I had a wonderful few nights on Erica's land. I felt safe and the location was perfect to explore so many areas between the Keys, Everglades, Biscayne, and Big Cypress NP. I even saw some manatees in the nearby canel leading to Biscayne! I would definitely recommend and stay here again. As other stated it does get buggy at night but it's FL so I wouldn't expect anything less. There is also a Planet Fitness, along with many shops and restaurants nearby but once your on the property you wouldn't know it with how peaceful it was.

Perfect camping spot

This spot was perfection. A true "get away" but the safety of being very close to the "regular world" very low key, beautiful spot with great views and truly felt alone being the only people for I assume miles. We will be staying here again when we visit Florida later this year even going to stay longer as this is a wonderful home base for the surrounding areas attractions

It took the host around 1 1/2 - 2 hours to give us the gate code after we arrived. Gate is very wonky and would not be easy to open if you have any physical disabilities. There were no trash bins available to use even though his page said there were bins. There was also a whole mishap where we requested to stay a few more days and host never responded to the request ( I didn’t realize that he hadn’t ). I had let him know before hand we were thinking of doing this. We’re new to hip camp and assumed it went through properly because the payment page came up and I accepted it. I guess he never saw it. He blew up our phones two days later very aggressively saying we didn’t pay for the extra days. We had no problem paying for the extended stay, we thought we had. We still even made a new booking to stay the extra few days after that had happened. We pay our fair share. I can see where he was coming from but all it was, was a case of miscommunication. He had no reason to be as rude as he was on the phone when we were just trying to explain what happened. Good luck on the gamble of staying here if you do, read the reviews. He may not even give you the gate code at all.

Worst start to a hipcamp spot I've ever had. Waited at gate for hours without the code to get in. Hungry, tired, kids stuck in car ect. Finally after hours of waiting he bothered to give us the code and we proceeded to set up camp after dark and hours after we had planned to. Disregarding that, it was a pretty nice field and the location can't be beat! We were the only campers at the time and enjoyed the birds and wildlife viewing and quick drive to the beach and the Keys. There was lots of trash around, but not just on his property, seems to be the norm for that area? Minimal shade and lots of determined mosquitoes, but that's to be expected. The soft grassy field with a break from the wind was great after camping on sandy beaches for days beforehand. If he can start remembering to send you the gate code, it could be a pretty nice spot.

L’endroit est très tranquille. Terrain perdu au milieux d'un plantation de palmier. Pas facile à trouver et il n’y avait personne pour accueillir, j’ai parlé avec Éric au téléphone et il m’a dit de me trouver un coin et de m’installer.

Very rustic, nice though. Definitely “Gods Country” for the area. Enjoyed the spot and area very much, mosquitos were very bad after the sun went down, but it’s to be expected for where it is, just prepare.

Good place…. Not many bugs. NASCAR track is close. But, it isn’t that bothersome the noise. Safe and secure. Plenty of firewood. But, I’d suggest bringing big pieces for when the fire is lit. Walmart is close. 8 out of 10. Would reserve and camp again.

We love this camping spot! Secluded yet close to everything. Beautiful and serene. Definitely coming back. We booked one night and decided to extend our stay.. The dogs were insisting we stay even longer but we had to tell them no :). Can’t wait to return!

Good open areas for camping and conveniently located to Biscayne National park. Not far from box stores and petrol stations. I would stay there again.

Enjoyed our stay! Was easy for us to find and get in. Erik made sure to get back to us quickly. We set up our tent and the ground was comfy! Haha but overall a nice site.

This was described as place one could relax peacefully and enjoy the outdoors. That was impossible as there were a blanket of mosquitoes on us immediately upon arrival that didn’t even stop after the sun went down. As seasoned Floridian primitive campers, we will say this was not fit for humans. Even when we retreated into our camper literally hundreds of them followed us in and we spent over an hour swatting them with our electric zapper. Our sleep was disturbed as the mosquitoes kept on seeming to come out of their hiding when we let our guard down. This should only be offered as a camping space during the dead of winter. “In Gods Country” must be referring to a wrathful god. We could wait for the sun to rise enough for them to retreat and we hightailed it out of there. We want a full refund.

Nice quiet spot, host Erick responded quickly to questions, directions were exact! Would stay here again if in the area! At least some sites did have tables, which was a nice convenience.

The land itself was alright and the location is ideal being situated between Mariano and the Keys. It took a while to get the gate access code and once I got in the property it was difficult to determine where my site actually was.

This property is just as Erick described. There is some mud, nothing crazy AWD got me in and out 2 days in a row. It is close to town, but feels miles away. There is a nice lil pond and it is very quiet. I suggest bug spray, or citronella as it does get pretty buggy after sunset. This is an excellent place to stay for someone who is used to dry camping. As a solo female I felt safe and secure inside the locked gates!

If you have a big rig (30ft+) or heavy vehicle AND the ground is wet you could get stuck, also it’s close to Homestead racing circuit, if it is active you’ll hear it all. Not much to do there but it’s 4 miles from Biscayne National Park. Gate could be improved.

It’s out away from everything, which is fine. You have to go when it’s dry. The main road on the way in and leading to the sites needs a lot of gravel. If you want to be with nature it’s perfect not suitable for large rvs especially if it’s wet.

The land is close to Biscayne, which was ideal for my purposes. The host, Erik, was flustered when I went to check in after dark (despite having years of camping experience) and seemed to think I wouldn’t understand what “primitive camping” meant based on my call asking for the code. I am unsure if this is because I am a woman. Erik also mentioned robberies happening here recently, not a great feeling as a solo traveller. He can consider updating his posting with clear check out procedures; he got his dates mixed up and didn’t realize I had already finished my two night trip. With some changes, I think this spot could be useable for future hip campers at a low price.

We never got to experience the camping site since we never got a code for the lock and had to camp outside the locked gate. Sent a message to the host through Hipcamp's direct message but he never responded.

Isolated bliss w/ mosquitos

This is real camping, no doubt! Absolutely beautiful isolated campsite, I had the place to myself and my dog and I were thrilled to be there. There is a racetrack very close by that you can hear during the day, but everyone packs up and goes home in the evening. I would highly recommend to anyone that is comfortable/confident camping in more rural areas and is equipped for the heat and humidity of florida. Be prepared for lots of mosquitos as it is swampy. Having Biscayne National Park just 10 minutes away kicked butt! Thanks Erick!

Eric’s Campsite

The site is as described but not quite as I expected it. I had difficulty finding the entrance although the Google map reference is spot on, the gate was locked, I didn’t have the code and there was no signage. The gravel road was not identifiable as it is now covered in grass. Eric when I managed to contact him was great and gave me precise instructions. From SW328 street turn into SW117 Avenue at the flashing red light signal then turn right into SW336 street which is a gravel road with a damaged sign, the Site is on the right after about 3/4 mile. On your right just before the turning is a large yellow container. The campsite ground is soft and evidence of RV’s getting bogged down. Once through the gate turn right into the campsite a continue a little way along the entrance track. There is no-where to turn round unless you enter the campsite so reverse in or out. There are a couple of BBQ’s there but no-one on site. No walking trails directly from the site. The Biscayne National Park is worth a visit. A photo of the site entrance would be helpful
