This part of the Stillaguamish valley and the adjacent Mountain Loop Highway is known for a great selection of hiking trails, at all skill levels. It is perfect hub for all of your outdoor interests. The trailhead for the summit of Whitehorse Mountain is just a mile away, as is
Old Mine Road trail (45 minute hike ending in 2 waterfalls).
A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle.
Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas.
Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River.
In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

My husband & I put a lot of blood sweat & tears into making this a place our kids would enjoy during our weekend vacations to Leavenworth. We love hiking & there are a ton of nearby hikes. Despite it being located on the other side of the train tracks, we always seem to have a good time. We hope you enjoy it too!

Outdoor enthusiast will enjoy this glamp spot! Utilize the dry cabin equipped with two twin size beds, a pullout couch bed, a dining table with 4 chairs & extra seating. With plenty of space outdoors, feel free to pitch a tent or bring your RV for friends! It is a dry cabin meaning there is no running water. We have it powered with a solar panel which should give enough electricity to charge phones & lights as needed. There is also an outhouse with a compost bucket if you'd like to use that. The downside to this lovely parcel is it's on the opposite side of the train tracks, so there will be occasional noise. Maybe it adds to the uniqueness? Just keep that in mind as once in a blue moon, the train does stop so you may be stuck for a few minutes. Oh & those power lines sometimes make a crackling noise. Sometimes we notice it & other times we don't. Now that we got that out of the way, the pros are it's a great place to explore. There are a ton of nearby hikes. This spot is in between Stevens Pass & the famous Alps candy store, with each being about 15 mins away. There is a gas station/convenient store, a few diners, and a rest stop within 5 minutes. Historical Leavenworth is about 20 mins.
There is a spot for campfires, a small 2 burner propane stove & an ice chest for your convenience, but you will need to bring the propane.

Thirsty Creek Farm has been a 10 year project to create unique places to camp and stay with full appreciation of the beautiful mountain setting. We are on a five acre wooded parcel at the top of the Stillaguamish River Valley (near Darrington). The North Cascades National Park is just 40 miles away, but there are great places to hike, rivers and waterfalls to see so much closer (some within walking distance). It is about a 15 minute walk to a good swimming hole in the "Stilly" river.
Originally built for us, the tiny cabin is now available for rent. We lived in this Cabin for 5 months while we were building a house on the property.
The bed is a queen size memory foam mattress, with seasonally appropriate bedding.
We provide a mini fridge inside for your perishables. Bring a cooler if you need more space.
We have 2 propane cooktops, one outside and one in the pantry. There are electric lights and enough power to charge your electronic devices.
There is an outdoor kitchen for washing up and a rainwater outdoor faucet.
The toilet is a flushable camp toilet.
The Tiny Cabin is our premier off-grid accommodation. With full views of Whitehorse mountain and a limited amount of solar electric power the small cabin is the perfect cozy getaway for 2. For families we can add a cot or 2 for a total occupancy of 4 (but very tight). Extra guests are $10/night per guest.
If you want to make it a group, there's plenty of space to put a tent adjacent to the Cabin, and even a space to park a small camper/Van. Additional parties are $40/night. Maximum People on site is 6.
Winter campers:
In Winter we do not have water (due to freezing), but we supply you with 5 gallons of potable water in a jug. For heat, we are insulated and we can provide a small electric heater to keep the chill off. The woodstove is more than adequate to keep the place warm and we do have wood on hand.
Summer Campers:
Once we turn the water on in spring the cabin has heated rainwater for showers and for washing dishes. We also have a cold water rain shower outside.

Site 1: 'The Camper's Site'
The ‘RV/Camper Van and Tent Site’ is located to the left as you pull into the property. Park, situate and make yourselves at home near your above ground fire pit and picnic table overlooking that gorgeous river. Set up your scene and enjoy.
Site 2: 'The Little Rustic Red Cabin'
The ‘Little Rustic Red Cabin’ site offers an in-ground heart shaped fire pit as well as a picnic table for outdoor dining. Inside the 358 sq ft cabin is a wood stove that heats the place up nicely. The cabin sleeps 4, offering one Queen size bed and one queen futon in the living room that faces a smart t.v. utilizing Starlink Internet. The kitchen offers all of your kitchen needs(minus running water from the faucet).
Also, in the cabin you’ll find a smart speaker to hook up to, two African style djembe drums, a ukulele and an Australian didgeridoo. Let your musical side come on out!
Note:
There is no running water on site or septic system. Bring your own drinking water or filter from the river. Water is available in town as well. A porta potty is centered between the camping site and the cabin site.
Generously portioned bundles of firewood including kindling are for purchase located under the cute A-frame structure near outhouse.
Bring your food, water, camp chairs, bug spray, swimsuits, water toys and all your essentials for having a lovely camping and outdoor experience in one of the most beautiful areas of Washington State.
Enjoy the lovely walking trails on the back 3 acres of the property. Please take your trash and recycle and clean up after your doggies. Secure your food items so as to not attract wildlife or bears. Be safe in the river. Have fun!

