Past trip
in EL EL Cool Ranch, CaliforniaThis is your dome away from home!
Eli was a great host attentive to everything we needed, the directions to the place were clear and the property is a gem nestled deep in the hills outside Ukiah. We loved going on a long walk on the property, where right now there are wildflowers galore and burbling creeks. We did see a few wild ponies, too. Speaking of animals, Lulu is the best dog ever! The dome itself is the perfect combo of rustic and comfortable. Check the local weather before you go: whatever the temps, they will closely track inside the dome. We heeded the warning to bring sleeping bags for cold nights and we were glad we did! Having a pair of slippers or flip flops to wear inside the dome is helpful, too. Oh and not about the dome but FYI if you want to go to Orr Hot Springs while youâre here make sure you call ahead well in advance to book day use passes, we didnât and regretted it.
Past trip
in HorseSpeak at Cowgirl Up Ranch!, CaliforniaWe so enjoyed our night in the little cottage on Marybeth and Estherâs property. There are horses, pigs, sheep, goats, cats, dogs, and birds of every size - all are tame!! Note to cottage dwellers that the communal kitchen (shared w the bunk house) has a BBQ grill but you can bring your own camp stove if you want to stay in the cottage area to cook. We bought fresh eggs and they were delicious đ Iâd love to come back for a cowgirl camp one of these days!
Past trip
in Morning Star Ranch, CaliforniaBeautiful, peaceful, and horseful
This place is the best kept secret in Northern California. Top notch stargazing and so peaceful. Couldnât ask for better hosts, they helped us out when our camp stove conked out in the middle of dinner and gave generously of their time the next morning to introduce us to the horses. Not to mention local treats that made our stay even sweeter. I would come back anytime!!
Past trip
Quail Nest at Star Route
in Star Route, CaliforniaMy husband and I had a wonderful stay. A beautiful place, warm and friendly hosts, and a neighbor who just might ask you if you want to hold a baby goat. Bring sleeping bags for the air mattress because it pulls out all your body heat and you will be cold! Weâre already looking forward to when we can come back :)
Past trip
Tree House On Forest Edge
in Coho Canyon, CaliforniaPast trip
in Love Creek Sanctuary!, CaliforniaThis is a wonderful place! It filled my cup to be surrounded by animals who are so obviously well cared for. The trailer was clean and we slept great in it. I loved also having the BBQ grill, hammock, and gas flame pit in lieu of a wood fire (non-negligible given the wildfire burning not too far away!). Despite my desperate pleas the alpacas did not want to love me back. I pet the pigs, goats, steer, donkeys, cats, dogs, and blind llama instead.
Past trip
in Back of Beyond, OregonI love Squirrelville! The cabin is as cosy as can be, a bit kitschy with all the different eras meeting each other. It is well stocked with tea, games, books, and music. We slept soundly, so soundly that apparently we slept right through some coyote noises! The outdoor shower was fun, and the outhouse fulfilled its function (what more can you ask for?). Lastly, Cam and Christine were lovely hosts. Loved hearing about Cam's career in music composition and performance and speaking in French with Christine. I encourage others to come explore the Oregon Outback!
Yuri hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
