Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) and Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. drive). The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The views are absolutely stunning and the water is crystal clear -- and quite refreshing on a hot day. Fishing is best done in a canoe or small boat which can be put in at our campground dock (free) or at the nearby public boat ramp ($5 fee). When selecting your campsite, please take note of the following: Best lake views: Sites A, C and D. (Sites 1, 2, 3, E and F have partially obstructed lake views due to trees.) Easiest RV access: Site B. It's a pull-through site. Most private: Sites A, B, 1, 2 and 3, or Sites C/D or E/F, when booked in pairs. This is a very private and quiet place, more of a sanctuary and not a party place. The only thing you hear is nature, a breeze through the pine trees, the birds, and the creek. This property was and is an organic permaculture farm in the forest. There are two orchards and an organic garden. The water is from a spring. The La Luna cabin is no longer off grid, but if the power does go out, it's a great place to be.. Hot Showers at my cabins are private and outdoors. There's nothing more wonderful than a hot spring-fed shower. The toilets are composting. (No water is wasted here)! Two of the cabins were built from the trees on the property by the first family that lived here in the earlier 1900s. The Birds Nest cabin was originally a tool shed that needed a LOT of Love to be in the condition that it is today. It does have power, running water and wi-fi. There is the option to take an acrylic painting class, banjo, guitar or fiddle lessons, paddleboard lessons, and have a real old-timey campfire with a glass of wine or two with live music performed by our famous Fiddlin Red on the fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Your experience here may change your life forever! We haven't added all the experiential options yet, so if there is something you are interested in please inquire. Every year we make it more and more magical and interesting. It's four miles up a county-maintained dirt road and one mile to a non-motorized lake. I can't see my neighbors, but they are awesome artists and musicians and some of them are off the grid! If you're bringing a pet, they must be on a leash and be quiet pets. If you are bringing a child they also need to be quiet and respectful. I want to keep my neighbors and my other guests happy with a peaceful atmosphere. Thank you!

Trestle Creek Park on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille, is another of our favorite places and it's only a 16-mile drive through some of the most picturesque areas of the NW. After a fun filled day exploring North Idaho come and relax at The Lost Fainting Goat Ranch, an amusing name for a place we call home. There is a separate private driveway, and you will have the whole camp area to yourselves, yet we aren't far away should a need arise. You may occasionally hear us (4 busy kids, 1 fat cat, 2 friendly dogs, 1 noisy rooster and 11 happy hens yet still no fainting goats) but we want you to feel like you are in your own private sanctuary. We are offering a new furnished bell tent in a secluded area of our private property in the beautiful mountains of Sandpoint Idaho. Our camp area is along a quiet creek that is visited by deer, wild turkey, squirls and even the occasional moose. There are also those less desirable critters that live in nature like insects, and we do try and mitigate those troublemakers with screens, traps, Diatomaceous Earth and other natural means. This area of our property is off grid with a wonderful shower house built from wood milled from our own land, complete with hot water and a compost toilet. We even provide Starlink WiFi and a way to charge cell phones thanks to our solar charged batteries. There is a fire pit, comfy chairs, a beautiful picnic table, again, made from wood from our own land, and a screened in area with cooking supplies. Our family enjoys hosting guests and we enjoy meeting new people. The most common phrase we heard when we first moved here was "Welcome to Idaho!" We hope you love it here as much as we do. When you reserve your time with us, please look for messages regarding directions and check-in instructions, we like to meet everyone to show you around and it gets pretty dark out here in the country and the cell coverage is pretty spotty in our area. Learn more about this land: This 14-foot yurt is a short walk of about 50 yards from the guest parking. You will pass our 30-ft family yurt going to your own private space. There is a small gravity feed water system for the yurt and your own private outhouse. Plenty of wood for you to stay warm by the fire inside and an outdoor shower shared by our family. The kitchen comes with pots and pans, plates, etc. and a few extras. You will hear the sounds of nature and North Idaho at times out in your yurt as trains pass through the valley to Canada. We are 1.5 miles away from the tracks. If you are into being independent and open to new experiences then we would love to share our space with you. Please pull in the drive and pull up past the big garage and park to the left by the Yurt Parking Sign. Then walk towards the trail sign and follow the path. Recommended for you to bring a headlamp and outdoor slippers to walk to the outhouse or shower during your stay. We have towels at the yurt for your use. I loved Ashley’s yurt!! This place is a piece of heaven. The yurt is so comfy and cozy and has everything you might need. The bed is incredibly comfortable and they have the best pillows. The hot tub is the best part. Getting to relax with snow falling all round makes it feel like a dream.

This place is magical! The cabin is adorable and very cozy. There’s little lanterns in the trees which are a great touch at night. The water is super close and the fishing dock is wonderful to sit on while watching sunset. It was so quiet and peaceful. The restroom was super clean and near by. It’s a very well kept and beautiful location.

Fantastic place. Very clean and very neat. Sabrina thought of everything! Lanterns, headlamps, outdoor solar lights, motion lights, clover in the outdoor shower, books, private with fantastic views. We will def book again.

