Booked for a last-minute camping trip. Had a bit of a hard time getting in (was given the wrong code!), and had to drive to Oatmeal to get service again, but once we got a hold of the host and got the correct code, we were able to get in and everything was great! Beautiful secluded spot, you can really see the stars. My partner said the porta-potty was rough but I didn't go in so I can't speak first-hand. Otherwise great spot and would definitely recommend!

Flatrock Hollow
My family had a fantastic time at Flatrock Hollow! This was our first time camping with our two kids, 3 and 5, and it was just perfect. Exploring the creek and waterfall was a blast for all ages - there are shallow areas good for kids to play in, and a deeper swimming area for the bigger people. We saw wild turkeys, cactus flowers in bloom, gorgeous views, and all kinds of interesting plants and insects (nothing scary though). There is a table, fire ring, and separate grill box available which we used for cooking with charcoal. If you're bringing young kids, bring along a potty chair for them so they don't need to use the porta potty. The camp site felt really secluded but it's such easy driving distance from Austin, and best part is we didn't have to share the camp with anyone else! We will definitely be back again and again.

Great spot to camp. Location couldn't be better. Quiet and peaceful. Creek was short walk with markers to keep u from getting lost. Very impressed.

Awesome camp ground with lots to explore and beautiful scenery. Mark provides maps of points of interest, which is super helpful for finding the waterfall and the scenic overlook. Couple of minor gripes however, the paint used to mark the trails had faded a bit, so it was a tad hard to see, not impossible, but if someone was hard of sight it would have been difficult. Second thing, there were some hogs in the area while we were camping that frightened my girlfriend. At first we heard them snorting around past the waterfall, but then when we returned to camp we began to hear a number of them rooting around, and I saw some in the distance. I have no experience dealing with wild hogs, but have heard how they can be aggressive, so that may be a problem in the future. But like I said, those are minor gripes, the overall experience was amazing and would definitely recommend.

We had such a great time at Flatrock Hollow! Close to Austin and yet we felt delightfully removed from the city. The dogs had a blast running around and swimming. We will definitely be going back!

This place was fantastic, even though the weather wasn't. We loved the fire pit (perfect for cooking) and the trails. The stream and waterfall were beautiful (our dog LOVED it) and we can't wait to come back to see it in more seasons. It rained during our stay, but we were easily able to set up a tarp between some cedars to wait out the sprinkles.
Overall it felt amazingly remote without having to drive very far out of the city. As other folks have noted, the RV there definitely takes away from the vibe a bit, and the port-a-potty isn't the most welcoming, but those are really the only two imperfect things you can say about this place. Highly recommend, and we'll be coming back!

Wonderful place. My wife and I camped at Flatrock Hollow for the weekend and had a great time. The place is big enough that you feel like you are truly out there and isolated. There are some good trails within the property and Doeskin Ranch within the Balcones Canyonlands is a very short drive away. There is no electricity, no water, cell phone signal (for verizon) in only one corner of the property. It was great to get away from it all. There is a fire ring, table, a port-o-potty and trash can for use. There was a pile of firewood that we used some of and refiled what we burned with easy to gather wood around the campsite.
The main camping area is near a big RV which wasn't ideal, but if that bothered you there are other spots around the property that you could camp if you didn't want to look at the RV.
The hike to the waterfall is easy and the creek and fall is super cool. It's not huge there there is a nice pool at the bottom that was 3 or 4 feet deep. It was a hot day and the water was cool and refreshing. That really made the place for us.
All in all, a great place that is a wonderful alternative to state parks or other camping options. We whole-hardheartedly recommend Flatrock Hollow!

Great directions and communication. We had a great time in solitude.
Two recommendations if you stay here: bring bug spray and head over to the waterfall. Next time we're in the area, we won't hesitate to stay here again. Thanks for sharing your place with us!

Flatrock Hollow
I enjoyed my time at Flatrock Hollow, access was easy and the owner was gracious enough to allow me to explore the property in my jeep on the already established trails. I was able to find a secluded spot to hang my hammock and wasn't disturbed at all. There was plenty of firewood to gather and sitting by the fire ring was enjoyable in the evening as it was quite chilly while I was there with a hard freeze overnight.
If I was to return I would enquire if it is possible to camp elsewhere on the property though as camping by the RV (unoccupied) kind of took away from the experience of getting away from it all for me.

We had a great time at FH. The information Mark provided before we arrived and map located onsite made our trip a breeze. The waterfall on the property is beautiful and is easily accessible via the clearly marked trail from the main camp area (5-10 minute hike).

Flatrock Hollow
We had an incredible time camping at Flatrock Hollow! The campsite is centralized with easy but adventurous access to the waterfall as well as the lookout. There is a marked trail that leads to the waterfall, so even young ones won't stray too far. The terrain is rugged but conquerable -- you can really get as into the nature as you want. The site was easy to get to and comfortable and safe to stay. Mark was a delight to work with! He was responsive and very accommodating and flexible with our arrival and depature. Highly recommend this campsite!

Flatrock Hollow
This place is awesome. This is my second trip to this spot and will definitely be my "go to" when it is available. It is nice to have private and secure space for a small or larger group. It is a great piece of land perfect for exploring, mountain biking, cooking over the camp fire and drinking beers. Mark is especially accommodating and helpful, and I would absolutely recommend this place for an overnight or weekend getaway from the city.

I had an excellent time at Flatrock Hollow. The property is located within a gated community, which, as a solo female camper, made me feel safe. Even though there are houses surrounding the area once you are past the locked gate you'll feel isolated. There is a port-a-potty stocked with toilet paper and sanitary wipes, but I brought my own t-p. As for the waterfall and pond I couldn't located it, but I also didn't look very hard as I arrived at the campsite late and left early the next day. Overall I would recommend Flatrock Hollow to anyone looking for a pleasant camping experience away from the crowds that state parks tend to attract.

Flatrock Hollow
Flatrock Hollow was excellent! There's a lot to explore during the day, quiet at night, and the star gazing was excellent. The fire pit was excellent on the cold evening. We discovered the waterfall and walked around the many of acres. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet camp that isn't too far from Austin.
