This part of the Stillaguamish valley and the adjacent Mountain Loop Highway is known for a great selection of hiking trails, at all skill levels. It is perfect hub for all of your outdoor interests. The trailhead for the summit of Whitehorse Mountain is just a mile away, as is
Old Mine Road trail (45 minute hike ending in 2 waterfalls).
A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle.
Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas.
Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River.
In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

Outdoor enthusiast will enjoy this glamp spot! Utilize the dry cabin equipped with two twin size beds, a pullout couch bed, a dining table with 4 chairs & extra seating. With plenty of space outdoors, feel free to pitch a tent or bring your RV for friends! It is a dry cabin meaning there is no running water. We have it powered with a solar panel which should give enough electricity to charge phones & lights as needed. There is also an outhouse with a compost bucket if you'd like to use that. The downside to this lovely parcel is it's on the opposite side of the train tracks, so there will be occasional noise. Maybe it adds to the uniqueness? Just keep that in mind as once in a blue moon, the train does stop so you may be stuck for a few minutes. Oh & those power lines sometimes make a crackling noise. Sometimes we notice it & other times we don't. Now that we got that out of the way, the pros are it's a great place to explore. There are a ton of nearby hikes. This spot is in between Stevens Pass & the famous Alps candy store, with each being about 15 mins away. There is a gas station/convenient store, a few diners, and a rest stop within 5 minutes. Historical Leavenworth is about 20 mins.
There is a spot for campfires, a small 2 burner propane stove & an ice chest for your convenience, but you will need to bring the propane.

Thirsty Creek Farm has been a 10 year project to create unique places to camp and stay with full appreciation of the beautiful mountain setting. We are on a five acre wooded parcel at the top of the Stillaguamish River Valley (near Darrington). The North Cascades National Park is just 40 miles away, but there are great places to hike, rivers and waterfalls to see so much closer (some within walking distance). It is about a 15 minute walk to a good swimming hole in the "Stilly" river.
Originally built for us, the tiny cabin is now available for rent. We lived in this Cabin for 5 months while we were building a house on the property.
The bed is a queen size memory foam mattress, with seasonally appropriate bedding.
We provide a mini fridge inside for your perishables. Bring a cooler if you need more space.
We have 2 propane cooktops, one outside and one in the pantry. There are electric lights and enough power to charge your electronic devices.
There is an outdoor kitchen for washing up and a rainwater outdoor faucet.
The toilet is a flushable camp toilet.
The Tiny Cabin is our premier off-grid accommodation. With full views of Whitehorse mountain and a limited amount of solar electric power the small cabin is the perfect cozy getaway for 2. For families we can add a cot or 2 for a total occupancy of 4 (but very tight). Extra guests are $10/night per guest.
If you want to make it a group, there's plenty of space to put a tent adjacent to the Cabin, and even a space to park a small camper/Van. Additional parties are $40/night. Maximum People on site is 6.
Winter campers:
In Winter we do not have water (due to freezing), but we supply you with 5 gallons of potable water in a jug. For heat, we are insulated and we can provide a small electric heater to keep the chill off. The woodstove is more than adequate to keep the place warm and we do have wood on hand.
Summer Campers:
Once we turn the water on in spring the cabin has heated rainwater for showers and for washing dishes. We also have a cold water rain shower outside.

* RV's: Contact me if you need portable or non portable water which may or not be available depending on water supplies.
Feel free to use anything in the yard, porch deck, Chairs and Toilet in Bunk House... including games and things at the rear of the 5th wheel.
Fire Ban is usually on during the Summer, but small camp cooking fires are still allowed. DO NOT leave fire unattended.

Absolutely an amazing time away from the real world. From walking around on the trails to sitting next to the fire pit, it was great to get away with my dogs. They had a lovely time out, and it was very peaceful and quiet. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway, and we plan on staying again in the future!

Good communication and instructions from host. Just make sure to bring a lot of wood if you’re staying in the winter and for more than one night. The wood burning stove is the only heat source so if you plan to relax at the cabin you’ll need quite a bit!

A wonderful stay. The site is gorgeous. There's a really nice mountain scenery that can be enjoyed directly from the comfort of the living room. There's a wood stove that creates a great atmosphere and helps keeps the cabin very warm. As a bonus, theres plenty of wood to chop outside if you'd like to try that. (There's also already chopped wood so it's not necessary to do it). De Ann was a wonderful host and stopped by to say hi. She was very accommodating to our schedule too.

