The Redwoods Bend Retreat is a place to get away from it all. Located on the Yurok reservation right on the Klamath River just outside Orick, CA, we are "off the grid", through a Redwood forest and over a mountain down into the Klamath River valley. We have a 5 acre meadow, and orchard with 50 trees, peaches pears, apples, cherries, plums, pluots, apricots and grapes. We are right on the Klamath river. It's a great place to come and recharge your internal batteries. There is no cellphone service and none of our sites have internet service.
Our Main House was built in 1952 and retains the flavor of the 50’s. It houses a kitchen, dining hall, a living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower.
Our log-built Lodge overlooks the Klamath River with 3 bedrooms, a full kitchen, bathroom and wrap-around covered porch.
Our Pumpkin and Blue Cottages. They are close to the double Yellow Shower house and toilets, and they have hot and cold running water, a propane cooktop, and a wood stove for heat. We do NOT have refrigeration, and our solar batteries or generator provides us lights at night. Campers who use our Cottages may use their own sleeping bags, but we have beds with mattresses and pillows and clean bedding. We also have an Upper Barn bedroom and half-bath rental.
Our two-story Riverview Yurt appeals to folks who want a full kitchen, a private shower and flush toilet overlooking the Klamath river from our 50 x 50 foot upper deck. Luscious to sit outside and watch the river flow by during the day, and to let the water lull you to sleep at night. For families (up to 8), folks who like to fish, or old friends who just want a very special get-away.
Each of our six campsites have a picnic table and a fire pit. Our Maple River, Grotto River and Pepperwood River sites overlook the gorgeous Klamath River. Our Morning Meadow, Orchard Meadow, and Deer Meadow sites are close to our 5 acre meadow where blacktail deer graze in the evenings.
We have a Yellow double Shower House with two separate sides, each with a toilet, sink and shower and on demand hot water, so folks don't have to wait. There's also a new Camp Shower at the corner of the orchard for our campers, along with two outhouses for camper use, one at the bottom of the road down to the meadow, and another in the woods just past Deer Meadow Camp.
We see lots of wildlife; silver foxes, a bald eagle and a family of river otters downstream, vultures, blue heron, occasionally an osprey will fly overhead clutching a freshly caught salmon and call to each other to brag about it! There are rare sightings of timid black bears who run from humans, but sometimes can be seen grazing in the meadow with the black-tail deer.
We're surrounded by old logging trails made by the lumber companies 80 years ago when they clear cut the old growth redwood on our side of the mountain, and now it's completely reforested with 200 ft tall Doug Fir, Madrone, Cedar, Oak, other pine species and Pepper wood trees, and we have written permission from the Green Diamond company to allow guest to hike on their adjacent properties.

You will appreciate the peace and quiet of this little cabin on Rock Creek, situated on 11 acres of forest in Williams Oregon. The only sounds you'll hear are the birds in the trees and the flowing creek water. Enjoy sitting on the deck overlooking the confluence of Rock Creek and East Fork Williams Creek. A bridge crosses Rock Creek and there is a hiking trail beyond.
Our garden hot tub is a welcome place to soak and enjoy the stars at night. Its an older tub but still keeps the water at 102 degrees.
Our cabin has a kitchenette with a small fridge, sink, 2-burner gas stovetop, microwave, teapot, crockpot, toaster, and 2-cup coffee maker, plus a few dishes, cutlery, and pots and pans - enough for simple meal preparation. Coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer are provided.
The cabin has a small woodstove as its only heat source. A little wood can be provided, and we provide newspaper, matches, and fire starters. There is an abundance of kindling around the property - great for getting a fire going. The stove holds 18" x 4" split logs, if you have some to bring. There are two smaller stuffed chairs, and two bar stools at a counter/bar with views of the creek.
The bathroom has a shower and vanity sink, and towels and toiletries are provided. There is hot and cold running water, although the 3-gallon hot water heater limits showers to less than 5 minutes.
Nice sturdy steps lead up to the loft upstairs which has an 8" full-sized (wider than a twin but narrower than a queen) memory foam mattress with fresh linens. The loft is low and cozy which allows the camper to sit up on the bed but not stand up.
A compost toilet is about 100 yards away, and has a rechargeable motion detector indoor light. Bring your flashlights to find the compost toilet as well as the hot tub as the property is very dark.
WiFi is available. The password is listed in the binder on the table. Some games and puzzles are provided.

