Escape to Vida Bonita Ranch, a 1670-acre nature haven in northern New Mexico, where diverse landscapes of mesas, meadows, forests, and awe-inspiring cliffs create a breathtaking backdrop for your next adventure. With two miles of the Mora River winding through our property, immerse yourself in outdoor experiences like fishing, swimming, and floating. Our off-grid ranch boasts world-class stargazing and is home to an array of wildlife, including elk, deer, bears, mountain lions, turkeys, and mountain goats. Discover the remnants of old ruins, explore canyons, and visit our friendly farm animals. Bring your bikes, horses, or off-road vehicles for endless exploration – and don't forget, horseback riding is coming in 2023! Roam freely across the entire property, and enjoy your campsite equipped with a heavy-duty metal fire ring, swivel grate for grilling, and a picnic table with an umbrella. As we're off-grid, lanterns and flashlights are strongly encouraged for navigating the darkness. A porta-potty is conveniently located nearby. We have a few essentials at our on-site store, offering charcoal, eggs, snack foods, drinks, and more. Keep in mind that the nearest gas station is 75 minutes away, and cell service can be intermittent. Please arrive before sunset, as the roads leading to the property are dark and isolated, and be prepared for loose gravel that may affect your vehicle. At Vida Bonita Ranch, we're committed to preserving the land's pristine beauty. As a trash-free campsite, we ask that you take out any trash you bring in, or face a $50 fee. Embrace the spirit of sustainability and make lasting memories in our undisturbed wilderness. Book your stay now at Vida Bonita Ranch – the ultimate off-grid adventure awaits!

Rustic Bunkhouse on 1670 Acre Ranch
Booked 2 times
Tiny home · Sleeps 4
The charming original bunkhouse was remodeled in July 2022. It is a rectangular room with a Queen bed, a twin bed, and a futon couch. The wood burning stove will keep you nice and cozy. It DOES NOT have a bathroom but does have a chamber pot for nighttime use, a handwashing station, and easy access to the outhouse. The space has a retro mini-fridge, a small toaster oven, and a Keurig coffee machine.  You can also cook on an open fire or grill outside. A wide variety of cooking supplies are provided. An outdoor handwashing station is also available. The bunkhouse is near the entrance to the road down to the Mora River. You will be free to roam and wander on the entire 1670 acres, including fishing or floating in the river. It has a heavy-duty metal fire ring and swivel grate for grilling outdoors. A picnic table with umbrella is provided. The ranch is off grid, so it gets very dark at night. Flashlights and other lanterns are strongly encouraged. You will have access to the entire ranch. You are encouraged to bring mountain bikes, horses, or off-road vehicles. We also have a few groceries available, such as charcoal, snack foods, drinks, etc. The nearest gas station is 75 minutes away. Please check in before sunset because the roads leading to the property are very dark and isolated. Cell service is intermittent. The county road is also made of loose gravel, so driving your nicest car is not recommended, unless you're ok with possible dents, cracks, or paint chips.

Vida Bonita Ranch offers campers the allure of privacy and stunning views of rural New Mexico, with the Mora River adding to its natural charm. Many visitors appreciate the tranquility and the opportunity to disconnect, thanks to the absence of WiFi. However, the rugged terrain and sparse amenities like toilets might challenge some explorers. The host, Duc, along with friendly on-site dogs, have been praised for their hospitality, enhancing the overall experience.

Beautiful views of the rural New Mexico landscape. Tables and fire pits near the canyon rim setup under junipers made an excellent camp site. The harsh overgrown burr and thorn filled flora made the property challenging to explore. The Mora river provides a pleasant water feature filled with frogs and catfish. No eggs, animals, toilets, or other amenities available.

Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous property. Being almost completely silent, even from bugs and birds, it was the perfect getaway of solitude I envisioned when I booked a birthday trip for my dog. However, instructions indicate to meet the host for check in. Not only was it a total ghost town, with nobody around to meet me when we arrived, but the little to nothing in terms of signage had me scrolling back through screenshots Id shared with friends of the listing just to be sure I had landed at the correct site. I also tried contacting the host several times about a week before arrival about adding an order for fresh eggs to my booking, and was completely ignored. Hosts had even driven by on their ATV the first night without stopping or offering to rectify it.

We had a great time at Vida Bonita. Warm but cooled off at night, amazing views, beautiful river, privacy! We were hosted by Luna the entire weekend and she kept guard at our campsite through the night! Luna deserves a raise! Duc was a helpful host and super friendly!

Tent camping on Duc’s property was wonderful! It was a short hike down to the river and VERY secluded. The closest town was Las Vegas, about 1 hour and 15 minutes away from the cite. There was no WiFi connection from where we were, so a great place to come if you’re wanting to unplug from reality. Would 10/10 recommend!!

Wow! Vida Bonita Ranch is just spectacular and we had so much fun camping there over the 4th of July. It’s really secluded and way out there which brings so many benefits like dark skies (I saw the Milky Way for the first time since I was a kid!!), lots of wildlife (we saw fox, elk, deer, cool beetles, a crazy orange snake, and heard a bullfrog at night), and a total sense of peacefulness. Duc was an awesome host, too. I would definitely like to come back!
