CJ’s farm was a beautiful spot for a weekend camping trip with friends and dogs. We stayed at the Gloaming, and the site was lovely. The welcome flyer was super helpful, and having a real bathroom nearby was a huge plus.
A few things to note for future campers: each morning we were woken up around 6 a.m. by someone using a chainsaw, not the hosts’ fault, but something to be aware of. The listing stated trash disposal was included, but we found out it actually costs $5–10 per bag, which wasn’t mentioned beforehand. Firewood was also pricey at $15 per bundle, while nearby farms had it for $5.
If you plan to cook, definitely bring your own camp kitchen. The listing mentioned cookware and cooking utensils, and while there was a stove/oven, small propane grill, coffee maker, and electric kettle, there were no pots, pans, or cooking utensils, only paper plates and plastic cutlery. These weren’t deal-breakers, but they were unexpected surprises that seemed to come from outdated listing info.
Overall, it’s a great spot. Just come prepared to avoid hiccups.
