Easy camping, and animal friendly.
Dan F.recommends this listing.
It'd been a little bit since I've gone camping, so this was great all around.
I generally describe hipcamps to fall into 1 of 3 categories. Primitive, glamping/hotel experience, or something in between. Staying at their place falls in the latter category.
They provide an easy location, easy parking. Showers, bathroom, kitchen, etc... It's as easy as you want it to be! If you have a camper or RV, they even have water and electric hookups. Since we stayed in a tent, it's technically still kind of primitive, but in the most loose sense of the word.
The hosts couldn't have been easier or nicer to communicate with on top of it all! I've already recommended this location to friends and family, and wouldn't hesitate to come on back.

Private Suwannee River Getaway
in Bradford River Ranch, FloridaCamping at the suwannee!
Camping on a river is about as good as it gets for me in Florida. The location is incredibly remote (no neighbors while you're there), the scenery is beautiful, and you have a fairly famous river running through the back yard... I loved it!
Multiple spots for RV's, and the primitive camping is already great and only going to get better. The host is very communicative and clear, GPS took us directly to the site. I'm looking forward to coming back out!

in Daniel S.âs Land, North CarolinaSite 4 - Kinderhook Hollow Brook+Ponds@3000'
in Kinderhook Hollow Ponds/Brook, North CarolinaThis is a fun spot, all around.
A friend and I stayed here briefly while exploring the NC mountains, staying mostly at hipcamps.
On Timothy's property there are lots of different kinds of trees, mushrooms, and streams to walk around and check out. I saw several types of decent sized fish in the pond as well. I personally enjoyed climbing up several of the trees (I'm 36, so that doesn't happen as often as it should) The drive is really pretty, and once you're there it feels pretty private/secluded. The host makes everything really easy, offering several spots to set up tent as well, depending on your preference.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this spot to almost any kind of camper.
Cloud 9 Campsite
in Camping on Cloud 9, North CarolinaCloud 9 is camping made easy.
I and a friend stayed here recently and loved it. Great scenery, flat grounds, rivers, fireflies, lots of firewood, a full kitchen, and a shower! Camping, with a heated shower... I kinda felt like I was back home. I've already recommended this spot to a few people, and my next time headed out of town this will surely be a stopping point. Can't say enough nice things about it... so I'll stop here. You won't regret.
SMOKY MOUNTAIN HIGH(4100')
in Mountaintop Fantasy, North CarolinaOn a recent trip through the Carolina Appalachian region, this was one of my favorite spots.
Rather high by East coast standards, the views were pretty spectacular. Watching clouds roll through the valley was a constant source of "oooh, aaahhh". The surrounding area is home to lots of waterfalls and rivers, and this made a great homebase to go find them. It's also a gated community, so it's very quiet.
Very well kept, convenient, easy and scenic, I wouldn't hesitate to return.
Tent 2 - Walnut Hollow Tent Camp
in Walnut Hollow Ranch, North CarolinaThis is a really cool spot.
Walnut Hollow Ranch is huge! There are several areas to camp, depending on your preference or seclusion. Some are near the store, others are further (also lots of parking for larger vehicles, as we met a group traveling by bus as well). We opted for the further spot, to kind of test it out.
First of all, the views are rather great. From on top of the hill, you can see quite a ways. There were also a bunch of different paths that seemed to converge up where we set our tent too, so next time I visit, I'll have to check those out. It's a bit of a walk to our spot though, so not recommended for the immobile or if you're carrying a lot of gear. However! it is a pleasant walk, with lots of interesting plants to check out on the way (including wild fennel). Also, at sunset there was a ton of fireflies, which was a huge bonus to me. We got rained out unfortunately, so I only saw clear skies for a short bit at night - but it looked like there was very minimal light pollution, fantastic if you enjoy the stars.
Shameless plug for the farm too, but there's a meat store on site. We had to pick up a pack on our way out, which was cooked a few days later. I've already talked it up to a few friends/family members, as it was some of the best I've had in a real hot minute. Highly recommend!
Site 9 - Sky High Ridge RV Campground
in Sky High Ridge RV Campground, North CarolinaWe stayed here in a tent, but I highly recommend this more as an RV situation.
The grounds are clean and flat. They're also at a high elevation, so the views and drive are quite nice. I'm not a RV driver, but it looked to me to be very easy to pull in and out of, even with a large vehicle.
Also! I noticed the "bust your butt" falls in the photos, so wanted to check that out as well. They're nearby, and the whole river is really fun to explore. Definitely recommend!
Riverside Retreat
in Camp Clatworthy, South CarolinaA private river to yourselves.
This is a really cool spot.
You have flat ground to sleep on, a safe fire spot, privacy, and a river all in the same site. Honestly, a pretty ideal easy camp to me. The only thing, it is a downhill walk to where you'll set up your tent, so if you're immobile this may not be for you.
For us, it was great. If I had more time I would've loved to explore the rivers further, and maybe rafted or tubed on down. We unfortunately got rained out, but I also heard there's a cool boulder somewhere on property - something that I plan on finding next visit.
A-Frame Funky Cabin in the Woods
in The Magic Land Homestead, MissouriWe stayed here recently, at the end of a nature escape trip. Being a longer trip, we decided to go the cozy route and booked the A-frame.
Laura was a fantastic host, providing all of the comforts of home. After weeks in a tent, having access to seats, a refrigerator, filtered water, toaster ovens/microwave/grill felt like a 5 star hotel to me.
The property is huge! I was given a tour, and got a better idea of whats going on. A creek runs through the whole property (due to rain, it was a river while we were there), the forest and grasses were lush, there was even a natural spring on site.
I didn't stay at the campsite, but did check it out. Laura Lynne set up a curtain for bathroom privacy, provided hand sanitizer, chairs, and a hammock. On top of that, the ground was relatively flat.
Also on site is a "tree house". I say that in quotes because I picture a tree house being the few boards we'd throw up in trees as a kid - not the full on 2 story home they lovingly built in the trees. Definitely future home goals.
Besides staying for the retreat, I'd recommend The Magic Land to anyone who's new to camping, or looking to get outdoors one toe at a time.
