Camp along the Kettle River at this small four-site campground, where you can spend your days swimming, tubing, relaxing by the fire, or exploring the surrounding trails. With direct river access, an on-site sauna, and plenty to do nearby, it's an easy place to settle in for a relaxing outdoor getaway.
Each of our four campsites includes a fire ring, picnic table, hammock, and clothesline. An outhouse is conveniently located near the campsites, and a walking trail loops around the campground and follows the river.
One of the highlights of the property is our sauna, surrounded by a privacy fence and stocked with wood and water for guests. There's also an outdoor gravity shower. Camping stoves are available if needed, and 16 oz propane tanks can be purchased on-site.
When you're ready to cool off, head to the Kettle River for a swim or grab one of our tubes. A favorite way to enjoy the property is to enter the river near the bridge and float downstream to the edge of the property, climb out, and do it all over again.
We're also close to the Soo Line Trail, with plenty more to explore throughout the area. Barnum and Moose Lake are less than 15 minutes away, and both Banning State Park and Jay Cooke State Park are nearby.
For a trip into town, check out live music at KR Bar and Grill on Fridays, grab coffee at the Chickadee in Barnum or Joe Jitters in Moose Lake, or visit the Saturday summer farmers markets in Moose Lake and Cloquet.

Great quiet relaxing location, with wildlife and the sound of the country. You will have the only camp site on the property. You can stay in the small camping cabin in comfort with your own bedding, or bring a sleeping bag. We have the twin bed in the loft, or use the futon on the main level. The cabin only has room for two adults unless you bring a camp pad to sleep on the floor, or squeeze in a child, but you have the comforts of an A/C , a Weber grill, mini fridge, microwave, and Electricity. Quiet former country farm site, with great wildlife viewing options with walking trails. Only 23 miles to DT St. Cloud and 7 Miles to the Walmart in Princeton for food or supplies. If a shower is desired the Kwik Trip in St Cloud, on Hwy 10 has showers. Just a half mile off Hwy 95 and 5 miles from the large Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, with trails and lots of wildlife. In the Fall expect to see a large amount of wildlife with many migrating birds come out of the refuge to feed. Expect to hear Pheasant's cackle in the AM, and see Sandhill Cranes and Geese fly over the camp site, or sitting in area fields. Enjoy time around a campfire with folding chairs and a picknick table, with plenty of free dry firewood in a storage rack.

Activities include swimming at local beaches, Nemadji State Forest, General CC Andrews State Forest, ATV riding, lots of great fishing lakes, several rivers for kayaking and canoeing, local restaurants, coffee houses, movie theater, general store, shopping, antiques/craft, grocery, gas, local brewery, agate center, fire museum.
The land was purchased by the Sway family in the late 70's from a farmer and has been in the family since. We are one of the 4 current land owners of this property and plan to keep the land in the family as long as we can.
Our home was built in 2011 on part of the property. Since living here we have used the land for hiking, gardening, wood harvesting, selling Christmas trees, and now we are excited for our new adventure of opening a small part of our land for camping.

Our professionally designed 18-hole disc golf course winds through the woods and along the river. Overnight guests can play any time during their stay, and the course is also open to the public on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Mirror Hypedomes (Glamping)
Our insulated domes are designed for quiet, comfortable stays and are ideal for couples. Each includes a king bed, wood stove (firewood provided), electric heat, AC in the summer season, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, outdoor seating, fire ring, and private river access. Included wood-fired, coil thermosiphon hot tubs are the ultimate camping luxury during the summer season.
Private Bathroom & Shower: Each dome comes with its own private bathroom and shower, just for your party. It's in the main building, a short walk from the domes.
Pets: Leashed pets are welcome everywhere outside on the property, but they can't stay inside the domes.
Winter Season (Oct 19 – May 1)
The domes stay open all year! During the winter season the wood-fired hot tubs are out of service (we shut them off once nights drop below freezing), and the rate is $179 a night with a 1-night minimum. The wood stove keeps things cozy, and firewood is provided. Plan to keep the fire going overnight on the coldest nights.
Rustic Campsites
Walk-in tent sites offer a simple, peaceful way to experience the land. The property includes one Riverside Group Site (up to four tents) and four individual tent sites along the river. Sites are bring-your-own-gear. A porta potty serves the campsite area.
Walk-In Access: All campsites are walk-in only, with no vehicles past the main lot. Park there and use one of our carts to haul your gear. The trail can be muddy or uneven after rain, so plan on two trips if you're bringing a lot.
Water: The campsites don't have water or electrical hookups. You can fill up with drinking water at the main building by the parking lot, so bring a jug or refillable bottles to carry back to your site.
Optional add-on: shared private bathroom & shower access in the main building (limited availability, advance purchase required).

Feel free to roam around the 10-acre property and explore the 80 acres of state land to the north. Deer, foxes, coyotes, turkeys, owls, eagles and more are likely to be seen or heard. Explore, Banning, Moose Lake, and Father Hennepin State Parks which are all within 30 minutes, and return to the cabin to read, play games, listen to records, have a fire, and relax.
The kitchen provides you with everything you need to prepare your meals including a refrigerator, small freezer, stove, oven, cookware, cutting boards, sink, seasonings, oil, and coffee.
Water for washing is available from an electric pump faucet in the kitchen, and a brand-new outhouse is located steps from the cabin.
The cabin is efficiently heated and cooled with a user-friendly heat pump and gets the cabin to your desired temperature very quickly.
We are grateful to honor the Dakota and Anishinaabe people whose land we occupy by donating $10 from every booking to the Makoce Ikikcupi Land Recovery Project. This central location offers access to any and all amenities. After a day on the trails, in town, or on the water, an evening at the fire pit overlooking the lake is a perfect way to end the day. Wind down, relax and enjoy the trees, lake and nature surrounding you. We expect all guests to respect the neighborhood, lake and nature!

