What a great spot, in this adorable mini home. I loved that there was an outdoor area to widen the space. It was the perfect spot to stay, and visit the nearby national parks, one to the east and one to the west. Our hosts were so sweet and extremely accomodating. We hope to be back again one day. Very nice little campground with clean bathrooms and showers. My lot was right on the small beach area so it felt fairly public, but everyone was friendly. It was a perfect site for my 12 foot teardrop camper. I will request the same lot the next time I go!

This space was incredible and you have to experience it for yourself! It's private and perfectly positioned between 2 national parks (Biscayne and Everglades) and the hosts are so kind and laid back. The whole property is fascinating, with exotic fruit trees, beautiful lights at night, and wild Peakcocks, but there's also a casual energy to the host's style that makes you feel at peace, even though you're a stone's throw from huge metropolitan areas. Joe came over and made my quiet senior doggo feel loved and my big loud doggo feel welcome.
The site was safe and private and Joe was super friendly. The dwarf bananas he had were the most delicious things! He even gave us advice on how to cook them (they were delicious raw as well).
Lord willing, we'll be back to enjoy this gorgeous property again.

Jack is a polite host with a beautiful property and we enjoyed our stay. There's no "good and bad" in this review, but there is "great" and "less than great".
The great: Anyone that has stayed in the Keys knows that space is tight -- it's hard to find a private section of beach (and there's a dock!) while camping in an RV. The property itself is gorgeous, well maintained, and the sunsets are more beautiful than any photo. There's an abundance of sea life and sponges in the waters around the docs, which were just a short walk from the site. Jack kindly allowed us to use our Starlink on the doc and work from the ample, comfy furniture he supplies along the bay beach. We also enjoyed his list of recommendations -- the Fish House and Key Largo Fisheries were our favorites. For snorkle tours, check out Silent World -- it was a trip highlight.
The less-than-great: 1- If you have a bigger rig and are a novice or intermediate operator, coordinate with the host -- they will help! My advice (I have a 28ft toy hauler): don't pull through the gates, back your rig from the road down the driveway into your spot. 2-The rules for dogs on the property are strict, but fair. There are 3 camp sites very close to each other, an air bnb, and a dry camp site on the beach that necessitate the host rules. I do not enjoy campgrounds and this property is not that, but there are a lot of people staying in close proximity at any given time.

We had a great stay in Loida and Alex's camper! The location was perfect for us -- just 10 minutes from the entrance to Everglades NP but also close to town, making it easy to pick up groceries. The camper was cozy, spotless, and well-stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The property was quiet with a lot of privacy, but it was nice having the hosts around in case we had any issues. Overall, a great way to end our trip to South Florida!

This 11-acre island, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, stands as a silent witness to the bustling activity of the early 1800s, when the island thrived on the lucrative business of salvaging cargo from shipwrecks. The remnants of the past are evident in the ruins that dot the island. Once home to transient fishermen, turtlers, and wreckers, the island's fate changed when Jacob Housman, a visionary from Key West, bought it in 1831. With ambitions to rival the wrecking monopoly in Key West, Housman transformed Indian Key into a hub of activity. From a store and hotel to warehouses and wharves, his empire was vast and influential. His audacious move to establish Indian Key as the first county seat for Dade County in 1836 further showcased his ambitions. However, like many tales of ambition, Housman's story took a tragic turn. Legal battles, the loss of his wrecker's license, and the devastating attack by Chief Chekika's warriors in 1840 marked the end of his empire. The ruins on the island today are poignant reminders of this tumultuous past. For campers, the allure of Indian Key Historic State Park lies not just in its scenic beauty but in the stories that echo with every step.
