Welcome to our enchanting Outdoor Stay Area, nestled among the tall, mystical firs of McKenzie Bridge in the breathtaking McKenzie River Valley. Enjoy nature's embrace! Gather around our central communal campfire area, adorned with rustic log benches. Cook on the swing out grill over a complementary wood fire when allowed.
As summer matures, and burn bans no doubt crop up, we provide a propane campfire ring which you may enjoy between 8-10pm, while permitted. Message before booking to confirm any campfire details or requests. I'm always happy to answer any questions.
I live on site but generally the Outdoor Stay Area is self-serve unless I have a special request to cater.
Tent sites are covered with wood chips for a comfortable night's rest.
Hose water is available. As well, we've added an insulated "drinking water hose" for improved taste and water quality.
During your stay explore the wealth of outdoor activities in the McKenzie River Valley, from hiking and fishing to relaxing by the river (1/2 mile walk), biking, golf, a soak in one of three hot springs in our area or visit historical sites. View waterfalls or book a white water adventure with a local guide!
The area's wildlife, including deer, elk, grey fox and various bird species, provide a daily delight. If you like birds, you will adore the Swainson’s Thrush birdsong that paints the air in the mornings and evenings here.
Our Outdoor Stay Area is a gateway to adventure with towering firs and lush greenery creating an enchanting atmosphere. Whether seeking solitude or company, our camp is perfect for your retreat. Included are two power and potable water sites, up to 8 guest. Power pedestals have 50-30 and 20 amps at each location. Both locations have a 50' power extensions(30amp) and extra water hoses if needed. There are two picnic tables, fire pit, extra seating, garbage, WIFI and one portable toilet on site for use during your stay.
There is no septic on site for gray or black waste There is a dump site approx. 1 mile west.

We have a private, single site located on the banks of the McKenzie River in Rainbow, Oregon. The campsite is near our home, but feels private. The access driveway and site size make it best for camper vans and smaller RV’s. Long trailers, large RV’s and tent camping are not permitted at this time. The site has 50/30 amp and 120 volt outlets, as well as water and Wi-Fi. We have a porta-potty on site Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The property has many areas to set your camp chair or hang your hammock, and lots of short paths to explore. Recreation opportunities abound around here: hiking, biking, fishing, hot springs, cold springs, waterfalls, lava beds, whitewater boating on the river, and flat water paddling on the reservoirs. There are also four restaurants, a food cart, golf course and a general store nearby.

TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials.
Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well. These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times.
Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired.
My deepest thanks to all who have stood alongside through this journey and continue to do so. May we collectively create TOM'S REST with Tom's intention and the passion he infused in us to carry it through to fulfillment.

The Space: Our hand made tiny house offers a double sized mattress (bedding included) in the upstairs area (access via an attached ladder). Room for an additional person across from double bed also in upstairs area or put provided mat on the floor. Please note: the space is small for 3 people and better serves 2.
The Kitchen: Tiny house kitchen area has a small refrigerator, small counter space for meal prep, a tea kettle for hot water, water jug for fresh water, french press coffee pot and coffee/tea, hot plate for cooking, popcorn maker and popcorn, pots and pans, silverware, napkins, bottle openers, etc. We now have a new small outdoor kitchen with a two burner propane stove and an outside fish washing station.
The Facilities: The tiny house offers a composting toilet for night time pee pee needs and offers a port-a-potty for all other uses please! If you want to know a secret river dipping spot or where to go to find a sauna I’m happy to share!
Outdoor Shower: We have a lovely little “instant hot” shower for use on non freezing days.
The Location: We are conveniently located between beautiful Bend, Oregon and Sisters, Oregon. We have hiking and biking trails within .3 of a mile! We also have books to recommend 100's of other hiking, biking, nordic skiing and alpine skiing nearby! And, since we are outdoor enthusiasts ourselves, we are happy to recommend places to ski, hike, mountain bike, float or paddle!

Welcome to our enchanting Outdoor Stay Area, nestled among the tall, mystical firs of McKenzie Bridge in the breathtaking McKenzie River Valley. Enjoy nature's embrace! Message a special request if you are seeking a group site or event booking for multiple sites or to book campsites plus indoor accomodations in the Hygge A-Frame (listed on AirBnB and VRBO).
Gather around our central communal campfire area, adorned with rustic log benches. Cook on the swing out grill over a complementary wood fire when allowed.
As summer matures, and burn bans no doubt crop up, we provide a propane campfire ring which you may enjoy between 8-10pm, while permitted. Message before booking to confirm any campfire details or requests. I'm always happy to answer any questions.
I live on site but generally the Outdoor Stay Area is self-serve unless I have a special request to cater.
Tent sites are covered with wood chips for a comfortable night's rest.
Hose water is available. As well, we've added an insulated "drinking water hose" for improved taste and water quality.
During your stay explore the wealth of outdoor activities in the McKenzie River Valley, from hiking and fishing to relaxing by the river (1/2 mile walk), biking, golf, a soak in one of three hot springs in our area or visit historical sites. View waterfalls or book a white water adventure with a local guide!
The area's wildlife, including deer, elk, grey fox and various bird species, provide a daily delight. If you like birds, you will adore the Swainson’s Thrush birdsong that paints the air in the mornings and evenings here.
Our Outdoor Stay Area is a gateway to adventure with towering firs and lush greenery creating an enchanting atmosphere. Whether seeking solitude or company, our camp is perfect for your retreat. Included are two power and potable water sites, up to 8 guest. Power pedestals have 50-30 and 20 amps at each location. Both locations have a 50' power extensions(30amp) and extra water hoses if needed. There are two picnic tables, fire pit, extra seating, garbage, WIFI and one portable toilet on site for use during your stay.
There is no septic on site for gray or black waste There is a dump site approx. 1 mile west.

