Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

The secured shelter is located atop the ridge on our property. The hiking trail is 0.46 miles long with an elevation gain of 328 feet. I can pack in your gear and provide transport for young children with my ATV.
There is no electricity, but water and an outhouse are available. Inside, you’ll find a wood stove for cold weather and an outdoor fireplace on the porch. The shelter includes two indoor bunks with camping pads provided, along with two hammock hooks on the porch.
The indoor space measures 10x10 feet, with a front porch of the same size. A fire ring with grill and some basic cookware are available—please bring your own utensils. A bear cable is on site for securing food (we do have one known bear in the area).

This house sits at the front of a private little eco-village, Dharma Village. It’s private, and there are no other houses visible around this rental home. It’s an old home — try as you might, you can’t get the old wood smell completely out — but it’s cozy and quiet. Your only neighbors are pygmy dwarf goats, who are far too busy escaping and causing chaos to care about the affairs of this house, which we call Casa Verde.
Much work has been put into this old home, though the porches still need upgrades, and adding a second bathroom is our next goal. It’s just a quick Uber drive to all the fun in Knoxville — 3.2 miles from the Tennessee Theatre. Parking is off-road and abundant, and there’s a fenced-in backyard for pets. A hot tub is on the way, and you can plug in on the property with permission from the owner.

Feel free to settle into the sofas and enjoy your favorite Netflix/Amazon shows. From time to time you will actually see our neighboring pilots practicing with their aircraft.
Vehicle access is clearly marked and very easy to navigate straight to the hangar. Just follow the gravel road at the end of the culdusac all the way to the end where you'll see a large wood sign indicating our Airbnbs. Turn left at the sign and follow the drive all the way up and around to the rear of our main house. Feel free to pull right into the designated parking area for Terminal 1344.
We are McGee Tyson Airport close (10 miles) and just 30 to 45 minutes to Gatlinburg, Dollywood, Anakeesta and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

One of the oldest original homesteads in the area, for nearly 150 years this gem has been in the family. We have shared it with many people over the years and would love to share it with you!

Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

The secured shelter is located atop the ridge on our property. The hiking trail is 0.46 miles long with an elevation gain of 328 feet. I can pack in your gear and provide transport for young children with my ATV.
There is no electricity, but water and an outhouse are available. Inside, you’ll find a wood stove for cold weather and an outdoor fireplace on the porch. The shelter includes two indoor bunks with camping pads provided, along with two hammock hooks on the porch.
The indoor space measures 10x10 feet, with a front porch of the same size. A fire ring with grill and some basic cookware are available—please bring your own utensils. A bear cable is on site for securing food (we do have one known bear in the area).

This house sits at the front of a private little eco-village, Dharma Village. It’s private, and there are no other houses visible around this rental home. It’s an old home — try as you might, you can’t get the old wood smell completely out — but it’s cozy and quiet. Your only neighbors are pygmy dwarf goats, who are far too busy escaping and causing chaos to care about the affairs of this house, which we call Casa Verde.
Much work has been put into this old home, though the porches still need upgrades, and adding a second bathroom is our next goal. It’s just a quick Uber drive to all the fun in Knoxville — 3.2 miles from the Tennessee Theatre. Parking is off-road and abundant, and there’s a fenced-in backyard for pets. Weekend Trip to Crystal Mountain Camping Shelter
It was exactly what I was looking for. I did 4 days alone. You park at the house and head up to the site on a dirt road made for a sidekick or off-road golf cart. The views were great, Noone out there but you and nature. Maynard was a gracious host and communicative. Otherwise he left me alone until check out when he came to pick me and my gear up and take me back to my car.
A well built shack, something to be proud of, with enough room comfortably for two. Two that want to camp, but start with shelter vs a tent. Had a little woodburner inside with plenty of wood and two shelf beds. No water, but potted water for cleaning and whatnot. No electricity. The fire and a simple headlamp was all that was needed. The deck had an old cast iron woodburning stove, perfect for when you want to move from the firepit to the deck and chill with a fire or cook on. I cooked over the firepit though. It was the end of Oct. and fall setting in. Got a little chilly, but with the inside burner, it was cozy. It also had a shelf/sink deal on the outside, perfect for washing up, cleaning up and prepping food.
A small and private outhouse style bathroom. Far enough away from the shack and it also had a great view. Lol
My recommendations would be to ensure you bring enough drinking water. I took a 40pack of bottled water for one, for 4 days and it was enough.
Hands down, I will definitely come back. Maybe this time with a friend.

3 nights at Great Smoky Mountains Getaway
We loved our stay in the hangar! Adrienne and Dean were awesome hosts and the hangar has everything you need. There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy with seating, fire pit options and is highlighted with all the beautiful flowers on the flower farm. Taking a walk through the property will just bring a smile to your face, the flowers are incredible and Adrienne is a wealth of knowledge. The property is near the western border of the Smokeys and close to the Cades Cove area of the park. A quick drive into Maryville will bring you to more urban amenities or activities as well. We felt very at home here and enjoyed cuddling the friendly dogs. If you are in the area, you are missing out by not experiencing this property! We will be coming back anytime we are in the area. Thanks Dean and Adrienne for an awesome trip!

Everything went as expected. We wanted to disconnect and pretty much live off grid for a camping trip. While we did have phone service which was still a plus. We stayed in lake view cabin. No electric no modern anything. It is a hike up hill to that cabin. They say 5 min. I'm a older over weight lady so it took me a bit longer but my 17 year old ran up carrying stuff so definitely not to hard. Very peaceful and we do plan to return. We got to see a momma bear and 2 cubs about 2 miles from where we stayed so that was exciting too. Just remember your going to the mountains it is possible to see bears so be aware of your surroundings. But we slept with the windows and door open and had no problem at all.

I loved the place, Patrick and Angelica are very nice people, I felt pretty comfortable since the beginning. They helped me to change the cabin right there paying the difference, the mattresses are surprisingly comfortable, WIFI worked perfectly fine in my cabin. I was a little worried of getting the no-door cabin because of bugs and safety, but I din't have any problem at all, I slept perfectly fine, you should use repellent though.
The bathrooms are very clean and they have hot water (in case it's cold)
The place is really close from Cumberland Falls, I realized late that Patrick offers Kayaking, Canoeing and other stuff, so I booked on another place beforehand and it was more expensive, I had to drive far and the Kayaking was on the same points than Patrick offer, so feel free to do it with Patrick, is cheaper, you leave your car at the campground and you save a bunch of time.
I'd definitely come back to this place without thinking it again.

Janice was so nice and very accommodating! We stayed at the same site with the shelter up in the hill. Primitive campsite and very private which we loved. Had fires both in the evening and in the morning. The animal life was wonderful! My 6 and 8 year old little boys loved seeing the animals roam around. Great stay!

Campsites are small with little privacy but we rented a boat and stayed on the lake during the day so it didn't matter. Beautiful lake with several restaurants on the water.