Any winter camping is at your own digression and snow removal will only be provided on the neighborhood road(s) up to the entrance of the site. The Hamlet Lake homestead is our 10-acre family home with two unique and private hip-camp sites. We have both lakeshore (in front) and a hobby farm with cows, chickens and goats in our back lawn and woods. The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake. The Camp on Hamlet Hill (closed for 2026) is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back. We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill, near which guests can view our fenced-in animals. Guests can also access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included. At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.

Two campsites or our chalet which sleeps five are available. Campsites are near a fabulous 10 acre deep spring fed lake. One campsite is in the prairie with a expansive view where 5 or 6 tents are possible. 2nd campsite is for one tent and is lakeside. Quiet peaceful trails through the woods. Animals at the home base (outside only). The chalet (in the pictures) , has all the needed amenities; shower, fridge, etc. No food or oil or gas or soap in the lake. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, always on a leash or tether, and never indoors. We do have life jackets available, but no sizes appropriate for small children (bring your own). Enjoy a peaceful escape on our private 3.5-acre lot, perfect for tent camping or RVs. The upper site includes an electric hook-up, outhouse, and a dedicated fire pit for campfires under the stars. Surrounded by woods on either side, it offers a quiet, semi-secluded spot for nature lovers.
A short trail (400 feet or a little over a football field) leads through the forest to the Snake River, where you’ll find a second fire pit with chairs, solar lighting, and a private dock that is shared with just our cabin and a campsite. If you are tenting, you can tent at the river but do not drive on the trail. The river is great for fishing, swimming, canoeing, or kayaking, and can accommodate small boats. Multiple public boat landings are located up and down the river for easy drop off and access points.
The property lines are outlined in the overview picture. Please do not go to the east of the trail to provide ample space for privacy with our neighbors. The red on the map is the camping area with electricity and outhouse. Our personal log cabin is the blue dot but there is a significant tree line in between. If we are there, we are happy to give you a tour. The blue line is the trail. The white area is our property on the river and available for tent only or to hang out for the day if you choose to camp up top.
While the site does not have running water, you’ll be camping right next to our family cabin, and we’re happy to help with anything you might need.
There’s also plenty to explore nearby. Just minutes away, Braham offers a quirky “hole-in-the-wall” bowling alley and some charming local shops. Head over to Pine City for more options, including restaurants, a larger grocery store, and additional shopping. History buffs will enjoy visiting the Snake River Fur Trading Post, a Minnesota historical site. And if you’re in the mood for a local treat, Sapsucker Farms is a nearby cidery open on weekends, often hosting live music, food trucks, and hiking trails. There are 5 State Parks within a 40-minute drive. Ask us for even more ideas—we're happy to share local favorites!

We had such a fabulous time on our mom’s weekend trip. The hosts were very attentive and responsive before, during and after our stay. They were extremely helpful at every stage & really went the extra mile. The campsite itself was clean, beautiful and perfect for a group of 4 women. It was a short walk to the portapotty , but it had a charging station and lights. The campfire didn’t have a grate, but we were provided with ample firewood. Canoeing was one of our favorite experiences. I read a book at the end of the dock in the morning and it was lovely. We heard owls and other animals and saw plenty stars. A wheel barrel was provided to bring our stuff up and was surprisingly easier than I thought. Would definitely give the hosts and the campsite 5 gold stars.

First time camping solo and couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Kettle River Base Camp is peaceful and quaint. With only 4 camp sites, it allows you to really appreciate the property. The river, just a short walk from the site, provided the slice of Northern Minnesota serenity I was looking for.
Amanda made the experience seemless. Her support and responsiveness removed any uncertainties I had Camping alone for the first time. It's clear that she genuinely cares about the experiences of her guests.
If you're looking for a camping get away, I cannot recommend a better place than Kettle River Base Camp.

Weekend Trip to Bundo's Cabin
Bundo’s Cabin was truly a dream. It was exactly what we needed for a quiet weekend away: cozy, peaceful, and such a beautiful place to unplug and slow down. We spent our time listening to vinyls, cooking good food, hiking around the property, and just enjoying being away from the everyday hustle.
The host was incredibly kind, responsive, and made everything so easy. You can tell how much thought and care has gone into creating this little getaway. We left feeling so relaxed and already hoping we can come back again.

We loved how peaceful it was at Robert’s cabin. Opportunity for both a fire outside and a wonderful hike. The colors are gorgeous this time of year and Harvest Loon Camp did not disappoint. You can be as busy as you want or just relax and read a good book or play a game. Great escape. We would recommend this place to anyone. Great place to experience all 4 seasons too!

We ended up carrying our gear to the area near the river, it was more private and further from the road than the main site. The bathroom was clean and well-lit, and both firepits were great. It was pretty noisy in the evenings and early mornings from hunters nearby.