1 night at Paradise on Mirror Lake

Beautiful site! I stayed at site A, and it's a cozy, tiny cabin, but the site itself felt like a ton of space. Clean, private, and on the lake! I saw a ton of wildlife too. And it's cheaper than most places would be for what you get. Will be going back sooner than later! Nathaniel was a great host too. My only feedback would be to include signs to the garbage disposal. I tried to find it after dark and got lost even with the map (this may be user error so take it with a grain of salt).

Weekend Trip to Cozy Mountain Bungalow

The cabin was great - it was a small shed converted into a cabin that had a single (full-sized? queen?) bed with a rocking chair, an armoir, and a small closet. The bathroom was an attached outhouse with sawdust to soak up waste and neutralize any smells. They provided a camping sink with 5 gallons of water, a camping gas stove, a citranella candle, and plates, bowls, and utensils. The cabin sits towards the middle of the driveway to the hosts' house and they have the friendliest dog. My son and I had a great time. Zero light pollution, no noise pollution, just fresh north Idaho air.

We had a great stay at Chris and Michal's place! It was the perfect mix of luxury (good tent, great kitchen set up, hot water) and camping (on a sweet little creek, very private). Our hosts were also very attentive and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome.

Weekend Trip to Lost Fainting Goat Ranch

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chris and Michal’s campsite! They have loaded it with everything you could need, plus a ton of extras, to make for the best camping experience. The location was perfect and just what we were looking for- close enough to town and the lake, but far enough to see the starts at night and listen to nature. 10/10 experience and I hope we can visit again!

Weekend Trip to Paradise on Mirror Lake

We had a wonderful visit. This is our 2nd visit. The lake has alot of Lilly pads but we went out and went swimming at Lake Pend Orielle and had a great time. The lil cabin is nice to put all of our stuff in so that it doesn't clutter the tent. The burn ban was in effect but we still sat around the fire pit and listened to all the sounds. The frogs were making music. So many turkeys and deer. Such a gorgeous view. Will be back again!

Weekend Trip to Paradise on Mirror Lake

This was the first Hipcamp experience for us and it was a good one. The lake was peaceful and the little cabin so cute. I loved how easy it was to book and the communication and detail on locating the place was great. We lucked out with this tiny gem. When we arrived it was beautiful and sunny but within 20 minutes or so a storm complete with big hail came rolling in. Having the cabin for shelter was nice during the storm even though it was short lived. It was a cozy spot. The touch of having solar lanterns gave it a special touch for the evening. The extras like a cot and sleeping pads was a help. I would recommend this place. Next hopefully we can stay longer to explore more.

We had a fantastic stay at the cabin. It is a cute and cozy space, not too far from coeur d’alene but outside the city enough to avoid the noise and city lights. The dogs felt really comfortable and were able to run around and explore. We had all the comforts of home away from home and Aran was a really welcoming and responsive host. Would love to go again in the colder months to stoke a fire and enjoy the beautiful scenery in winter

The location was easy to find with instructions given for checking in. The area was beautiful. The outdoor shower was great and easy to use. Taking a shower under the stary skies and while the sun rose was amazing. The Port-a-potty was clean and well stocked. The dome was clean with plenty of space for our things. The stars and planets were big and bright in the night/early morning sky. We heard coyotes in the early morning and a few white tail deer ran across the field.. We loved our stay.

Weekend Trip to Wee Place in the Woods

Flying squirrel was occupied by girls ranging in age from 14 to just shy of 18. They loved their days there. I could hear the late night laughing and joyful tones of their voices. Having the small fire pit so they could make s'more was brilliant. They loved exploring the camp and leaving their fairy houses for others to enjoy. They are planning their 18th birthday celebration there. Thank you for providing such a beautiful location to strengthen the bonds of family and friends.

A better time could not have been had! Everything was perfect. The gentle rain allowed time for reflection and restorative rest. We laughed, loved, and connected on a deeper level. Four generations and friends gathered and made lifelong memories. We can't wait for our next visit.

Green Bay Campground

Really beautiful spot right next to the pond. We got lucky and had the entire place to ourselves. Very quiet and so peaceful. Great spot for a dip after a very long day of travel. The hosts were so kind and very responsive. Once we entered the property we mistakenly went up to the owners house. We’d missed the turnoff for the campgrounds. I don’t think there was a clear sign.but as I say the hosts were extremely gracious and helpful. NOTE: Waze took us OVER Mt. Baldy. I don’t recommend this route. Very bumpy and rutted road (but beautiful vistas!!) Definitely a challenge towing a trailer - high clearance and 4-wheel drive came in handy. The route Apple Maps gives should take you AROUND Mt. Baldy which is much, much easier. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Tin Can Flat Campground

Great spot. Very shaded, and each campsite has great seclusion due to some undergrowth in the area. We were able to float the river for the most part (had to stand up and walk once) even in late August. I hear that it's usually deeper earlier, like June/July. Cool trail, Allen Ridge #17 nearby. Not too far from Avery. Great fishing in the area. Well water and clean bathrooms. Overall A+ campsite.
