Past trip
in Guemes North Homestead, WashingtonExceptional off-grid escape
Wow, the homestead is an incredible place. Ian is a gracious and accommodating host. This trip was just what I needed - a few peaceful, disconnected days in the wilderness. I spent hours just exploring the property and all its neat spaces.
The cabin is adorable and sturdy. The woodfire stove keeps the place nice and toasty during colder months. The sleeping nook is super cozy and a great reading spot.
This trip was about relaxation but I will definitely be going back again to learn more about Ian's projects and get him to fire up the mill.

Cedar Bloom is a stunning property with tons of awesome glamping amenities. It was a great place to relax and unwind. Lots of open space for privacy and to explore and little touches. The camp hosts were friendly and welcoming and Mea was super helpful with my reservation. Jump in the river, it's cold but a revelation! Sit on the dock and take it all in. I would definitely stay again.
Past trip
The Redwood Stumphouse
in The Redwood Stumphouse, CaliforniaThe stumphouse was amazing!
A real cozy treat of a place. It's surreal waking up next to that enormous, mossy stump. No power or heat in the room - just what I wanted. Great light in the morning.
The property is beautiful and the redwood forest above the stumphouse itself is great for a morning stroll. Jamie was a friendly and gracious host. The main house with the bathroom and kitchenette had everything I needed.
I will definitely be planning a stay at the Stumphouse next chance I get!
