Our time at Auntie's Grove at Moonstone was perfect! Auntie's Grove is very spacious and you can se up exactly where you want to be. The outhouse was adorable and clean and, while we didn't use it, the solar shower looked perfect!
Upon arrival we were greeted by Abby the dog as well as host Audrey. During our stay we also met two affectionate kitties that live on the farm. :)
We spent our time relaxing, exploring Moonstone on the available paths, in the vineyard, and down by the pond. The pond was very warm and while you can swim there we didn't have a chance to do anything more than wading.. but we will be back for a swim another time! We took one of the two canoes out to explore the pond and were happy to find many many frogs! We also spent some time playing horseshoes at Auntie's Grove.
It was interesting to learn a bit about the history of the land from Audrey. In 1872, Richard's great-grandparents emigrated there from Sweden. We were very happy to find that Audrey and Richard acknowledge that they farm on Dakotah land.
We found a few things to purchase in the shop before leaving. I wish we could have purchased some of Audrey's art and Richard's pottery - maybe next time!
Auntie's Grove at Moonstone offers a lot for a relaxing and quiet trip or a fun excursion with the whole family. I'm already planning another trip so I can bring my kids who I know will love swimming and canoeing in the pond!
The hosts, Audrey and Richard, were available as needed. They also went above and beyond by providing cleaning products in the outhouse, at the water spigot, and in the summer kitchen.
Moonstone is such a lovely places... we didn't want to leave! In fact we liked it so much that we didn't venture away to explore the surrounding area - we had everything we needed right at Moonstone. :)

Past trips
Tempest Ranch Camp
in Tempest Ranch camp, New YorkWe loved visiting Dwayne's land! We arrived late for only one night and were not able to enjoy all that it had to offer but want to go back again to stay longer. There was a perfect spot for our tent and Dwayne even started a fire for us when we arrived. My kids loved seeing and taking some photos of the horses in the morning and jumping onto a nearby hay bale. Now we're considering getting one at home... :)
Horse Corral
in Bravenit Camp, MaineWe had a great time staying on Sean's land! The area was beautiful. There was more than enough space to explore. Sean went above and beyond. And it was very nice to be able to use the RV when needed. Bravenit is on our list of Hipcamps to visit again. :)
Secluded Camping on the Canal
in Secluded Camping on the Canal, New YorkWe loved camping on Debraâs land! We had a very short stay but we enjoyed ourselves. :)

in Bluffscapes Camping, MinnesotaWe had a wonderful time at Bluffscapes! Allen was very welcoming and helpful, which made for the perfect start to our stay.
We had a little trouble finding the place but Allen was quickly and easily available to help point us in the right direction. After arriving he drove over in Chuck, the trusty utility vehicle, and we headed up the path to camp. While the trail isn't too long it is all uphill so we were happy to have a ride to camp! Allen gave us a little tour where we saw some of the cattle that call the property home. We also got to peek at both campsites, both of which are really spacious, have fire rings, and logs to sit on.
The view at camp is absolutely wonderful at all times of the day. We caught great views during the day but also enjoyed sunset, the stars, and sunrise!
There is no shortage of trails at Bluffscapes so we did a bit of hiking around in between enjoying the views of the Mississippi River.
During our time camping at Bluffscapes, in addition to the great views, we enjoyed the far off mooing of the cows and the sounds of many other animals, none of which bothered us at camp.
When it was time to go we loaded up our gear into our two bags and hiked our way down. I highly recommend taking a ride up in Chuck and hiking your way out if you're able to carry all of your gear.
Overall we had an excellent time and my kids (who weren't along on this trip) are already asking to schedule their own trip to Bluffscapes after looking at the photos of my trip! :)

CAMP MOONSHADOW Tent Camping
in Camp Moonshadow, MichiganFirst things first - My family and I had a wonderful time at Camp Moonshadow! For us, it was a one day stop on an epic road trip around Lake Michigan, but for others it is a destination all by itself.
For the weary traveler, Camp Moonshadow has it all. Take a warm shower inside the shower house or outside, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. For those traveling to Camp Moonshadow as a destination, you can leave most of your camp supplies at home and travel easy thanks to the camp's fully outfitted outdoor kitchen. Complete with a working stove, a coffee maker, a sink, mini fridge and more, you can cook a gourmet meal for your crew in the outdoor kitchen any time of day, even in the rain. Just be sure to keep it clean for your fellow campers to enjoy as well.
The provided directions to Camp Moonshadow are easy to understand and brought us right to camp. Once at camp the signs and instructions are clear, visible, and easy to understand.
When we arrived we were treated to a happy hour in the communal dining area - wine, cheese and crackers, as well as snacks for the kids. The kids happily filled the provided utility wagon with our gear and pulled it up the small hill to our campsite before playing soccer as the sunset in the nearby mowed field. As the adults got dinner ready in the amazing outdoor kitchen, the kids used the wagon to collect kindling to add to the communal kindling pile next to the fire pit and after dinner we enjoyed a roaring campfire before tucking in for the night.
Our hosts were available to chat and answer any questions we had. We highly recommend a quick stop at Camp Moonshadow or a multi-day trip. While there, be sure to head over to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore for a view of Lake Michigan you'll not soon forget.

in SilverCreekSprings bicycle farm, WisconsinBarely over an hour from the Twin Cities, Silver Creek Springs' Bicycle Retreat is a must visit spot and we will be back ASAP. We loaded up and headed to Silver Creek, the first stop on an epic road trip and were happy for the short drive to start us out. The directions were perfect and we arrived without any trouble. We were greeted at the on-site bicycle shop and treated a tour of the property. As soon the car stopped the kids jumped out and started exploring. There is certainly no shortage of nooks to explore.
There are three campsites and we nabbed a spot right next to the property owner's home, in reach of the wifi, which was a wonderful perk for us work-on-the-road types. Along with a quick tour, we were also provided some information of the surrounding area. We were also gifted a homemade healing salve, made from ingredients grown right at Silver Creek, as well as a dozen fresh eggs from the chickens peering at us from their coop.
The afternoon was filled with exploring the nearby mowed trails in the prairie, splashing in the creek, hanging out with the resident cats and dogs, feeding the chickens, goofing off with the turkeys, and a short paddle on the edge of a nearby town. After rushing back to camp to catch the sunset from atop Casey's Hill, we enjoyed a camp fire with the provided wood and tucked ourselves in. We slept wonderfully.
The following day the kids helped out with chores in the garden and did some more exploring while I took advantage of the wifi and marveled at the most clean and comfortable compost toilet I have ever laid my eyes on.
We highly recommend a visit to the Bicycle Farm at Silver Creek Springs. The host communication, the location, the amenities, and the pleasant company will not disappoint!
