Bring your tent and camping equipment to The Garden of Eden for some quality time outdoors!

The Garden of Eden is a thriving small community dedicated to sustainability and philanthropy. Our proceeds are paid forward to feed, clothe, house, educate, and heal people in need.

With over 3 acres of land, herb and vegetable gardens, wildcrafted foods and medicine, chickens, and a number of families and other residents living here, the vibe is wholesome and progressive.

We do not use central heating or air conditioning in any of the structures on our property, including the main house and spaces we offer through Hipcamp.

There is a rainwater wash station outside the outdoor communal composting toilets, which are equipped with sawdust, hand sanitizer, rain water barrel, TP and baby wipes.

We have an outdoor shower powered by well-water for bathing. It is crisp and refreshing on a hot day, and brisk in any other weather. This is another excellent option for staying cool in the summer!

Hot showers are available in the communal bathroom in the main house when our residents are awake for an extra donation.

We also prepare über dank, high vibe cuisine on our own handmade earthen rocket stoves in our sustainable outdoor kitchen. This is available to all guests for a reasonable donation when available.

We offer even more amenities you can add-on to your stay including healing therapies such as massage, reiki, reflexology, and sound healing. We also have a unique boutique space with vintage clothing, stones and crystals, handmade jewelry, and herbs and preserves from our garden - all on offer by donation towards our cause.

Because we are a thriving ecovillage, we always have many very interesting people around! There are lots of animals, bugs and nature as well as fun and interesting activities.

This is a natural setting so be aware there are bugs and wildlife around. We of course have mosquitoes, so if they bother you please bring your bug spray! We also have fire ants in various little clusters on the property. We all walk barefoot here daily - if you choose to do that too, just be mindful of where you step.

Children love the GOE! Since there are many children already living in the ecovillage, of a variety of age ranges, they are always happy to share their free living style of life with other kids. Not to mention the large trampoline, outdoor tree swing, or 100's of trees to climb!

It is very hot in the summer time in Texas, so you will find the residence wear very little and often the child run around in their birthday suits.

We have a locked gate to ensure safety and privacy for ourselves and our guests. Visitors are free to come and go as they please; we just need to lock and unlock the gate which will simply require a communication and a few moments to attend. The rest of the property is surrounded by a 20 ft high bamboo tree fence.

Whether you are just passing through and need a beautiful safe place to stay for the night, or you want to fully immerse yourself in a whole new lifestyle, The Garden of Eden is a priceless experience!

We require all guests to submit a photo of their valid ID and to sign a User Agreement upon arrival. We can send the agreement to you upon booking so you can look it over before you get here.

Garden of Eden is a nice place if you are really into sustainable ideas and experiences. Me and my boyfriend stayed 2 days here and it was nice but at times it was a little uncomfortable. We didn’t like the idea of having to go to the outdoor kitchen every time we wanted food, but it wasn’t that much of a hassle. Your campsite is private but when you need to cook, people will try to talk to you and make conversation. Which is fine! We were treated very nicely although one of the owners complained that we brought paper towels and toilet paper.....? I guess we weren’t “sustainable” enough for them. Also we didn’t really get to see the garden. The entire property is pretty overgrown. Theres many stray cats that WILL eat your food, so be careful. hahaha oh well good experience probably will not be returning again though.

The grounds were much more unkempt than we had anticipated, we were expecting a more manicured garden. The owners have let everything grow out so it is very wild. This did not work for us especially since it was raining when we were there. The website mentioned “not pets allowed,” however, there were pets on the property. My friend is allergic to cats and there was a cat freely wandering around, walking in our things and the cars.

We could not find anywhere to wash our hands and were directed to pee “anywhere” on the property, which is uncomfortable when there are huge plants growing everywhere.

To enter and leave the property we had to message the hosts each time to have them let us out. This was rather cumbersome and does not lend for a easygoing experience. I feel they could offer a better way for entry and exit for their guests.

We were also there during COVID and the hosts did not wear masks or practice social distancing. We did not feel safe as a result.

Response from Garden Of Eden, the Host, on June 29th, 2020

Yes, PLEASE READ our listing thoroughly and carefully, and book here only if you are interested in a truly natural, sustainable experience! We believe in transparency and full disclosure, thus notify all potential guests as best we can: In regards to the "upkeep" of our garden, please tell us why you expected us to keep our sustainable wildcrafted permaculture haven "manicured", and why you would judge us for not meeting your beliefs. We would be happy to reword our description to avoid more confusion. In regards to animals on the properties, yes we allow stray cats and dogs to be here. We do NOT recommend anyone else's pets come visit, as there are coyotes, skunks, raccoons, and other animals beyond the stray cats and dogs, and many domestic "pets" are not capable of interaction with truly wild creatures. Further, why would you allow a cat in your car if you are allergic LOL?? We definitely did not open your car door to allow a stray cat inside. As far as washing your hands, again per our description "There is a rainwater wash station outside the outdoor communal composting toilets, which are equipped with sawdust, hand sanitizer, rain water barrel, TP and baby wipes.  We have an outdoor shower powered by well-water for bathing." All of these are viable options for cleaning up, and we fully disclose the circumstances. As far as peeing on plants....uh....it's CAMPING. You could have alternatively used the composting toilets per your preference. We really do want you to be prepared for what you're getting into, but giving your "waste" back to the Earth is one of the most wholesome and pure experiences of being in and one with nature! Per the gate situation, yes it can indeed be a bit cumbersome so of course we disclose this in the listing too: "We have a locked gate to ensure safety and privacy for ourselves and our guests. Visitors are free to come and go as they please; we just need to lock and unlock the gate which will simply require a communication and a few moments to attend." If you feel you know a better way for us to do that, we are open to suggestions...however you have offered nothing but judgment and condemnation because you didn't read or understand the description. Per your health fears - You were out in the open air. No one was within 6 feet of you. Almost no one interacted with you whatsoever except to check you in...again, it's CAMPING. If this plandemic has you terrified, why are you going out at all? We offer so many solutions for health, and it is truly a shame that you weren't able to research or receive any of them.
