Cool mountain air, warm sunshine
My partner and I recommend Road to the Sun Ranch to anyone who passes through the area!
We had the opportunity to meet Zach himself. He's a kind human with a welcoming attitude. We watched the sunset together and shared travel stories. It's clear that him and his wife are seasoned RV'ers and dispersed campers. As such, their listing includes all the comforts and necessities one could hope for in a basecamp. They set this piece of land up for their own recreational use and visitation, a respite from their lives in the City, but they rent it out when they're away. So if it's good enough for Zach, it'll be great for you!
For those with self contained camper vans, or just needing an affordable and private place to sleep for the night this is the spot for you. Wifi, string lights, a panoramic view of Boulder mountain, and close proximity to some vista overlooks makes this a must visit spot. An added bonus is there's really no wrong way to set up for the night. There are a couple of designated tent sites with flat, soft, sandy pads, as well as a large lawn for more flexible set ups. There's even a fire pit with chopped wood near by (when allowed for by state, and local regulations). However, campers beware, this spot doesn't have a restroom (yet). The nearest one is a 5 minute drive to a gas station. But do check the listing before writing this spot off if thats a deal beaker for you, Zach said they are working on the bathroom situation.
Happy Camping!
P.S. Take Zach and I's word for it... make the drive on Hwy 12 towards the top of Boulder mountain for sunrise. You wont regret it.

the Forest Fairy Glampy tent
in The Fairy Forest, CaliforniaEmphasis on "fairy"
Kimberly's Forest Fairy Glampy tent is a must stay! She is a kind human being whose affinity for positive spaces and cozy atmospheres manifests itself in her home and this listing. Upon arrival she took the time to walk my fiancĂŠe and I around the trails on the property, tell us a bit of backstory about the land and her acquisition of it, and give us some pro tips for the shower(coolest shower ever btw; see photos). The canvas tent heats nicely with the space heater if needed and the mosquito net kept bugs at bay all night. Theres a rug and some shelving and clothing rack so you can sprawl out a bit once there. The fairy lights around the garden are a nice atmospheric touch for the evening and if permitted the fire pit is a beautiful place to sit and breath in some cool Pacific air.
Oh and one more thing: if you have the privilege of meeting Kimberly, ask her about the fairy that lives in the area.

Site 1 (2 Person Max)
in Wild WA Coast Lookout ($75 - $125), WashingtonLet the waves lull you to sleep...
This listing is seriously a hidden gem. Holy cow. It's proximity to La Push, Olympic National Park, & Forks, Wa. means this property is your Olympic Peninsula basecamp!
Each of the sites on Adam's property has an absolutely incredible view of the Pacific and access to a secluded beach on the same coastline that forms La Push, Second Beach, and many other iconic Washington locations. The flora on the property is a stunning clash between Olympic montane, and PNW rainforest. The smell of Pacific mist and the sound of crackling firewood will not be soon forgotten.
