**WE ARE CLOSED FOR THE 2026 CAMPING SEASON- Our home and property sustained extensive wind related tree damage this winter, and we are still cleaning up, removing hazard trees, and rebuilding. We hope to be hosting campers again starting Memorial Day weekend 2027. ** We have a private, single site located on the banks of the McKenzie River in Rainbow, Oregon. The campsite is near our home, but feels private. The access driveway and site size make it best for camper vans and smaller RV’s. Long trailers, large RV’s and tent camping are not permitted at this time. The site has 50/30 amp and 120 volt outlets, as well as water and Wi-Fi. We have a porta-potty on site Memorial Day through Labor Day. The property has many areas to set your camp chair or hang your hammock, and lots of short paths to explore. Recreation opportunities abound around here: hiking, biking, fishing, hot springs, cold springs, waterfalls, lava beds, whitewater boating on the river, and flat water paddling on the reservoirs. There are also four restaurants, a food cart, golf course and a general store nearby.

Afternoon shade on the bench by the main pond next to the aspen grove and a bit of a trickling creek when the pond is full. 10 minutes from downtown Bend and all it has to offer. 5 mins north on Brookswood to the Old Mill District, and the Deschutes river (and trail).

Campsite is on a second driveway to the front of the house on a wooded, half-acre lot in a quiet neighborhood in Southwest Bend. House lots are big and the area provides nice cool morning walks. There is a curb at the start of the driveway but aids will be provided if necessary. Electrical (110x2; 50A with converter to 30A), water, and sewer hookups are available! The sewer hookup may not work if your drain is underneath your vehicle and low to the ground. There is a fenced in yard that may be used if your dog(s) get along with mine and you help with poop patrol. You will need to check the fence line to confirm that your dogs cannot get out, as I am not responsible if they escape. A large part of my yard is rewilding, so you will see tall grasses and increasing varieties of flowers over the years. A hot tub may be available by appointment. House is enhanced by the use of focused life force energy (FLFE.net), so enjoy relaxing in the higher vibes. There is one cat to rule us all and she may grace you with her presence if you welcome her. And a border collie to guard anyone she deems as part of her "flock." Site is located an easily walkable ½ mile from a shopping center with grocery (just closed but hoping for another to take its place), vet, Mexican and Asian-fusion restaurants, and a wine bar with occasional entertainment. Beyond that, is a park with a climb to a tall hill with a lovely 360 overlook view of the surrounding mountains. There is access to the river and river trail about ¾ mile walk away - this trail can take you all the way to Farewell Park and the Old Mill shopping area. And a bus stop is around the corner, just about a house length away. This is a great base location for all your adventures in Bend and surrounding areas, and a quiet place in which to relax afterwards. Our house is located in Wood River Village. It is the beginning of where the Deschutes River bends as it comes into the town of Bend. One can quickly and easily walk to the river trail from our house. By going up river, one gets the sense of being remote and in the forest along a well maintained trail that makes a 3 miles loop with many rapids visible from the trail. By walking down river, one can quickly access Hayden Homes Amphitheater, Old Mill shopping and Downtown on a paved walking path. The neighbors at the adjacent fenced property to the east have a couple of very friendly but curious dogs that like to be introduced to any newly arriving animals! When you request a booking, please tell me what kind of RV you'll be bringing, and confirm whether it is fully self-contained (with toilet and holding tanks). Also, you must park your RV and any other vehicles on the graveled surface to prevent damage to the underlying water system. Quiet generators may be used between 8am-8pm. Summers & holiday weekends require a 4-night minimum stay. All other times require a 3-night minimum. PLEASE NOTE: Use the property's elevated deck (maximum weight capacity: 350 lbs.) and gravel path to the river's edge at your own risk and with the utmost caution! We had an amazing stay at James’s place. The property is incredibly private and secluded, offering peaceful surroundings and beautiful star-filled skies at night. James provided plenty of firewood, which made the evenings even more enjoyable. One of the highlights of our stay was getting to know James. He was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. He took the time to explain everything in detail, including local attractions, nearby places to visit, and the hiking trails on the property. His knowledge of the area and hospitality made our experience even better. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by nature, this is a fantastic place to stay.

This location is extremely close to most everything there is: shopping right downtown is less than 12 minutes away where there is a LOT of good stuff; Phills & etc mountain biking is just up the road; and the Descheutes River/Trail is a very comfortable, openspace walk, bring your trecking shoes, fly rod, or bike. They are very accomodating, and expect to keep your dog on a line. It's a good place....Do it!

Lovely refuge out in the rural, country landscape. Really prompt replies/communication from host. Honored to have the privilege to be able to park safely on the home owner’s property. I don’t need the water & electricity connections (van camping). Those of us who are equipped to roam, are graced by stewards/owners of land who are willing to share so that when we wander, we aren’t always at the mercy of busy campgrounds, right next to others’ rigs/sounds/activities. I hope that guests continue to respect such opportunities ~

This spot was perfect for what I was looking for…a place close to the Deschutes River so I could do some paddle boarding, 10 minute walk to the Old Mill District for food, etc and walkable to the Hayden Homes Ampitheater for an evening concert. This is not a place that you are going to pull out chairs and hang out for the evening. But it is really tough to beat the location for proximity to activities. Joel is a nice guy and accommodating. You will need your own toilet setup, but he does have access to a hose and 110 power cord. I will be. Coming back when I have activities in the area.

Weekend Trip to Winberry Walden

This is a beautiful campsite! Full hookups in a stunning forest setting. There is a short hiking trail that weaves around the property and takes you to the river. Another trail takes you to an amazing waterfall on the property. The host was very attentive and even left out some dog treats. WiFi worked great. We went to mcreadie hot springs that day probably around 30-40 minutes away. There is a small market maybe 15 minutes away. We camp out a lot. I would say in the past 4 years this was the best hipcamp site we have been to.

So quiet. Beautiful meadow next to camping spot. Close enough to Eugene to see our daughter-in-law for dinner twice. Lots of space to walk on trail nearby and cute bridge and waterfall near the driveway entrance. Hosts were available if you needed them, but respect privacy also. Recommend...

Great camping experience. James' trailer pad and hookups were perfect. The campground felt amazingly private and quiet. James was welcoming and helpful. The property had a beautiful hiking trail. We used this to stay close to the Covered Bridge Regatta, and it worked great, being just 15 minutes from the lake.
