Welcome to Tailgate Ranch, where adventure awaits! At Tailgate Ranch, we offer a unique experience with our full-time Airbnb featuring a ranch house and two vintage campers available for rent. Additionally, we warmly welcome RVs and tent campers to join us on our property. Our amenities include a fully functioning outhouse equipped with two toilets, a sink, and a shower inside, with an additional outdoor shower available for those craving a refreshing outdoor experience. For RV campers, we provide three 30-amp and one 50-amp hookup, as well as access to water for tank refills. Conveniently located just 15 minutes away from attractions like Fossil Rim Wildlife Park and Meridian State Park, as well as being within reach of the scenic Chalk Mountain Loop, adventure is always close by. After a day of exploration, unwind in downtown Walnut Springs, where you'll find a selection of fantastic restaurants and bars, or take a short trip to Glen Rose for even more excitement. Join us at Tailgate Ranch for a memorable stay filled with outdoor exploration and relaxation in the heart of Texas!

Tailgate Ranch Primitive Camping

This is a primitive camping experience on our 10 acre ranch in Walnut Springs, Texas! You'll be dry camping (boondocking) along our Northern fence line with the perfect view of our Bosque County sunsets. You'll have access to our outhouse, which is an 8x10 storage building outfitted with 2 toilets, a sink and a shower. There's also an outside shower (and a dog wash) behind the building! We're 1/2 mile from "downtown" Walnut Springs, which hosts the Rattlesnake Roadhouse, Blackie's Bait Shop, Texas Tavern, and a convenience store! If we've got rain chances, you will not be allowed to primitive camp on the property, as it will tear up the terrain. I’ve got a 30 amp hookup and direct access to a water spigot that may be available during your stay, depending on other bookings. It will cost an additional $25/night, and will require confirmation from the host in order to utilize it.

You'll have access to our outhouse, which is an 8x10 storage building outfitted with 2 toilets, a sink and a shower. There's also an outside shower (and a dog wash) behind the building! We're 1/2 mile from "downtown" Walnut Springs, which hosts the Rattlesnake Roadhouse, Blackie's Bait Shop, Texas Tavern, and a convenience store! If we've got rain chances, you will not be allowed to camp with large rigs on the property, as it will tear up the terrain.

30 amp hookups with Water/showers
We enjoyed tent/car camping at The Tailgate Ranch. Our host Julia greeted us on arrival and made sure we had everything we needed and made herself available if we had questions. This is a great place for camping and boondocking The ground is level and cleared with lots of space. The overall location is perfect. We used it as a home base to go explore nearby towns like Hico and Glen Rose and Dinosaur Valley State Park. The restroom was clean and comfortable with air and heating if needed. There are indoor and outdoor showers and also an outdoor kitchen sink with hot water. This is a pet friendly place with resident dogs and cats who will come say hello. If you're in the area definitely choose Julia's place to stay!

We absolutely loved our stay and the two resident cats Jaq and GusGus made the our stay extra special - they even walked us back and forth to the outhouse. We definitely plan to return!

Great place to stay for a night of tent camping. Beautiful sunset. Out house was fully stocked shower and everything. Made friends with the cats.

Tailgate Ranch Primitive Camping
We had a fabulous time at Julia’s Tailgate Ranch during the 2024 eclipse. She went out of her way to make us all feel welcomed, including a bonfire the night before. There are tons of cool details like a fantastic shower/bathroom facility with dish washing station outside and really fun, creative yard art. The local town is also very fun. Worth a detour to stay here.