We had an amazing stay at Marvin’s property and I truly cannot recommend it enough. Marvin was incredibly kind, generous, and welcoming from start to finish. The property itself was absolutely beautiful and offered everything we needed and more. There was plenty of space for our group of six, our dog, and our RV, and the access to the river was fantastic.
Before arriving, we misunderstood part of the listing and didn’t realize the property owner could sometimes be on-site. That was completely our mistake, not Marvin’s fault in any way. When we arrived and realized the misunderstanding, we planned to pack up and leave with no hard feelings at all. However, Marvin went far above and beyond anything we would have expected — he graciously offered to stay at his other home so we could feel completely comfortable during our stay. That level of kindness and generosity is so rare, and we were incredibly grateful.
Because of his hospitality, we stayed and ended up having the most wonderful time. Marvin truly cares about his guests and goes out of his way to make sure everyone has a great experience. The property is peaceful, beautiful, dog-friendly, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. I would absolutely recommend this spot to any of my friends and would happily stay here again.

This has become the go to spot for me and my family when we want to get away, relax, and enjoy a beautiful campsite in peace. Our two cats are able to safely roam around and absolutely love hunting for mice and other little critters while we’re there.
Dave has always been a great host and is quick to help with anything that comes up during our stay. One of our favorite parts is walking the many hiking trails throughout the wilderness of Valhalla Tree Farm. Every time we come back, it feels like the property has grown even more, with new paths and improvements continuing to take shape.
Highly recommend! We sure will be going year after year.

Weekend Trip to Index Riverside Camp
The Little Red Cabin was exactly the kind of getaway we were hoping for. Yes rustic, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it so special. Sitting around the fire pit, hearing the river nearby, cooking outside, and unplugging for a couple days felt like a real reset.
The setting is beautiful. Index already feels tucked away in the mountains, but this cabin sits right near the river where you can stand on the bank and look directly down at the water rushing by. The smooth river rocks, dense forest, mountain views, and nearby trails make it feel peaceful and far removed from everyday life.
Everything was thoughtfully set up. Plenty of firewood, a nice patio and picnic area, grill, coffee for the coffee maker, pots, pans, silverware, and other basics that made the stay easy and comfortable while still keeping the cabin’s rustic charm. Nice bed too!
One of my favorite parts was watching my girls explore — running down to the river, climbing around the rocks, walking the forest trails, and sitting around the fire at night under the lights. It felt safe, simple, and very connected to nature.
Sure, there are fancier places to stay. But for the experience, atmosphere, and setting, this place was a real treat. By the way, their campsite looked really nice as well — same great location. Wonderful host to communicate with – – you can’t go wrong.

Weekend Trip to Valhalla Tree Farm
This cabin was cozy and relaxing. It is surrounded by trees with a nice view of s cool rock cliff. You can hear the creek burbling a few dozen feet away. The location felt very secure and calm. Dave was a very responsive host, provided clear and helpful instructions, and my trip went smoothly. I am excited to return in the future.

Weekend Trip to Valhalla Tree Farm
We had a wonderful weekend at the A-Frame on Huckleberry Hill! This cabin is super cute, exactly like the photos/description. The view is beautiful, and it was very private, we didn't see anyone else while we were there (you can just barely occasionally hear the campers at the next site over, but they weren't the least bit disruptive). It was very peaceful, falling asleep to the sound of the frogs and crickets, and occasional owl call!
Few notes to future campers: the cookware is mostly mess kit-type pots and pans with a cast iron pan or two, so bring your own if you if there's something specific you're expecting to cook with; we had excellent cell service; the town of Granite Falls is only a 12-15 drive from the campsite; we were in a Nissan Juke with AWD and had no issues with the driveway, but I wouldn't want to try it in a sportscar; there are not any places to hang a hammock at the site, we were glad to have brought our portable hammock stand.

As always the trip was so peaceful, the cabin is great. We enjoyed watching the Falcons and Hawks. The outdoor shower gets nice and hot and has an excellent view. The wood stove kept us nice an toasty at night.

We stayed at the Big Bear cabin in late March. 2 adults and 2 dogs. It was a last minute trip, so we just stayed one night after a hike in the area. It was fun exploring the property and the cabin was comfy, cozy and clean, with is own toilet and shower. We had a campfire in the fire pit, and they have bundles of wood for sale on the property. Cabin has a little kitchenette with a small fridge/freezer and a 2 burner gas stove top. We would have stayed another night if the weather was better. We do hope to come back soon!!

The reviews don't lie: this place is a gem and DeAnn is a sweetheart! We only stayed for one night, but it was exactly what we needed. Even on a cloudy day, we could bask in Whitehorse Mt and Three Finger Mt as the sun set. The house is cozy, well-stocked, and with a great location. Hope to return someday!

We had campsite 2 which provided good access to the river, but was not very private and a little too close to bumping river road. Overall a great campsite compared to others in the area, quiet at night, water available, privy in decent condition, but I’d try for site 6 or 7 in the future.