Our 160-acre property is surrounded by about a million acres of National Forest. Our neighborhood is all made of trees, huckleberry bushes and animals. We love it here. It is very remote, peaceful, and functionally sustainable in its focus. The closest neighbor is a Buddhist Hermitage about a mile up the forestry road. Also, supposedly, Sasquatch live here! (it is the epicenter for documented sightings).
Most visitors to the area are interested in spending time in the redwoods – we are about 30-45 minutes from the nearest entrance to Jedediah Smith Park, home of Stout Grove and other beautiful redwood hikes. Driving into Crescent City, about 45-60 minutes, winds you right through the "gentle giants" on your way to or from Redwood National Park.
We are self-sufficient, and sustainable in a relatively primitive set-up, especially after the fire this year. It's mountainous and remote, and we have a community agreement about no smoking (of any kind) on our land.

We booked the gnome dome at the last minute and so glad we did! It was a very cold winter night but we were warm and cozy inside. The hosts were responsive and friendly. It was a very easy process.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Jacob's Riverside Gem! It's rustic enough to feel adventurous and homey enough to feel warm and comfy in the winter. It's obvious that Jacob has put a lot of heart and soul into this little cabin because of all the artistic touches you will find throughout. The firewood was well stocked, the property was beautiful with many fresh fungi to observe, and the little kitchen was perfect for making delicious meals. The fridge is quite small with no freezer, so if you want to bring fresh food for cooking, I recommend bringing a cooler. The shower is not far from the cabin, so it's easy to get a hot shower in and run back inside to the warm cabin. Make sure to bring your own bath towel. The bathroom is farther from the cabin, but I enjoyed the walk there, especially at night when I could look at the stars.
We didn't get to enjoy the outdoor space very much, seeing as we visited in winter, but we definitely want to come back in the summer to enjoy all that this little cabin and the Smith River area has to offer. If you're looking for a quaint place to stay while adventuring in the area, you've found the right place!

Patrick and Maya are so great! Check in was super smooth and they even upgraded us to a better RV cause of some technical difficulties. The campground was private, cute, and nicely maintained. If we come back around to the area we would definitely camp there again. Also, the hiking trails are well kept and they had Starlink for speedy WiFi.

Stayed in one of the A-frames with my two small dogs for a weekend and had a lovely time. It was a stormy, rainy couple of days in October, so I didn’t get to explore the property or surrounding area much, but that ended up being perfect since I had just come to relax anyway. Once I got set up inside (with some string lights, a hot water bottle, and a good book), it felt nice and cozy. I was glad to have brought the hot water bottle and a couple of extra blankets, b/c the temps inside were roughly the same as they were outside.
The transparent panels make it feel like you’re sleeping among the trees, and the sound of rain on the roof was wonderful. The roof is corrugated steel, so the first time an acorn pinged off it I just about jumped out of my skin, but we got used to it quickly. Ultimately I think those noises were part of the charm. Saw some beautiful deer and lots of wild turkeys.
As a woman camping solo, I felt very safe. The property isn’t completely remote (it’s tucked next to a neighborhood and there’s a private residence onsite) but it still has a peaceful, wilderness feel, especially in late October when there were fewer visitors.
For anyone curious (since I couldn’t find this info beforehand), each A-frame has its own fire ring and picnic table.

This little camper checks all the boxes: Quiet, private, clean, solid roof to keep you dry and warm, SUPER comfy bed, and the softest sheets. If you want the campground experience without the camping then look no further. Birdie is low frills, but has everything you need. Yes, you can hear the 101 during the day, but it's pretty much dead silent at night (the campground has electric hook-ups so you won't hear generators running). It's beautiful, there's a redwood to greet you in the morning...what more could you want!

I love this place. I’ll stay here any chance I get. It’s lovely. Spacious camp sites. Hot tea and coffee area. The river. The outdoor showers. And the A frames are so cool! But I recommend arriving in the daylight if it’s your first time. I came after dark and I’m pretty sure I would have been lost if I didn’t already know my way around. It’s not well lit at night. Makes for good sleep— but def bring a head lamp.

Weekend Trip to Cedar Bloom
Cedar bloom is great! This was my second time staying there and first in the dome. It was cold and having a fireplace was amazing. The community kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes and cookware needed to cook a meal. The bed was comfy, the hosts were very nice and the sauna/shower's worked great. No complaints, I’ll hopefully be back next summer.

We had a fantastic time! We went in October and the weather was cold and rainy. However, everything was so comfy and cozy. The blankets they provide for the A-frame cabins were more than enough to keep us warm all night. The amenities are great: full on kitchen with all you need to make meals, the tea house was well stocked, the bathrooms did not smell and were fairly clean, the showers had hot water, the sauna was amazing. We really want to come back during the summer and enjoy the river and sleeping with the A-frame open. A wonderful and stellar experience.

