Enjoy a stay at our rustic log cabins nestled 1/2 mile back from our residence in the peaceful woods of our family's 160-acre 5th generation farm. Summertime here is filled with long days of daylight to participate in various activities, or just hang out in the hammock. The warm evenings bring out fire flies, owls hooting, and stargazing while sitting around the campfire. The fall is a very special time of year here with the maples and oaks changing colors. There are two log cabins, one of which doubles as a place to cook maple syrup in the spring, a pavilion, and an odor-free "outhouse". We will only rent to one group at a time, you'll just have to choose which cabin site(s) you want. The group limit is 9 people.
Hike the trails meandering through our woods, sit around the large campfire, take a relaxing nap in the hammock, watch sunset down one of the trails, or the many activities of hiking and mountain/fat tire biking groomed trails at nearby Levis/Trow Mound, fishing, kayaking, horse trail rides, and The Highground Veterans Memorial Park is a mile up the road. The pavilion has a large log picnic table, Blackstone griddle, a charcoal grill, and refrigerator/freezer. The pavilion and Sugar Shack cabin have solar power. The Sugar Shack has a small gas stove and oven. The Cozy Cabin does not have solar power yet. All rentals include use of the pavilion and "outhouse". New in 2026 - outdoor shower with heated water.
There is no WiFi but there is good cell phone service. Bedding is furnished for cabin stays. Wood is furnished. Charcoal is furnished.
We welcome your furry friends, but no more than 2 dogs. We politely request no children under 7 in cabins, and then all children over 7 supervised at all times while in cabins.
2 night minimum; 3 night minimum on holiday weekends such as Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend, and 4th of July if it lands on a Friday or Monday.
UPDATE: The gravel road down to the cabins is completed and smooth.
Neillsville is located just 2 hours from St. Paul, MN; 2 1/2 hours from Madison; 2 1/2 hours from Green Bay.

While most of the State was covered and scraped by glaciers of the last Ice Age, this small section of the State was not. Hence, its geology remained intact. We loved staying at the Spring Cabin at Echo Valley Farm. The space was so welcoming and everyone there was so helpful and kind. We will definitely be coming back to explore nearby trails and parks, though I can say sitting by the fire on New Years was just as enjoyable. This place is really an all-season occasion with a beautiful, like-minded community.

We had a great time in the Straw Clay Cabin! It was clean, cozy and comfortable. We really enjoyed this unique cabin, including the woodland animals that are built in to the walls, and also having some information available in the cabin about how it was constructed. We also enjoyed hiking around property and seeing the chickens and sheep wandering around! Overall a great stay, we'd be happy to come back.

Echo Valley Farm is absolutely beautiful, and Maggie's Cabin was just right for what we were looking for! Dena was wonderful - kind and helpful and willing to accommodate a scheduling mistake on my part. The cabin itself was cozy and warm, and the farm was beautiful - rolling hills, grazing sheep, and forests in the distance. Echo Valley Farm is just right for a trip to get away from the demands of daily life and slow down a bit!

My husband and I stayed in Maggie’s place, a cosy cabin with a screen porch. The setting was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed walking up the hill for the view and watching the chickens, cats and sheep.
There are no cooking accommodations, you can bring a camp stove for the picnic table.

We loved our stay at Echo Valley Farm. From the Milky Way right above Maggie's to the wondrous valley floor (OMG, the [nearby] trout streams! could the earth be more beautiful?? but I digress.). The sky is dark enough that even in full or half moonlight the stars are brilliant on clear nights (evenings and early mornings). Also, magical fog. Also, watching chickens and sheep every morning (roosters too :-) from front porch or picnic table. The beautiful, healthy ash tree in the front yard that can be seen from inside the cabin will soon be all gold. The wood burning stove kept the cabin more than cozy when it was near freezing. The beds were comfortable, as were the abundant linens. Wood for indoor heat is provided (firepit wood for sale), a small coffee pot, electric tea kettle, a selection of teas and some coffee. Note, there is not a swing at Maggie's any longer, which I saw in one of the pictures. That was the single disappointment, I had a whole fantasy in my head about sitting on the swing with the chickens & sheep in the yard. It was Echo Valley's 1st lesson for me, a very mild lesson in attachment. Emphasis on mild. So instead, I sat on the screened porch, sometimes while petting one of the cats & delighted in watching them from there. The scones were [chef's kiss]. Echo Valley Farm was a great home base from which to launch numerous and varied adventures to the wonderlands all about the region, and even better to return to. And I will return.

5 Families, 10 adults and 11 children had a wonderful stay at these cabins despite the oppressive weather. The creek was a wonderful place to spend the day, and we paid for the kitchen building which was our place to congregate in the evenings out when the weather wasn’t cooperating. The beds were serviceable, and everyone that needed one had a fan at night to keep cool. Falling asleep to the sounds of the rivers rapids at night was wonderful.
The Patrick was great and very attentive. Our group was already talking about planning next year by the time we left.

Weekend Trip to Echo Valley Farm
My partner and I booked the rustic orchard cabin for two nights for her birthday. Lauren and Dena were gracious hosts, with Dena showing us to our cabin and telling us about the book she'd written (which we both read and enjoyed--thank you, Dena!). Before leaving our first morning to kayak on the Kickapoo, I stopped in to Lauren's bakery and bought a lemon blueberry scone and a cinnamon roll, both fresh from the oven. They were incredible. I've been to some good bakeries, but Lauren's scone and cinnamon roll were the best I think I've ever had. The scone was moist with balanced flavors and just the right touch of sweetness. The cinnamon roll had just the right amount of icing, firmness to the outer crust, and soft, buttery layers within.
The many trails through the orchard and fields were quiet and peaceful to walk in the evening (with many deer sightings), and the morning visit from the sheep left me giddy.
I would happily stay here again. What a magical retreat for my partner's birthday. We both loved it here.

We absolutely loved our stay!! It was everything we wanted and more. We had a group of 15 and had so much room to spare. Patrick was incredibly accommodating and attentive throughout our stay. Tubes were available to float in the creek as an added bonus! We hope to visit again in the future!

You'll need to buy a vehicle pass for your car in addition to the camping fee. I think it's $8 for WI resident and $11/day out of state. They have firewood for sale at the campground for $3/bundle. Clean bathroom, no showers, vault toilet only. It's very quiet and a great campground. We stayed at site #24 and it was very spacious and right on the river.
