Past trip
in Howling Moon Homestead, IndianaI booked this spot months out for the 2024 eclipse. Dan was very communicative the whole time, and even though I ended up changing plans at the last minute, our friends still stayed at the site. They said he was very sweet, and gave them a tour of the farm and some eggs. I hope to see the place myself sometime.
Past trip
in ThorneBrook Farms Camping!, VirginiaGorgeous glamping in Virginia. The nicest setup Iâve seen on hipcamp so far. Excellent shower with hot (almost too hot) water, good pressure, and stone drainage. Tent was decked out with solar string lights, a comfortable bed, and a sitting space. Hammock and lounge chair outside were great to sit and watch the fireflies.
Past trip
Riverside Camp at Smuggler's Notch
in River Camp at Smuggler's Notch, VermontGorgeous riverside camp. Very comfortable for our group of four, would be tight for more. We loved splashing in the pools, resting in the shade, and exploring the notch.

Past trip
Salmon Run Trailside #4
in Riverside at Salmon Run, WashingtonPast trip
in Mountain Lavender Escape, WashingtonAwesome spot to stop near Mt Rainier. Large open field with space for two parties to camp with distance between them. Lots of firewood available, and water and a shovel for safety. The lavender field was lovely in the morning, and the smell of essential oils was wonderful.

Past trip
in Juniper Spur Ranch, CaliforniaIncredible view, shame about the fires nearby. Their land is untouched, but we watched across i-5 burn over night.
Past trip
Separate Star Point Camp
in Separate Star Point, CaliforniaIncredible views from the point. Bring a warm jacket and sleeping bag, it can get chilly when the ocean breeze picks up.

Past trip
in Redwood Forest Raven Haven, CaliforniaWe didnât see anyone else, but the hosts put out fire starters, several logs, and a small table for dinner. The lights are great for finding your way around at night, otherwise it is incredibly dark. We did have a skunk visitor, so be aware of your food storage.

Camp under the oaks
in Coyote Mynt Ranch, Paso Robles, CaliforniaWell designed space with a nice propane burner so we could have a fire without the risk. Didn't interact with the host at all, but it looks like they're building a new cabin on the property, so expect a bit of construction stuff nearby. Didn't bother us.
Past trip
Great Basin Hobbit Hole Camping
in Great Basin Camping, NevadaIncredible stars, comfortable home
What a special place! Lora said we were their first hipcampers, and we were welcomed with a quick tour and a six-pack of delicious home-brewed beer. Fire pit was well stocked with wood and water, and the stars and sunrise were spectacular.
Highly recommended if you're in the area or passing through.

Mt. Shasta Desert View
in Mt. Shasta Desert View, CaliforniaIncredible view of Mt Shasta. Try to arrive before sunset, because the road is pretty dark otherwise...

Josh hasn't gone on any trips yet.

Salmon Run Trailside #4
in Riverside at Salmon Run, WashingtonBeautiful and secluded site, perfect for a small tent. Loved the fire ring, lots of cut wood available. Mossy tree is a perfect spot to contemplate nature. Though itâs right next to the road, there was very little traffic at night.

in Bigfoot Basin, CaliforniaGorgeous spot by the stream
Just stayed here one night, but would have loved to make it a week. The spot is secluded in a little canyon with fern covered walls and a tranquil stream running through. My dog enjoyed splashing in the water, and I appreciated the leashed run that extended along the shore. Very comfy chairs and picnic table, next to a fire pit which we didn't end up using. A little sandy by the shore, and a rough road down if you don't have a high-clearance vehicle.