Seems abandoned. There’s a burned car by the creek with lots of trash. I think people have been trying to live down there. I would avoid the area. Doesn’t feel safe anymore

The campground was super quiet so that was nice. We started in site 12 - warning: do not book site 12 - the smelliest outhouses you have ever been in are essentially part of site 12. We stayed in site 12 1 night and moved across the street to site 13... which is WAY better. Right along the river and a big site. Lots of yellow jackets flying around while warm sun is out. Sites 9 and 11 look nice, too. Both are along the River.

I camped here this summer and for one night only --- for good reason! IT'S WAY TOO NOISY! Not because of people, but because it's only about 1/10 of a mile to 207 which has TONS OF TRAFFIC that you can hear LOUD and Clear from campground. I do NOT go camping to listen to highway traffic. that is o way to enjoy nature. I will never go here again.

I've camped here twice, mid-week trips in Aug 2018 (a handful of campsites occupied out of the 10 available and 2019 (only a trailer at one end and a family with a couple tents near the middle). Because you can't make reservations, it seems to dissuade people from coming. There is some traffic noise from Salmon La Sac Rd but it's not bad at all on weekdays, and there are hardly any cars on the road after dark.
Big warning - I had a bear in my site in 2019. I stupidly had left my cooler out. The bear ran as soon as he saw my flashlight shining from the tent doorway, but he decimated my food. So don't be me - put anything related to food or personal hygiene into your vehicle or trailer at night.

My niece and I spent last week at this lovely campsite. We then hiked several miles into the backcountry toward Mt Maude/Ice lakes, camping, and enjoying our beautiful surroundings. An amazing aftermath of the entiat fires aparent, although evidence of regrowth in abundance. Made our hearts feel good to encounter over 20 dear on our trip. We were sad to leave, as we were all alone in one of the most beautiful, majestic places in America. Please take the time to explore this gorgous part of Washington State. You're going to be impressed!

Chill and very well maintained campground outside Lake Wenatchee. Very easy access to the creek and you can walk to the Lake if you want. Booking online is a little tricky because for some reason they don’t show you the map of the campground when choosing a site. A lot of the sites are close to the road which was probably my biggest gripe, so the best sites are definitely the ones along the creek. Bathrooms were standard flush, but bring your own soap. Water spigots located throughout. Firewood was for sale at the camp host for $7/bundle (cash only). Be aware of mosquitos in the summer and don’t forget the bug spray, I got bit within 30 seconds of getting out of the car.

The rest of the Methow Valley was hot and choked with dust and people, but up at Loup Loup it was cool, quiet, and almost no people. Sites are spacious with lots of privacy, and sheltered by the trees so very little wind. Great place to camp and cool down! Cons are limited water.

Excellent campground that isn’t too far off the beaten path but far enough out to be infrequently visited. All the sites include picnic tables and nice fire pits. There is 1 vault toilet onsite as well. The campground is well maintained and I didn’t see a single piece of trash anywhere. Place was perfect with 1 single exception. The mosquitoes are absolutely horrible. Was incredibly difficult to escape them. Campfire, bug spray, etc. It barely made a difference. Either way I would highly recommend and I will surely be back, albeit with more mosquito defense of some kind...

Stayed here in July of 2017 and loved it. No water or electricity but plenty of RV and tent sites. Sites are booked first come first served but we had no problem getting three all together on Thursday evening. There are outhouses available on site and dumpsters for garbage. Many forest service roads in the area to explore and several hiking trails. Mostly quiet with the river running past. I would definitely return.

Indoor plumbing with hot water, which is rare in USFS rental cabins. However, pretty basic for the price ($80). Propane cooking stove was out of order, so had to cook outside on Coleman stove. Also stinky propane smell, which could be remedied by opening large and well-screened windows. Lovely little spot to veg by the creek. Trails in area open to ORV use, so dusty and rocky. Oddest of all, there's a parking lot next door to the cabin with a campground host RV. I for one like to rent USFS cabins in part for the solitude!

If the road conditions had been better I would rate a 5. Chelan county ranger district lists this as a "drive-in campsite" with no other details. DO NOT DRIVE TO THIS CAMPSITE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN OFFROADING VEHICLE. about 30 miles of very poorly kept gravel road on the Cliffside the entire time, so no way to turn around. in the last 3 miles $700 worth of damage was done to our vehicle from brush alone. Hope this helps someone else avoid the tricky situation we ended up in

My family just returned from our first camping trip with our four kids; ages 7, 6 & 2 year old twins. We LOVED Ida creek. The first come first serve campsites worked out well for us with a Wednesday arrival following the 4th of July. We snagged a large open site right next to the river. The grounds were beautiful and I loved how quiet and peaceful it was being truly in the wild. The vault toilet was a bit gross- but hey- it's camping. I appreciated the potable water and the garbage onsite. The fires WERE allowed in the fire pits so that made for warm mornings and fun smores filled evenings. We spent an afternoon hanging out by a slower spot in the river. The water was freezing but refreshing. The mountains were SO stunning- so scenic!

It's much cooler here so pack accordingly and beware of the mosquitos. We found a very secluded campground and it was really lovely though any of the sites would have been fine since there were no other campers. The little creek is super charming. The road up to the top were the camping site was is long and very rough so make sure to drive a vehicle that can handle that.