What a fantastic spot. Valhalla Tree Farm is the perfect place to unplug and get cozy. The off-grid cabin was simple and comfortable, and the propane heater kept us toasty the whole time. Even with the water shut off for the season, everything was easy to manage, and the covered fire pit meant we could still enjoy a fire while it sprinkled most of the trip. Shannon was super helpful and responsive, and we loved being able to wander the property and let the dog run around off-leash. The backdrop of the escarpment is beautiful and makes the place feel extra special.
Honestly, I’m almost hesitant to hype it up too much because I do not want to fight for dates next time. We’ll be back!

Weekend Trip to Camp Keyser Forest Camp
Second time staying here, and it’s one of my favorite local get aways. You feel so secluded, but it’s only 90ish minutes from Seattle.
Bed is ridiculously comfy, and it’s a great way to reset off grid. Lots of great hikes nearby, too.
It’s definitely cosy, so recommend preparing food in advance so you can easily cook without tripping over each other.
You’re close to a highway so you’ll hear car noise, but it doesn’t bother us at all. The lane is quiet and a great walk with the dog in the am to see the cows

The cabin at Valhalla once again proved to be a wonderful autumn destination to relax amongst the trees, listen to the babbling stream, soak in the sun atop Look Out Rock and cook up some good food around the campfire. I can't say enough good things about this place, it is really an oasis of calm.

Weekend Trip to Valhalla Tree Farm
The A-Frame is spectacular. The host is kind, welcoming, accommodating, and a joy to work with. I've now visited this and the same owners' other cabin 3-4 times and will continue to! Comparing the 2 below (I love them both - just depends on what you're looking for)
Similarities:
--Both have: -super- fire pit areas, great views (one woods, one more open), privacy, keypad lock on door, access to trails, gas-powered indoor burner for cooking, outdoor shower with hot water (in season), ~4" foam mattresses on all beds, parking for at least 2 vehicles, picnic table, outdoor chairs and table on a deck.
Differences:
--The A-frame has side-by-side sleeping arrangements, wider than a king bed, so great for singles AND great for couples. The cabin has bunk beds.
--The A-frame has some pots, pans, and dishes to help on a rainy day. Last I was there, the other cabin didn't have dishes/cookware.
--Running sink water at each (in season), indoors at A-frame and outdoors at cabin.
--The cabin has gas-powered heat and the A-frame has a wood stove.
--The A-frame has a composting toilet, cabin has an outhouse.
--The tables at each are different orientation - A-frame's can be folded up/down but you sit side-by-side. Cabin is 2 benches and you face each other.
Seriously, though, you can't go wrong with either!

I was at the Mountain retreat with my daughter and 12-year-old grandson. We were all awed by the home, the views, and the sense of beauty. DeAnn made sure we were settled in and let us know she was available quickly if we needed her help.
This home provided just what we needed. We had space for our alone times, great cooking and eating together times, and space to hang out together.

2 nights at Valhalla Tree Farm
My wife, dog, and I stayed at the A frame cabin and had a wonderful time! We loved all the views from sunrise to sunset and exploring the forest. We kept super cozy with the amazing wood stove and firepit outside for extra fun.
Valhalla tree farms with all the sites, trails, ponds, and forest is absolutely stunning, charming, and magical. We will definitely be back to further explore and connect with all the nature around!

Such a beautiful cabin, we stayed there with our in laws in the fall and it was so cozy. The view is stunning and so much space for our dogs to run around and play! Loved the wood burning stove, kept the place so toasty and with the rain it was such a vibe. Would absolutely be back! The host was so kind and responsive as well- she lended us whatever we needed and helped us get the fire going in the cabin.

We had campsite 2 which provided good access to the river, but was not very private and a little too close to bumping river road. Overall a great campsite compared to others in the area, quiet at night, water available, privy in decent condition, but I’d try for site 6 or 7 in the future.

Seems abandoned. There’s a burned car by the creek with lots of trash. I think people have been trying to live down there. I would avoid the area. Doesn’t feel safe anymore

The campground was super quiet so that was nice. We started in site 12 - warning: do not book site 12 - the smelliest outhouses you have ever been in are essentially part of site 12. We stayed in site 12 1 night and moved across the street to site 13... which is WAY better. Right along the river and a big site. Lots of yellow jackets flying around while warm sun is out. Sites 9 and 11 look nice, too. Both are along the River.

I camped here this summer and for one night only --- for good reason! IT'S WAY TOO NOISY! Not because of people, but because it's only about 1/10 of a mile to 207 which has TONS OF TRAFFIC that you can hear LOUD and Clear from campground. I do NOT go camping to listen to highway traffic. that is o way to enjoy nature. I will never go here again.

