Site 1 - Rockin' N Ranch Buena Vista Valley
in Rockin' N Ranch Buena Vista Valley, NevadaExhale here!!
I love this spot! The quiet is profound. When the moon is getting full it shines as bright as a reading lightâŚand once it slips behind the distant western mountains itâs all about the stars.
Chris and Morgan are fantastic hosts, friendly, helpful, easy going, communicative and accommodating. They seem to love their land and their project and are gracious to share it with travelers.
Iâve pitched my tent here twice as a stop on my travels along I-80 and itâs worth the 15-20 mile drive from the freeway to get to this vast and beautiful expanse of high desert peace, even just for one night.
But if you have more time and use this space more as a destination, they offer other ranch related activities and thereâs endless acres to roam. I hope to return again with a little more time to settle in.
Many thumbs up!!
Site 1 in the Auntie's Grove
in The Auntie's Grove at Moonstone, MinnesotaVery special place
This spot is simply wonderful. Audrey is a lovely host, everything was easy, the property is gorgeous, the campsite was perfect. I stayed only one night but I took a walk to the beach at the pond and suddenly imagined staying for days. These folks know what theyâre doing and itâs special. I feel fortunate they are willing to share it with traveling visitors.
Site 5 - Herzog Homestead
in Herzog Homestead, NevadaHuge sky!
This spot worked out almost perfectly for me. The only glitch was I got fooled by the cloudless night sky full of a zillion stars so I couldnât bear to put my rain fly on. Sure enough, at 6 am I was awakened by rain drops spattering through the screen roof of my tent.
Aside from that this was a perfect spot to pull off the and spend the night. Itâs true the interstate noise is a factor but I sorta liked it because I was on a road trip and the road was my companion. And earplugs did the trick for sleeping.
Definitely a no fuss stop with beautiful vistas of the distant mountains and the way the light plays on them. And the porta potty was spiffy clean!
Site 2 - Peaceful Winery Camping
in Peaceful Vineyard Camping, CaliforniaSpringtime at the vineyard
We had an excellent weekend staying at Maryâs winery. We tent camped near the vineyard in a beautiful serene spot, grassy and green. 100% recommend!
The whole experience was very low key and easy. Mary said the tent camping option is removed once the weather heats up, but in early spring it was just lovely. Owls at night, birdsong in the morning.
Easy access to a clean bathroom, potable water and electricity.
Mary is a great host, friendly and responsive. I recommend tasting their wines and taking home a bottle or two as well.
Site 3 - Camping on private lake
in Camping on private lake, MinnesotaForest Campsite at Camp Cricket
in Camp Cricket, New YorkShort but great stay
Excellent place to camp. The tent was sturdy and spacious, the setting sweet and Anna is a lovely, accommodating host. The outhouse and shower area are well maintained with considerate touches that are sensible and homey. Be aware that there is a short, flat but significant enough walk from your car to the tentsâŚ.so if youâre loading in a bunch of stuff, a wagon or cart would come in handy. I didnât have one and had to make a few tripsâŚwhich is also totally doable. Would definitely camp here again.
Vermont Hillside, beautiful views
in Vermont Hillside, beautiful views, VermontI loved tent camping in this spot! Beautiful, spacious setting. Lots of sky and mountain vistas but also nestled against the woods and wildflower thickets. Goldenrod and aster in bloom in late summer. Crickets trilling
Terrie was an excellent host, very responsive but also very hands-off, which I respect and appreciate. I booked just a few hours before arrival, the directions were excellent and upon arrival I just picked a spot, pitched my tent and enjoyed the space.
One thing to note is that the area available to camp is a gently sloping hillside. Nothing extreme, but you do have to consider where youâll put down stakes and how level you will be. The listing mentions this so it wasnât a surprise, but it was helpful to be aware beforehand.
Also, the little store in town is really worth stopping by and spending some loot....on supplies and delicious homemade stuff: from their deli case and also baked goods. And leave the book you just finished reading at the free library on the porch, and pick a new one.
Iâll feel lucky if I get a chance to return to this lovely place.
Creek side cabins and tent camping
in Creek side cabins and tent camping, MichiganLori could not have been more friendly and welcoming and the setting is lovely. I was on a long distance road trip and Loriâs place isnât far from the interstate so it worked well for me. I really appreciated the easy place to rest. And her dog is a love!
Gentle Breeze Camping
in Gentle Breeze Camping, MichiganSpent a great night here. Like someone mentioned in an earlier review, this spot seems to be a work in progress.. But the potential is obvious, as well as the hard work thatâs going into it. I was happy to support the efforts.. Quiet, pretty, peaceful spot by the lake.
Site 3 - Pond and farm views
in Pond and farm views, MontanaMiles from nowhere, this quiet, simple spot was the perfect place in my travels to spend a night next to the cornfield. I arrived at sunset, which was spectacular, and spent the evening amazed at the stars and the quiet. In the morning, the birds were excellent companions as I broke camp.
Jessica and her husband were very friendly and communicative. Would definitely camp here again.
Site 3 - Rockin' N Ranch Buena Vista Valley
in Rockin' N Ranch Buena Vista Valley, NevadaThis is the perfect place to land in the high desert of Nevada! Chris and Morgan are such warm and welcoming hosts. So easy and chill. Their ranch and their hard work is providing so much good beyond the beautifully simple camp sites. I had a fantastic stay, enjoying the profound quiet and the enormous sky. Hope to pitch my tent there again sometime.
