in Camp Carmel Valley - Glamping, California#18: Tent Site
in Bridgeport Reservoir Campground, CaliforniaA convenient waterfront rv park
Bridgeport Reservoir had everything we needed! We camped with our baby & dog at a waterfront site in our truck camper, while my sister camped in a big-rig site nearby with her kids. The reservoir was great for the views (not for swimming or water activities at this time of year), and all the kids had fun riding their bikes around camp. The sun shades and picnic tables were nice touches at our site too. Showers cost an extra fee and the bathrooms are just okay, so RVs with their own bathrooms were most common. This was also a convenient location for getting out to see fall foliage across the Eastern Sierra! I recommend this spot to RV/trailer campers who need some space.
Magical Lost Sierra Bungalow!
in Magical Lost Sierra Bungalow!, CaliforniaA truly magical cabin
Wow, wow, wow. We loved this cabin SO much. The layout, the design, the amenities, the locationâeverything was top notch! We visit this area often and had a group of 6 for a long weekend in September. The cabin had everything we needed, and it was great having 4 bedrooms. The kitchen was stockedâwe used mugs, pots, pans, the kettle, coffee machine, and the grill. The front porch and back deck are also such great spaces. If you're looking for space for a group, this is it. We'll 100% be back!
77 - Standard Cabin
in Village Camp Truckee, CaliforniaA fun location & great amenities
We had a great weekend stay! We ended up in one of the adventure cabins instead of #77, and it was an incredible space with everything you could possibly need and more. We went out to nearby area lakes by day and hung around camp by night. We were there with family staying in their RV at another site, and all of the kids had a blast playing in the woods. Itâs easy to see Village Camp is improving a lot of things around the property with the addition of the new cabins and the upcoming new clubhouse. Easy checkin and checkout with super accommodating hosts!

in Seco Ridge Campgrounds, TexasThe Yuba Yurt
in The Yuba Yurt, CaliforniaA lovely, quiet yurt getaway
We spent a delightful long weekend at the Yuba Yurt and had a great time! The yurt was super well equipped for cooking and hanging, and the Host shared a ton of helpful info. We loved the deck, the books and games, and the wood-burning stove. Dog-friendly was a major plus too. Don't use GoogleMapsâfollow the Host's written instructions!
Tiny Home W Mountain Views & Hottub
in Big Little Hideaway, New MexicoAn incredible tiny house stay!
This was one of our all-time favorite tiny house trips! The land is incredible and right outside Taosâplus, the Hosts were very sweet and thought of absolutely everything. The tiny house design and furnishings were amazing, and we loved the extra helpful details like the provided river towels and trekking poles. The communal outdoor space and hot tub were fantasticâI was even able to take video calls here on the super fast wifi, both in and outside the tiny house. Couldn't recommend this spot more if you're heading to Taos!
Off gride
in Off the grid, mountain escape, ColoradoPrivate, secluded, and serene
We loved this tiny house! The location is incredible for visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park, only about 20 minutes away. The amenities were greatâwe loved having the stove, games, the picnic table out front, and the clean portapotty outside. It was also cool to learn how the solar power worked. We thought it'd be chilly without a heater, but the loft bed was actually quite warm. I'd recommend if you're looking for a place to stay near the national park, whether you want a few more comforts in the tiny house, or one of the tent campsites also on the land, which were in great shape.
Woods by the Sea Ashram
in Woods by the Sea Ashram, CaliforniaAmazing getaway in the redwoods
We had such a great time at Woods by the Sea Ashram! It was dog-friendly with wifi (I was able to work a full workday!), while the outdoor shower and wood-burning stove were standout features.
We loved the settingâa charming little pathway through the redwoods leads around the main house to the more secluded cabin. The kitchen has a mini fridge, French press, two mugs, and a kettleâotherwise, we brought our own camp stove and cooking utensils and had some nice meals on the deck. It was also easy enough to pack out our own trash.
Linens, warm blankets, towels are provided, as are shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for the incredible outdoor shower, which is right out the back door. No cold walks outside to get to it!
Even though we felt very tucked away in the redwoods, Mendocino and Fort Bragg are only 20-30 minutes up Highway 1. We hiked down to the property's creek, did the Skunk Train in town, and had a lovely 3-day stay.
Cabin
in Heidi's Goldnugget, CaliforniaThe coziest gold rush stay!
This spot was perfect for our midweek remote work getaway! The wifi was fast enough for Zoom video calls with no problems, and we used the cabin's iMac to watch a DVD from Su's collection. We played board games, loved having the French press coffeemaker, and used the stove and dishes to make our own meals. Everything was super clean, the bathroom was surprisingly big, and the loft space was delightful with comfy bedding (sleeping bags are also provided if you want to skip the loft). Bonus: We were so glad it was pet-friendly and brought our blue heeler. đś
All of the charming design details were a highlight, as was the restored wood stove (with plenty of firewood provided, for both the indoor stove and the outdoor fire pit). With the stove, the cabin was plenty warm for a winter stay (although we left just a couple hours before the first snow). All of the restoration work is super impressive. The fencing around most of the cabin gives plenty of privacy.
We'll be back!
