Erica R.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
This is a great place to stay if you want to be really deep In Klamath River country. It is a a 1 hour trip on a country road and then an unpaved road to get there, so make sure youâve packed what you want for your stay so thereâs no need to run to the little town on the coast. The meadow and Orchard and riverfront are beautiful and the hosts are Very kind. They Only just acquired the property and with their youth and energy have plans to improve things quite a bit. The two tent sites we saw were tucked away in the forest, just off the edge of the meadow, looked perfect. The yurt is stunning, and closest to the river. We stayed in the main house, which is about 7 to 10 minutes walking to the river. You have to go down a little hill and across the meadow and then another little hill. The river is pretty lazy and swimmable at this access point. As of now the main house, which was built in the 40s, is a bit rundown, but it functions reasonably well. It was nice to have a roof and toilet and a kitchen and clean water from the tap to simplify things for our family, we arenât fancy though. The stars at night on the meadow were spectacular. Blackberries and thimble berries are everywhere.

in North Fork Cabin, MontanaEverything you need, nothing you do
At the edge of wilderness, all quiet with nothing but the buzz of pollinators and the hum of the stream just outside the door. This off-grid cabin was much bigger and more comfortable than pictured, the cots were plenty firm enough and we were never cold or hot inside. The propane burners were better than my gas stove at home. Outhouse was clean and well-maintained. Nestled between two hillsides, with riparian trees and conifers among the grasses and wildflowers, the cabins are a short walk to Specimen Creek Outfitters who have beautifully trained and forgiving horses. Ralph took us novices on a breathtaking an hour's horseback ride n (lead by his able canine, Sage) through the mountain forests, meadows and streams. My city kids are begging for horses no, lol. The cabins are just 20 minutes to lovely town of Gardiner and gate to Yellowstone, but there is plenty enough in the area to enjoy while the Park is closed up north. Be sure to ride the horses, soak at the Yellowstone Hot Springs, raft in the rivers, hike the Gallatin National Forest, take a polar dip in the stream or use the pans provided for gold-panning. Also, just relax and play games or read on the porch and gaze at the stars.
Past trip
in Mountain View Glamping Yurt, IdahoOur family's first yurt experience, and now we dream of one of our own. Your hosts have made this off-grid lodging feel luxurious yet completely unpretentious. They've thought of everything you really need, and edited out all the nonsense from your everyday life. The outdoors is filled with birdsong, wildflowers, hum of pollinators, and breezes off the mountainside. There is a very comfy fire pit site with sofas, and a shaded outdoor kitchen. The yurt kitchen is very large and functional. The glam outhouse was the most charming we'd ever been in, especially with its mountain views. A 20 minute walk up the road leads to a creek and hiking trails near a campground. 20 minutes in the other direction is the fun-filled and relaxing Lava Hot Springs -- do not miss! - with water slides, hot spring baths, river tubing, a selection of great restaurants.
Past trip
in Painterâs Paradise, WashingtonStunning site nestled in valley
This hipcamp experience was magical in every way, and our host CJ was simply wonderful. She has created a serene spot that inspires creativity, connection and inner peace. We feasted our eyes on gorgeous sunsets, a vast valley of free range cows and crops, and Mt. Rainier peak, right from our campsite. We stayed here with two other families, and the 5 young kids had a beautiful range of space to run and play. They particularly loved foraging for blackberries, picking apples, and especially the luxury outhouse (an old farm shed that was converted into a fully functional, tasteful and clean toilet) which doubled as their playroom. (There's a table and chairs in this glam outhouse!) CJ let the kids play in the sprinklers during a heatwave, and surprised us all with kitten cuddling on our last day. The site is a minute drive from the entrance to the Pinchot Forest, through which you'll have a beautiful one hour drive up to the Mt St Helen National Park/Monument. Excellent river and creek swimming within 15 minutes from the camp. IF you are tenting, there are many flat spots to pitch tent at this site. We did take refuge in the large art studio barn during the Washington Mosquito Hour ( crazy mosquitos that swarm around just before sunset but they seem not to even bite!!!) Other wonderful amenities: a full fridge and freezer, a coffee maker, a tea kettle, and a gas bbq. If you are desperate for a shower, you can find some at the national park campsites nearby. We didn't get a chance to schedule an art lesson with our painter host, but we won't miss out next time. Lifelong memories were made here, and we hope to make more here next year.
Erica hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
