2 nights at SOGGY BOTTOMS CAMPGROUND

We loved camping at Soggy Bottoms. Casey was more than hospitable. He was very kind and genuine. We camped right on green river! We floated, and sat in our chairs in the middle of the creek!!!! Plenty of privacy, Coming back soon!!! Also found nice trails and the drive through the river to get to town really made this place special. 10/10

We had an amazing time at the frisbee lawn spot in our camper van! Awesome sunsets, beautiful meadow flowers, giant mowed lawn so many options to park depending what views you want with a long cord for power. Kevin was so knowledgeable about the ecosystem on his property and the surrounding area. You can tell he puts a lot of love into his space We did the kayak tour, Kevin dropped us off at the Denison ferry kayak landing and picked us up a couple hours later at the Green ferry landing. The water was moving fast so we just floated down the river. It was great! He was super communicative and we had fun chatting with him We also bought firewood from Kevin so that was very conviennent

Weekend Trip to Soggy Bottoms Campground

The owner went over the top to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Even offered to let us use some of his bait traps to catch shad at the river. All the spots except for a few was super shaded, and well spaced from the neighbors. Definitely will be making trips back to this place!

Campground is beautiful, water is perfect for spending the day in, and the owners are sweet, fun people. We will definitely visit again! The owner even sang happy birthday to my boyfriend! We had three sites full of dogs, kids, and friends. Great weekend!

Kevin is a great host. Very kind and accommodating with every interaction. It’s a peaceful and beautiful plot of land with lots to do in and around the area. The sunrises are unbeatable.

Really great spot, laid back camping. Bathroom had towels and toiletries provided which was a really nice touch. Watching sunset next to the horses was really beautiful. (Ps if you are visiting Mammoth Cave National Park it’ll be 40ish minute drive to the visitor center, but when you search for the park itself, Google Maps will say it’s only a few minutes away).

This site was wonderful for our family visiting Mammoth Cave. Kristen was a joy to talk with and very responsive. The animals were lovely to see and interact with, the bathrooms were clean, and the site had everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for a better place. We would love to stay again if we visit again.

Weekend Trip to Noble Pine Campground

We had a lovely stay this past weekend! The scenery was beautiful and peaceful — a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. The goats, horses, and chickens were such a fun and charming bonus. Kristen was a wonderful host, super kind and welcoming. She gave us a great tour when we arrived and was easy to communicate with throughout. It’s also a manageable and beautiful 40-minute drive to the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center, which made it a great location for our trip. Would definitely recommend!

My experience at the Hickory Field Campsite on Kevin’s land was exceptional. His directions were clear and the information he provided regarding the site was right on. I had such a lovely and peaceful night enjoying the campfire and the scenery. Additionally, Kevin’s friendliness and welcoming nature made me feel so content and safe while staying on his land. His 3 pups were also a highlight!!

This new-in-formation ecological art project is currently recruiting visitors to backcountry camp in beautiful fields, on woodland rim sites, or at delicate campsites located along a system of woodland trails. As of 2025, camping here provides a glimpse into the fourth year of succession, which at this phase is characterized by spacious views of a gently rolling young prairie seeded with a growing variety of native flowers. Most likely a good fit for those who are self-sufficient and like to avoid busy camping areas, but still want to get out to the park quickly (~7 miles to the Visitors Center) or travel into Cave City (3 mi) for coffee/ice-cream/pizza/barbecue/bar/food/etc. Expand from the campsite into a sketch-work of trails, as if were camping near the headquarters of a satellite nature reserve. Water tap and hose by main house parking area, for cleaning dishes, spraying off, or filling reservoirs. Camping funds allow us to plant trees (~525 seedlings as of March 2025), establish prairie grasses and flowers, restore wetlands, create trails, and remove invasive species. If you have only 2 days, a nice way to experience Mammoth Cave NP is to break the trip into 3 layers, covering the underworld (cave tours!), upper world (hiking), and the water that connects the two (Green River kayaking). Mammoth Cave is unique in the way that a study of the underworld will repeatedly draw the mind into a creative space of imagining what is beneath the surface, how these worlds are connected, while navigating the land and water. We offer custom kayak departures and pick-ups tailored to your schedule and travel constraints. Thanks to our visitors for supporting this type of project! Bundles of dried and split firewood are available onsite, usually a mix oak with a suggested donation of $6/bundle, delivered to the campsite. Kayaks are hosted on a suggested donation basis ($45), providing a flexible option for visitors to float the Green River through the national park. Pending availability, we offer tent setups as well to folks who want to camp but aren't traveling with gear (REI 4 person Half Dome). Tent setup comes with two sleeping pads (you will need pillows, blankets, etc.).

Learn more about this land: I live on 5.5 acres. It's peaceful and quiet and I love it here. I've stayed at other hip camps and simply decided that I would love to share my little slice of heaven with others passing through my area. Notes: there is a wee bit of road noise, I live on a dead end road, there are 10 acres between my 5 acres and the Blue Grass Parkway. I find it peaceful here and can easily ignore it but I'm mentioning it so your not surprised by it ;) The Neighbor dog (Roxy) is very friendly and might visit you while you are here :) You are welcome to hang a hammock in a small section of woods, by a small pond, or even on my covered porch. You are welcome to pitch a tent anywhere you like. You are welcome to park an RV or vehicle in the drive. The drive is about 250ft long, you would need to back in in order to hook up to the 30 or 50 amp plug. RV's can use the 30 or 50 amp plug (30 amp will need an adapter. I have one you can use if you don't own one of your own) and hose for water. I have an outdoor shower and a camping toilet. I am ... - one hour from Lexington, Louisville, Elizabethtown, and Frankfort.- 1 mile from a mini mart with Gas, Ice, Pizza, Chicken Wings, Sandwiches, ect.- 6 miles from Dollar General and A pizza Restaurant - 15 ish miles from Wal-mart and other chain stores and restaurants I'm a great travel guide so feel free to tell me what your in town for or things you like to do. I will happily make you up a list of things to do and see and places to eat. Keenland, Churchill Downs, The Bourbon Tour (Jim Beam, Makers Mark, Heaven Hill, and many others) are within an hour of here. Also within an hour are 2 great bike paths, wonderful hiking and kayaking. As well as Great Shopping and Restaurants. Anything your heart desires.

Pine horse farm

A working horse farm with some wooded areas and lots of spots to pitch a tent or hammock. We have a friendly dog, 2 mini highland cows and currently 3 horses! We are on 20 acres. We are constantly improving our land and are expanding our horse boarding as we do so. Close to Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace , Mcdougal Lake and the main square in Hodgenville which has cute little restaurants and places to walk During summer there are lots of wild blackberries to pick on the perimeter of the pasture (this is usually June-July only). We are bordered on woods so camping can be done in the trees as well or in our nice open area right as soon as you come up the drive. Outside our barn/house we have water and electric outlets as needed. In the open area or the woods there are several trees that can be used for a hammock as well. We do have a large fire pit and a ton of wood fires can be started as long as we are not under a burn ban if we are having a dry summer or fall. If you're on the bike trail, come inside and take a shower in our simple country home. We will have amenities for you and every day someone will be home from 9am-noon, and 6pm-9pm with more hours open on the weekend. If you let us know we can work around what time you will be arriving.