We have a private, single site located on the banks of the McKenzie River in Rainbow, Oregon. The campsite is near our home, but feels private. The access driveway and site size make it best for camper vans and smaller RV’s. Long trailers, large RV’s and tent camping are not permitted at this time. The site has 50/30 amp and 120 volt outlets, as well as water and Wi-Fi. We have a porta-potty on site Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The property has many areas to set your camp chair or hang your hammock, and lots of short paths to explore. TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials.
Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well. These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times.
Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired.

The Space: Our hand made tiny house offers a double sized mattress (bedding included) in the upstairs area (access via an attached ladder). Room for an additional person across from double bed also in upstairs area or put provided mat on the floor. Please note: the space is small for 3 people and better serves 2.
The Kitchen: Tiny house kitchen area has a small refrigerator, small counter space for meal prep, a tea kettle for hot water, water jug for fresh water, french press coffee pot and coffee/tea, hot plate for cooking, popcorn maker and popcorn, pots and pans, silverware, napkins, bottle openers, etc. We now have a new small outdoor kitchen with a two burner propane stove and an outside fish washing station.
The Facilities: The tiny house offers a composting toilet for night time pee pee needs and offers a port-a-potty for all other uses please! If you want to know a secret river dipping spot or where to go to find a sauna I’m happy to share!
Outdoor Shower: We have a lovely little “instant hot” shower for use on non freezing days.
The Location: We are conveniently located between beautiful Bend, Oregon and Sisters, Oregon. We have hiking and biking trails within .3 of a mile! We also have books to recommend 100's of other hiking, biking, nordic skiing and alpine skiing nearby! Great camping experience. James' trailer pad and hookups were perfect. The campground felt amazingly private and quiet. James was welcoming and helpful. The property had a beautiful hiking trail. We used this to stay close to the Covered Bridge Regatta, and it worked great, being just 15 minutes from the lake.

I had a nice and relaxing time staying here. I really enjoyed being immersed in the forest while still having a lot of amenities available. Having WiFi was a big plus and helped me feel a bit more safe as a solo traveler. My dog and I loved roaming around the property and checking out the trails/future campsites. You can tell a lot of love and hard work has been put into this land. I appreciate the thought put into everything (hygiene supplies in the restroom, leaving out dog treats/a bowl, snacks, the tea/nespresso pods, even creamer and water in the fridge). I am very pleased with my stay and will definitely be back/recommend this site to friends/family. Thank you for everything! 😁

Fantastic place! Richard had everything you could possibly need and was a fun guy to chat with. Wish I stayed longer, but will definitely be back. My dog loved it and so did I. Felt safe and secluded, very well-built too.

We took our airstream out for the first time to test it all out with our dogs. The property was peaceful and private and the trails off the property were great to explore.
James also had a fire all ready to be lit, firewood and a lighter on site for us.
Excited to see what they do with the property in the years to come.

Weekend Trip to Shelter at Castle Rock Farm🏕️🚐
Nice secluded spot. When you lay down at night you can hear the peaceful sound of the creek in the distance. The amenities are very nice and convenient. You still get the feel of a primitive campsite by sleeping in a tent, cooking with propane stoves, cleaning dishes in a wash basin, and using an outhouse. But staying with Richard you don’t have to pack, haul, set up, and tear down all that stuff. This allowed me to really enjoy being out in nature and making a fun camp meal without as much headache.

Nice and comfy yurt on some amazing lava rock formations. Krystal was a wonderful host and they had cute animals that greeted us at the site! The hipcamp was conveniently located to all the fun stuff you can do in and out of Bend :)

Ruby's cabin is nestled amongst beautiful cedars and pines with a view of a large green meadow out front. The cabin is cozy with 2 comfy twin beds, a nice table and chairs for games and eating and our absolute favorite was the wood stove. It has plenty of windows and a great loft for extra sleeping space. The outdoor kitchen is conveniently located and very well stocked. We went on several long walks exploring some of the 200 acres the cabin is on. We saw deer during our walks which was extra special. Ruby's cabin is a little slice of heaven!

Perfect Place to Suck Out All the Marrow of Life!
Excellent directions and communication (limited cell service but awesome WiFi on site). The property is gorgeous with trails and waterfalls (and future campsites) to explore, and the surrounding area has plenty of hiking, swimming and recreating opportunities. The studio was a blend of modern tech and remote natural retreat and was outfitted with everything we needed to cook our own simple meals. Even though the main house is directly attached, James and Linda were so quiet we wouldn’t even have known they were there if we hadn’t seen the car parked outside the house. We’d definitely love to go back and explore more of the area.

Angela was very kind and helpful. We had the place to ourselves and felt very safe. Even with the dogs next door she reassured us that their barking would stop and even called the neighbors to ask what was going on. Very relaxing and beautiful location! This camp could not be more perfect for families, people with pets, or folks looking to just disconnect and reset at the speed of the forest. Richard has really done some amazing things with his property and definitely has thought of what each camper will need. It's beautiful, everywhere you look things are just idyllic. From the healthy, happy looking deer that wander thru at all hours, to the self-confident picturesque turkeys, to the mossy paths, the gorgeous creek crossing bridges, the mystical looking fish pond, to all the structures he so skillfully built, this place is the best.
