A night at The Nest is worth it for the night sky alone. The property is well maintained and yes, this is roughing it, but everything was clean, including the outhouse and outdoor shower. The road is rough to get to the property is definitely rugged, want a 4WD vehicle. Bring fruit and veggies to feed the llama, alpaca and donkey.

Our stay at Goat House Farm was sheer delight. My husband and I stayed in the Coop, which is a tiny cabin with a bed and a small desk. The space was clean and came equipped with a space heater, which we needed at night. The highlight of the farm is obviously the goats, which are surprisingly friendly. The goats demanded that we pet them (so cute!) and there were kids small enough to hold.

There is a sense of camaraderie on the farm, which was a pleasant touch. Everyone we met was warm and welcoming, There are also lots of chickens and we even had a surprise visit from the neighbor's peacock. If you're okay with roughing it a little with the compost toilet and shared shower (both were well maintained) then the Goat Farm is a great way to feel like you're getting out of town while being 30 minutes from Tallahassee proper.

I had an excellent time at Flatrock Hollow. The property is located within a gated community, which, as a solo female camper, made me feel safe. Even though there are houses surrounding the area once you are past the locked gate you'll feel isolated. There is a port-a-potty stocked with toilet paper and sanitary wipes, but I brought my own t-p. As for the waterfall and pond I couldn't located it, but I also didn't look very hard as I arrived at the campsite late and left early the next day. Overall I would recommend Flatrock Hollow to anyone looking for a pleasant camping experience away from the crowds that state parks tend to attract.