I've camped here twice, mid-week trips in Aug 2018 (a handful of campsites occupied out of the 10 available and 2019 (only a trailer at one end and a family with a couple tents near the middle). Because you can't make reservations, it seems to dissuade people from coming. There is some traffic noise from Salmon La Sac Rd but it's not bad at all on weekdays, and there are hardly any cars on the road after dark.
Big warning - I had a bear in my site in 2019. I stupidly had left my cooler out. The bear ran as soon as he saw my flashlight shining from the tent doorway, but he decimated my food. So don't be me - put anything related to food or personal hygiene into your vehicle or trailer at night.

My niece and I spent last week at this lovely campsite. We then hiked several miles into the backcountry toward Mt Maude/Ice lakes, camping, and enjoying our beautiful surroundings. An amazing aftermath of the entiat fires aparent, although evidence of regrowth in abundance. Made our hearts feel good to encounter over 20 dear on our trip. We were sad to leave, as we were all alone in one of the most beautiful, majestic places in America. Please take the time to explore this gorgous part of Washington State. You're going to be impressed!

Chill and very well maintained campground outside Lake Wenatchee. Very easy access to the creek and you can walk to the Lake if you want. Booking online is a little tricky because for some reason they don’t show you the map of the campground when choosing a site. A lot of the sites are close to the road which was probably my biggest gripe, so the best sites are definitely the ones along the creek. Bathrooms were standard flush, but bring your own soap. Water spigots located throughout. Firewood was for sale at the camp host for $7/bundle (cash only). Be aware of mosquitos in the summer and don’t forget the bug spray, I got bit within 30 seconds of getting out of the car.

The rest of the Methow Valley was hot and choked with dust and people, but up at Loup Loup it was cool, quiet, and almost no people. Sites are spacious with lots of privacy, and sheltered by the trees so very little wind. Great place to camp and cool down! Cons are limited water.

Excellent campground that isn’t too far off the beaten path but far enough out to be infrequently visited. All the sites include picnic tables and nice fire pits. There is 1 vault toilet onsite as well. The campground is well maintained and I didn’t see a single piece of trash anywhere. Place was perfect with 1 single exception. The mosquitoes are absolutely horrible. Was incredibly difficult to escape them. Campfire, bug spray, etc. It barely made a difference. Either way I would highly recommend and I will surely be back, albeit with more mosquito defense of some kind...

Stayed here in July of 2017 and loved it. No water or electricity but plenty of RV and tent sites. Sites are booked first come first served but we had no problem getting three all together on Thursday evening. There are outhouses available on site and dumpsters for garbage. Many forest service roads in the area to explore and several hiking trails. Mostly quiet with the river running past. I would definitely return.

Indoor plumbing with hot water, which is rare in USFS rental cabins. However, pretty basic for the price ($80). Propane cooking stove was out of order, so had to cook outside on Coleman stove. Also stinky propane smell, which could be remedied by opening large and well-screened windows. Lovely little spot to veg by the creek. Trails in area open to ORV use, so dusty and rocky. Oddest of all, there's a parking lot next door to the cabin with a campground host RV. I for one like to rent USFS cabins in part for the solitude!

If the road conditions had been better I would rate a 5. Chelan county ranger district lists this as a "drive-in campsite" with no other details. DO NOT DRIVE TO THIS CAMPSITE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN OFFROADING VEHICLE. about 30 miles of very poorly kept gravel road on the Cliffside the entire time, so no way to turn around. in the last 3 miles $700 worth of damage was done to our vehicle from brush alone. Hope this helps someone else avoid the tricky situation we ended up in

My family just returned from our first camping trip with our four kids; ages 7, 6 & 2 year old twins. We LOVED Ida creek. The first come first serve campsites worked out well for us with a Wednesday arrival following the 4th of July. We snagged a large open site right next to the river. The grounds were beautiful and I loved how quiet and peaceful it was being truly in the wild. The vault toilet was a bit gross- but hey- it's camping. I appreciated the potable water and the garbage onsite. The fires WERE allowed in the fire pits so that made for warm mornings and fun smores filled evenings. We spent an afternoon hanging out by a slower spot in the river. The water was freezing but refreshing. The mountains were SO stunning- so scenic!

It's much cooler here so pack accordingly and beware of the mosquitos. We found a very secluded campground and it was really lovely though any of the sites would have been fine since there were no other campers. The little creek is super charming. The road up to the top were the camping site was is long and very rough so make sure to drive a vehicle that can handle that.
