Swimming in North Fork Tule River, miles of hiking trails on ranch. River Ridge Ranch goes from 1,000' elev. to 3,000' elevation. Hike right on the ranch. We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee).

There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily driven to, and some remote. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public.
Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Thank you.
Enjoy: The Kitchen has a 3-burner cooktop, large fridge, microwave, full dishes and utensils and pots and pans with a big washing area in the back. Propane barbecue grill.. There's a River Barn to use as a remote space and Turtle Cove for swimming. Saturday morning Farmer's Market in downtown at 9 AM - Noon.
Ancestral land of the Foothill Yokuts tribe. Homesteaded in 1859, owned by the Negus family from 1909-2000. Barbara and I bought it to save it from subdivision and it's now protected by a Conservation Easement and acts as a community center for the arts, music, poetry, gatherings and outdoor education. We're both biologists, so, just ask us.

Okihi is approximately 15 minutes east of Downtown Bakersfield. 20 minutes away from the 99 hwy or 178 hwy. Whichever way you are traveling, we are a great stopover point.
Sites are spread around on the east side of the property facing the river for beautiful river views while you sip coffee from your site. There are a multitude of recreation opportunities to enjoy.
On site there is hiking, places to practice yoga or meditate, kayaking, paddle boarding. We also have a hammock veranda that is fully shaded and a great place to relax along the river. Miles of biking paths run on the road right by where we are situated and there is a nearby river rafting company if you want the white water experience.
Most of our campers are road tripping, getting away from LA, or are looking for a stopover on their way to/from Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, etc. We are in a desert climate – cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Portable heaters or fans with misting options are available for rent.

OrangeRay, home of Pixie's Place Animal Sanctuary and Hospice was founded in 2007, when I left L.A. for the forest by the river to create, and to expand my shamanic pursuits. Being that Three Rivers was home to the socialist Kaweah Colony in the 1800's; which helped in the founding of Sequoia National Park; the area is rich in history. Poet John Muir was enchanted and inspired by this area; Walt Disney fell under her spell as well when he envisioned a "Swiss Chalet" style resort which never came to fruition. The water wars of California began right here; gold rush...right here!
"Kaweah" is the name given by the Indians for the sound the Crow makes. Three Rivers literally sits on slabs of quartz crystal, making rock hunting superb! As an energy practitioner, the quartz heightens the healing process; as well as creating an energy vortex.
My property sits on an area that was once an Indian village, and then the school house for the children of the pioneers. There was a huge Hare Krishna Colony up here in the 60-70's.
As a photographer and filmmaker, the lighting up here is amazing! The night skies literally pulsate with their celestial canopy. A great spot to sky watch as well!
The property is not kid-friendly, and is not really here for children as much as it is offered for the inner child in adults. WE ARE 420 friendly which is in opposition to most "family" landscapes....so please note this is not personal but I prefer no children xo
Also, I prefer no pets, as it disrupts the balance here with the animal residents :)

The main home exits to the patio area where you will find multiple cooking options: a propane Weber grill, a Big Green Egg grill & smoker, a pizza oven, a and charcoal grill and to toast your hands & feet, a built-in outdoor fireplace.
Enjoy the night sky as you sit out under the stars with romantic string lights draped overhead and enjoy the fresh air while the fireplace or fire pit keep you warm.
The property has direct and exclusive access to the Kern River where you can swim, tube, sunbathe and fish. You are welcome to pitch a tent by the river; however, we ask that you please notify us as the lawn irrigation is fully sprinkler operated.
Just on the other side of the river you will find the California Living Museum (local zoo), Lake Ming, Kern River Golf Course, multiple riverfront picnic spots, Miracle Hot Springs up the mountain, hiking trails, nature walks. and more! Less than an hour up the road are wilderness camp sites and Lake Isabella. Continuing onward is the Sequoia National Forest where you can visit for the day knowing a comfortable & safe home will be welcoming your return.
*No parties or events allowed (Please, no music or loud noises allowed outside of the home). This is a extremely quiet neighbrohood and noise travels fast & easily. Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. The property is equiped with noise monitoring devices and occupancy count devices, we will be notified if noise levels exceed a certain level. Additionally we will be notified if occupancy count exceeds the number of guests booked on site.

