryer, small refrigerator/freezer, and cleaning supplies are all provided for your use. A wood-fired sauna is a short walk away. The cabin has 2 memory foam double beds in the loft plus a queen pullout sofa bed downstairs. You will need to bring your own bedding and linens, but pillows are provided. Bringing cozy slippers is strongly recommended. Hot running water is available in the kitchen and for the outdoor shower. There is a large deck with furniture for lounging late into the evening on a starry night or sipping your coffee while taking in the surrounding beauty. A well-maintained outhouse with composting toilet is about 100 feet from the cabin, and Crow's Nest Yurt is about 500 feet below the cabin on the same property. Dark Star Cabin is in the heart of some of the best mountain biking in the northeastern USA. Exhilarating and technical single track, flowy machine built, and mellow beginner trails can all be accessed within a short drive (or pedal!). Carse Hills, Sleepy Hollow, Cochran’s/Richmond Mountain Trails, and Hinesburg Town Forest are all within a 10 – 15 minute drive. Perry Hill (Waterbury, VT) and Saxon Hill (Essex, VT) are 30 minutes away, and Stowe’s trails are a 50 minute drive. If downhill mountain biking is your thing, Bolton’s bike park is great and is a 30 minute drive. Hike the trails all around the cabin or head to the Camel’s Hump hiking trail heads (Burrows Trail and Forest City Trail are a 10 minute drive). Burlington is just 35 minutes from Huntington.
