My pup and I stayed at this spacious desert spot in our travel trailer and were greeted with a warm welcome from Jacob. We were only staying for a quick overnight while on a road trip, but Jacob took the time to point out many of the things he seemed to really love about his home and surroundings. And the next morning when we had an early start, Jacob sent us on our way with a lovely rock souvenir. I wish we could have had more time to explore the area, but I know that when passing thru again, I definitely plan to stay here! :)
Past trip
in Road's End, Bradley Lockwood, CaliforniaMy pup and I were able to stay for a couple of nights at this wonderfully quiet Hipcamp. Pulling thru and parking my 22â travel trailer was a breeze, and the promised electric and water hookups were ready. Susan and Jeffery gave us plenty of privacy, but were kind enough to stop by the campsite the first evening to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
The only disappointment (which in no way was my hostsâ fault) was that the area containing the picnic table and fire pit was not a grassy lawn, but foxtails. It was well-kept and short, and normally wouldnât affect my enjoyment in the least. But, if you have a dog that likes grazing and/or sniffing about (like mine does), they may ingest or inhale foxtails that require an unexpected visit to the veterinary hospital. It just meant that my pup didnât get to roam freely on the fenced-in land, which was fine.
Other than that one minor inconvenience, the space is wide open and peaceful. And the sky full of stars at night doesnât disappoint! I look forward to another visit to this beautiful spot!

in Mill Creek Resort, CaliforniaMill Creek Resort was just the peaceful escape I needed for a long weekend. I had no trouble parking my 22â travel trailer in spot #3. Full hookups made for an extra comfy stay!
The surrounding campground appeared to be well cared for, and exploring the mini trails throughout the property kept my pup properly tuckered out. ;)
This is such a beautiful little getaway that I hope to visit again!
Past trip
Lakeside View & Wedding Chapel
in David J.âs Land, CaliforniaA peaceful place along the lake.
My visit to David and Lorettaâs slice of heaven was wonderful. Upon arrival, David met me along the driveway and showed me where I could set up camp. Loretta walked down to my site to introduce herself and offer assistance if I needed anything, also giving me a sweet gift of delicious sugar cookies. Such thoughtful and generous hosts!
There was another couple camping on their property during my visit, but we had more than enough space between our sites to ensure our privacy. I was allowed to set up my 22â travel trailer on the road below their home, and it had the perfect view of the peaceful lake beyond. It was just steps down a slope to reach the lakeâs edge. There were groups of Canadian geese and their goslings swimming along the shoreline each morning which made for an entertaining show during breakfast! The home and its sites are among a residential area, but no neighboring property is so close that you feel watched. And I canât speak for other cellular carriers, but Verizonâs signal was very spotty there.
Overall, it was a great place to go that was not too far from home with just the right amount of nature. I look forward to another chance to stay by the lake!

#4 - Big Meadow, Power & Water
in Jug Handle Creek Farm, CaliforniaMy pup and I stayed in our 22â travel trailer at campsite #4. It was great having electricity and water hookups right at the site. The campground was overall peaceful, with sounds of folks from other sites only drifting in every once in awhile. All of the sites seem to have lots of space between them, which is a nice change from state- and national park campgrounds. The weather was mid-60s during our stay. Some overcast, some sun, but very comfortable in either situation with large meadows for sunbathing and lots of trees for shade. I definitely plan to visit Jughandle Creek again!