*Pets are allowed on the property (fee's apply), however must be monitored at all times and not left alone. Pets must be kept close to owners at all times to avoid issues with wildlife, no pets on the furniture and beds. A fine will be applied if pets have been lounging on bedding and furniture.

Relax after a long day in our jacuzzi bathtub.
Our home is 1622 sq ft with plenty of space to make yourself comfortable. As you walk into our home you will see our open living room and oversized couch. You’ll then immediately see our kitchen and dining room. Our kitchen table seats 4 and we have 2 barstools in the kitchen for the bar area. Down the hallway you’ll see our first bedroom with a Queen size bed, the laundry room, and a hallway bathroom. Then straight ahead you’ll see our master bedroom with a bathroom a walk-in closet, full bathroom with a jacuzzi bathtub. Our home does have AC/Heating by mini split units that are all new & purchased & installed in June 2022 and are maintained monthly.
We also have 2 twin folding beds that can be set up in either bedroom or the living room. Purchased August 2022 for additional sleeping.
Ring cameras are located on the outside of the property. No cameras are inside.
Enjoy a nice evening on the front patio enjoying nature.
A propane barbeque is located on the front porch.
Absolutely no smoking on the property. Wildfires are common in & around the area & Three Rivers is a very high-risk area. Three Rivers has faced evacuation warnings in both 2020 & 2021 due to local raging wildfires.

BE ADVISED - Sequoia National Park has received significantly more snow and rain than normal this year (2023), which has resulted in some damage to some roadways within the park. MAKE SURE TO REVIEW THE SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK WEBSITE FOR CURRENT PARK CONDITIONS INFORMATION PRIOR TO BOOKING.

Guest access
Parking on the premises is located 70 yards from the cabin. A wooden railing leads from the street down a path to the house.
There are two access points into the cabin; one on level ground and the other via a wooden stairwell.
During winter, with an elevation of about 6,000ft, tire-chains may be required, depending on the snow.
Drive times to nearby points are as follows:
Alta Sierra Ski Resort: 8 min
Lake Isabella (fishing and watersports): 12 min
Kernville (rafting, antique shops, bars, museum and super market): 20 min
Market and gas stations: 15 min
Kern Valley Hospital: 30 min
Kern River Health Center: 10 min
Other things to note:
Alta Sierra is a fire hazard area so bonfires and open flames are not permitted. However, if you want to have a cookout, you'll have full use of the electric grill out on the open deck. In the evenings, or during cold days, you can enjoy the crackle of logs in the woodstove, and plenty of firewood is provided for your convenience.
There are wild animals that visit the property surroundings. Enjoy them from a safe distance and be ready to take plenty of photos from a safe vantage point.

3 nights at 3R Ranch Retreat
Staying at Samir's RV was super simple & easy! The beds were comfy, shower & kitchen were adequate, and the fireplace was a really cool addition. I especially appreciated being close to the Sequoia National Park entrance! There wasn't very stable wifi/service in the RV, but that was absolutely fine with me. I enjoyed being relatively off the grid for a couple days. Wendi’s place is magical! She is such a lovely and thoughtful host and wonderful person. The land is gorgeous and the river roaring! The animals throughout add to the magic. Her place is conveniently located right by Sequoia. The airstream is cozy and has everything you need.

Loved spending the night here with a couple friends! It’s a perfect, cozy spot to spend a night or two while exploring the national parks and local mountains. If you’re looking for something easier than camping or setting up your own campsite, but still has the feel of being outdoors, this is it! The heater works great, water gets hot (wifi does not reach the trailer however, and cell reception ranges from decent to absolutely nonexistent- but if you really need to use a phone, the wifi works great closer to the house). The coffee was such a perk in the morning! Thanks so much!

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed staying at the Cottonwood cabin! It was a nice cozy space and the scenery was sooo beautiful! I got to enjoy my breakfast on a big rock by the river and it was the perfect way to start my day. The restrooms were really nice and well kept! Overall it was a super comfortable lodging experience.