This is an incredibly beautiful space to spend time in nature. The outdoor showers make it very easy to be in the river or sun all day and still feel clean. The mattress pads for the A-frames were a little stiff (even for someone who likes a firm mattress) so a camping pad would work well for extra comfort. Over all an incredible stay.

I couldn't have asked for a better place to spend a few nights exploring the Redwoods. It's very close to a few fantastic groves. It was quiet, and I felt very safe being a single female traveler. No hookups for electricity - at least not at campsite 4, but there was water and a bin to store food and trash for curious bears. For $35 a night, you can't beat it! There was also a beautiful nature trail around the area. The Smith River is nearby and worth checking out too.

Ahhh the majestic redwoods!! No where in this world compares to the magic found in these redwoods. Love driving the avenue of the giants and wander through the groves of these giant wonders!! Best place ever!

This is the last large state park before you get into Oregon..
It is off HWY 199. A must to stop at
It has camping hiking fishing swimming in the Smith River
And the Howland hill Rd. A must to drive though. Off this Rd.
Is the Stout Grove Loop also the Boy Scout tree trail and off Hwy.
199 is Simpson Reed Grove Loop
If you primitive camping ( get a access permit ) take little bald hill trail
Unbeleaveable hike both in and out
Out the back of the camp is a foot bridge. ( summer only ) is a hoot
Over the Smith
This park will accommodate R.Vs up 36 ft. No hookups
Camping is fun but family camping is the best
So bring your friends and family and camp at Jedediah Smith

Much preferred this Jedediah Smith campground over Gold Bluffs campground in Redwoods National Park. Nothing beats waking up in a majestic redwood grove! It is a busy campground, but most of the sites seemed to be spaced adequately apart with plenty of greenery to provide seclusion. Close access to the river and to Stout Grove nature walk.

Report from your Shirtless Host on Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park
If you headed south from Oregon or north to Oregon on Hwy 101 or east or west on Hwy 199. You have to stop and camp at this Park. This park has a few of the tallest Red Woods in the World. Also this is a 5 star park in it self.
The camp grounds are clean and it has Cabins, hiking trails, the Smith River running though it. Camp sites right on the river it most likely an adventure of a life time for you and your family! You are right in the middle of the redwoods so be ready for redwood dust. But that's the price you pay for such a beautiful place. Don't forget it is pay showers. Things to do is kayaking,wild life viewing and visitor center

Well worth the drive! Beautiful campground, every site feels secluded. Snag a river site if you can. Warm clean showers to boot - bring quarters. Check out Hiouchi Café for pancakes so large they spill over the side of the plate. Nearby Stout Grove is a must for ancient trees, take in the stillness.

We LOVED this campground! We camped at one of the walk-in sites and it was 100% worth it...the walk isn't even that far (as in, I could basically still see my car!). Giant Redwoods, beautiful ferns and foliage surround every campsite. Each site has its own character! The river is a short walk from the campground and absolutely beautiful. We were also impressed with the very nice bathrooms and showers! This was the most magical and relaxing campground in the Redwoods. We will definitely be back!

Incredible place. There are sites on the river and sites in the redwoods, honestly they are all fantastic. My husband and I actually stayed in one of the cabins here overnight on a whim - the cabins are equipped with fo-fireplace that pumps out heat (we stayed on Christmas night in December) it was warm and adorable. They have lights, a broom, a fan, 4 bunks, and a perfect shelf for all your cooking and supplies. The place was 100% spotless which I always appreciate. The cabins were accessable too! A fire pit and a grill were ready to use. Giant red woods towered over us. It was one of the best camp sites I've ever stayed at.

This is one of our favorite spots to camp in the Redwoods. My wife and I are back in Florida now and man, we do miss this spot. If your lucky enough to camp close to the river then do it. You can here the flow of the Smith all night. The sights have Bear proof food lockers, fire pits, clean showers and restrooms. A plus!!

Easily one of my favorite sites on a cross country trip from New York to Los Angeles. The river was very accessible, and a beautiful place to relax and swim. There are a decent amount of sites, but most are separated by massive Red Wood trees. The campground was only a short drive to Crescent City which is an awesome place to get a nice dinner. I can't wait to go back.

Easy drive-up campsites, quick (5 minute) walk to the river. Close to some amazing hiking spots, and surprisingly close to the Oregon border. Sites have picnic tables and bear lockers, and hot showers (with coins)/restrooms. Sites are relatively close to one another, and there are lots of families with kids.

The Smith River is one of the best places ever for swimming! It's cold, but also amazing clear. We hiked up the river on the trail the runs along side, and then floated back down to our campsite. Perfection.

Howland Hill Road is steep and has a good amount of potholes. While you don’t need a 4x4, you are limited to around 10 mph and need to look out for oncoming traffic.
