Past trip
in The Haven, MichiganPEACEFUL. Right by the water. I wasn't the only camper, but there was enough distance between sites that we could all see but not really hear each other. :) My one night there, most of which was spent watching the river and listening to the birds and bullfrogs, totally mellowed me out. I can't imagine what more you would want in a campsite.

What a peaceful place! Doreen makes sure that you feel right at home. We were free to put our tents anywhere, and there were plenty of beautiful spots either under trees or the open sky. The friendly dog won my heart immediately, and both yard cats warmed up to us by the time the campfire was going. :) Already looking forward to our next visit!
Past trip
The Edges
in Retreat Center Campsites, MichiganThe Edges was the campsite of my dreams! Much as I like meeting new people, I like hearing nature instead of other campers when I'm in my tent. :) This place delivered wind in the trees and birdsong in the morning, just the faintest occasional sound from a distant road. Some whimsical favorite moments were watching the firefly show before falling asleep & showering in the middle of a meadow. (Don't worry, the solar shower stall is roomy and modest!) If you like peace & quiet in the woods, you found it!
Past trip
in Beautiful Lake Shawood Sanctuary, MichiganWhat a pleasant site! We needed a quick break from the city, and this site delivered. The hosts had everything ready when we arrived. My family enjoyed the nearby park (to which we will return!) and a campfire at waterâs edge. Think less âlost in the woods,â more âcottage by the lake,â and youâll understand the vibe.

This was our second visit, and weâre very likely to go back at least once more this summer. What can I say? :) Out kind host again went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, happy, and entertained. (Built the campfire himself! Offered us all sorts of ways to stay comfortable when the forecast predicted rain! Set the kids to looking for hidden art and geocaches in the words!) Seriously, whoever is reading this review, stop reading - just go book the campsite. :) youâll love it there!

Campers, you have hit the jackpot. You'll get a secluded, wooded site and a fun community campfire. The amenities are even better than the description. There are pleasant trails on the property & it's a short drive to TC or Sleeping Bear. But the REAL score is in the hosts - so kind, gracious, and interesting to talk to, with a perfect instinct for any little details that might make your stay more enjoyable. Before our tents were even up, we were talking about when we'd have our next trip here. My kid's review? "Mom, this is OUR PLACE from NOW ON!" If you're thinking about Camp Dubonett - do it!

Emily hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