A perfect five-star stay! The combination of the incredibly gracious hosts, Joe and Kim, and the unbeatable proximity to Sequoia National Park makes this lodging a must-book. It was the perfect basecamp for exploring the park's famous trails and towering, ancient trees. We especially appreciated the easy access to nearby dining establishments and the fun, nostalgic candy shop—it added a unique and sweet touch to our entire trip!

Great getaway place, everything was perfect.
Wendy definitely makes this a special place. Pictures of what the place is are on point, ypu have everything you could thing off, loved the eggs, you have acess to the river super close to Sequoia if that is something you want to do. Def a place to be free and enjoy nature, would def love to come back! Wendy is such a great host.

Absolutely awesome and unique place to stay. Wendi is genuinely such a wonderful host. Her animals are all absolutely lovely to have around. Loved staying in the little vintage trailer and really enjoyed getting to sit under the stars next to a little fire every night. Her spot is right on the river and I def recommend taking a dip and laying in the hammock as the sun rises. Location is great if you are planning on going into Sequoia National Park for some adventures too!

We had a family trip planned to Sequoia NP and had a great stay with an infant and a toddler, 2 grandparents, and 4 adults. The house is spacious, well-appointed, conveniently located, and very clean. The kitchen has a great selection of appliances and cookware so you can easily make meals at home, and we enjoyed the pool (though a bit chilly this time of year!) and hot tub. Juneffer is a really responsive and accommodating host who clearly cares about her guests, and the property is a great reflection of it, with lots of attention to detail and small unexpected touches (snacks, lots of games and books for kids). Highly recommend if you want to be in the area!

This place is special! It is glamping at its finest. The setting by the river is beautiful, the outdoor kitchen makes cooking fun and easy and the yurts v comfortable. There is so much to do on this property from exploring the river and swimming holes to reading and napping in one of the many nooks by the river. Just spectacular. Kenneth has really made this a retreat.

Weekend Trip to OrangeRay~Three Rivers
Cannot recommend this Hipcamp enough! The property is perfect for a weekend getaway, and Wendi is an incredible host and truly a gem of a human, as other reviewers have also commented.
We stayed in the teepee next to the reading nook and had everything we needed: a fan, light, and outlet inside the tent; dishes and cutlery and a camping stove (though we brought our own); a cooking area, an eating area, and two pool chairs to lay out. The reading nook provided a chill space to watch a movie on our iPad at night, and a quiet place for reading and meditation during the day. Outside, the property had so much to offer: plenty of animals all with unique personalities, river access (water was flowing in late September), and serene nature all around. The grocery store is less than a 5 minute drive away.
Wendi deserves her own shoutout apart from the property and sleeping/playing amenities. She is an amazing host and an absolute joy to chat with. Knowing it was my boyfriend’s birthday, she went out of her way to have a cupcake and candle prepared for us in the nook! But it didn’t stop there — she also washed our dishes for us and prepared our firewood each night. She made our trip a relaxing getaway. There’s so much I could say in this review, but I’ll leave it at that and say: you have to visit Pixie’s Place for yourself if you want to experience the magic! We came as strangers and left with a new friend, and we will be back because our experience was that unique. Love you, Wendi!

Would stay again. We arrived late at night and were plenty of spots open. There was a self pay station that was easy to use and you can pay nightly for your spot. There is a list of the reservations on the board next to it so you don’t pay for a spot someone has reserved. The bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily. Showers were also free and quick to warm up.
The only negative note is coming in at night was a little spooky. You go through the historic town on the way to the campground and there’s no towns near by. The train often stops on the tracks going in and out but thankfully there is a way around.

This is a convenient place to camp when travelling through the area since there isn't many other options around. Don't forget your mosquito repellent and watch out for bunnies and field mice when driving by night! Amenities are great, showers are free and clean.

It’s in the Central Valley, so temperatures can definitely rise in the summer -- make sure to bring sufficient water and sunblock.
