Ruby’s Cabin
in Ruby’s Cabin, OregonBest cabin ever
This was my second time, staying at Ruby‘s Cabin, and the second time being MAGICAL. We literally just brought food, toothbrushes, and a change of clothes. We used our sleeping bags but not necessary - the daybeds have very comfortable bedding. Everything here is an A+. Love it!
Ruby’s Cabin
in Ruby’s Cabin, OregonSite 11 Behind Hill Primitive
in Willow Barn Ranch, WashingtonNice farm camping
Was great! Lovely setting with nice amenities including a plumbed toilet/sink, electric outlets, picnic tables, campfire rings (but we didn’t use them due to it being blazing hot and wildfire season), and flat, grassy sites. We tent camped in site 6, which I have to believe is one of the best because it was so private, flat and roomy. I didn’t see any other sites except site 2, which appears to only accommodate an RV. Yes it’s a farm so yes there are odors, flies, and sounds that go with it, but we didn’t find it to be any kind of deterrent. We happened to be here on a very hot weekend in August, so would recommend picking your tent spot to be under some trees because as I mentioned, blazing hot out and the picnic table is in the sun in the morning.
The only negative is that the host’s dog (who is otherwise great) came charging out at us a few times as we pulled into the driveway, scaring the pants off us because we almost ran him over. He wanders freely so if you have reactive dogs, this may not be the place for you. But the dog is nice and I do appreciate the owner’s warning on the listing to not be mean to his dog or be asked to leave - I would feel the exact same way! So, don’t let the dog deter you but please do be really careful and drive slowly into the driveway because it would be very easy to hit him with your car if you aren’t braced for it.
We went tubing on the Yakima (Umtanum to Roza) and had a delicious brunch at Caffe 11th Ave
Thanks for a great stay!
#9 - Walk into Forest
in Jug Handle Creek Farm, California#6 - Sunny and Open
in Jug Handle Creek Farm, CaliforniaPretty good, depending on the site.
Great location; camp site quality varied. Site 9 was perfect and beautiful - the most private that we saw - but there was a lot of toilet paper and some trash in the woods behind us. Very minimal communication with hosts, but overall nice place to camp. Water spigots and clean port-o-potties. Didn’t look for other amenities.
Camping Field
in Ossia Village Farm, CaliforniaCommunal camping at its finest
I don’t have enough words to express how special this place is. From the hosts (Eric, Dar, Hanya, the kids), the gigantic wildflower gardens, the communal spaces, the totally warm and welcoming hospitality and vibe, the other campers, the group campfire… it was all basically magical. I could live here and never look back… Thanks for everything, Hanya, Eric, and Dar - you are the best - my kids will never forget our stay here ❤️
Site 1 - Owl Glade upper meadow
in Owl Glade, WashingtonMagical
Almost don’t want to say how much we loved GK’s property because we want to make sure it’s available next time! Beautiful meadow for camping with a gorgeous perfect short PacNW trail for forest-bathing. Really thoughtful and unexpected amenities, such as a solar lamp, bubbles, and citronella incense to keep mosquitoes at bay. The lovely neighbor next door offered a rainbow of eggs from her chickens. GK was extremely welcoming and responsive to all our needs - really grateful for the support and excellent communication. This property technically holds two camp sites, and it might have been uncomfortable or at least less intimate if the other site had been booked, but fortunately for us it hadn’t been. We were fine with no toilets or water, but you can get water from the Jarrell Cove state park. We spent our days at Fudge Point, which has three parking areas with short, half-mile or less hikes through beautiful ferny forest to get to each parking area before you get to the beach (1.5 miles if you park at the first parking area). A magical stay and we will be back!
Site 1 - Tent/Car Campers
in River Mountain Meadow, WashingtonLovely site, host, and location!
Anna’s Hipcamp is situated on the top of a hill, next door to a ranch of interesting black cows, and close to the river, Lucia Falls, Moulton Falls, and Battle Ground Lake. Anna herself is really really sweet and the kids and I enjoyed chatting with her. Lovely host and great location! Thanks Anna!
East Gate
in Nature’s Refuge on the Lewis River, WashingtonLocation!
Everett is one of the nicest hosts we’ve ever met. Truly a sweet guy! The location and views of his camp cannot be beat. The use of the kayaks completely made our visit an A+. We appreciated how dog-friendly his very private property is. I’d say that an RV would be more comfortable than a tent (we stayed in a tent on the dock, due to unavoidable seasonal flooding) but Everett provided lots of blankets and pads as a generous courtesy. My kids are adolescents so I wasn’t worried, but the series of older docks needing repair would be a bit nervewracking for people with young kids or older folks, or people who are simply clumsy. But we were fine and we didn’t mind. Some reviewers mentioned that his place is on a narrow strip between the road and the river, which is true, but the traffic was minimal and it was a nice quiet walk to the beach at Austin Point. The view, the privacy, the kayaks, and Everett’s hospitality were worth every penny!
Tipi near a Trout Pond
in Mere's Magic Rainbow Trout Pond, MontanaTruly breathtaking - i recommend!!!
Absolutely stunning setting, and even better is that Meredith is truly one of the nicest and most interesting people we’ve met on this trip! Amazing hospitality. We wish we could have stayed longer. The view is breathtaking, and she provided nice amenities such as cots/mattress, an outdoor kitchen, some sweet tea (ask her about her new shop!), basic shower/bathroom facilities, and most of all, her conversation. I loved that my dogs could run free. Meredith is the best! Highly recommend!
Hidden Acres Orchards
in Hidden Acres Orchards, WashingtonLoved camping in a cherry orchard!
Magical! Loved choosing my our own site in the orchard, the petting zoo, playground, and clean bathroom. Really nice hosts. We would totally stay here again!
