The first white explorer to traverse the future Benson area was Gideon S. Careful here in late summer. There's a cow pasture nearby and the flies were completely out of control (constantly had flies landing on me from the time I got out of the tent in the morning to the time I got back in) when I was here in August '20. Absolutely beautiful scenery and lots to do, hopefully they mitigate the fly problem somehow.

The sites here are not very private but if you go in the month of October to the primitive sites along the river , you will most likely have the place to yourselves .
