The electrical setup appears somewhat fragile, relying on multiple extension cords and splitters, except the RV site with 30A

Site 22: Smaug's Escape 15amp water
I loved camping on Michael's land, and would return! When we got here, our site was flooded so he allowed us to use another site temporarily while he had mulch and a drain put in so the site could be used even wet. Then, we quickly realized we had no shade and this site wouldn't work, so he let us switch to yet another site that wasn't booked to make our stay much better!! Mike is very accomodating and all around fantastic host! We moved to site 22, Smaugs site right next to the horses, which was definitely a highlight! Mike also provided DE for the ants in the site, and always asking everyone if they needed anything from town. Everyone there is so warm, friendly and welcoming. Truly great people here! The road noise is obnoxious but the host has no control over it, and most nights it's very quiet. The stargazing is OUT of this world, and the nearby small towns are full of kind people. We truly enjoyed our stay of 6 weeks at the shire, even got a chance to watch all extended edition LOTR movies and made memories with my kids. 10/10 would highly recommend this hidden gem!

At night you can hear the vehicles on the road. Only the restroom was dirty.

Pros: I stayed with Smaug for 2 weeks and it was perfect. I loved being next to the horses. I got to see the total lunar eclipse because of all the OPEN skies here. The location is perfect if you want to spend time in San Antonio and the surrounding area. There is so much history here. Mike is a great host and all I had to do was ask if I needed something. You can’t beat the price for all the amenities you get. Cons: I wish there had been more grass but it’s hard to grow in a drought. A picnic table would have been nice. Some sites have them.

Site 7 Arwen's Arcadia 15Amp water
For the price it’s ok… outdoor shower is cold and the tenants in the house locked the door to the bathroom our second evening. A woman sat on the front porch smoking and that wafted in.

The stay went well. Lots of space and everything you need to regroup and relax. The communication was great and Michael is a good person. The horses around the property were nice to watch.

Unlevel ground. Shower doors are not private ,can see right though it. Porta potty was not given proper attention.

This property has a nice setting however campers are parked only metres away from a busy highway - if you are used to semi’s driving past you - then fine …. But that is not enjoyable!

Ways check in reasonable price and nice guy. Will take some skill to get into other spots but you can make it.

Great Host, Great Place. Michael is constantly improving his property and is a very gracious host. The shower is cold, crystal-clear, well water, and will take your breath away, but hey, its invigorating. Hwy 173, sometimes busy with Tractor Trailers passing, is close to some sites, Id recommend getting as far back from it as possible. AAA+

The place was peaceful and they let u have your privacy. The other campers were kind and kept to themselvesbas well. (Personally, im a loner ;) ) it could use a little attention but it had potential to be an upclass spot.

This was perfectly fine for a quick overnight stay, but I was not impressed by the facilities. The washroom/ laundry is shared with the main house and there is NO WAY TO LOCK IT FOR PRIVACY! The cleanliness was also an issue. The area is not well kept and feels like it could use a good clearing, cleaning, and organising. With a little more care it would be really great, but needs an influx of love and care. For $15, it was better than the Walmart parking lot. But not by much.

Everfree Shire Ranch is a great place to be around nature and a very peaceful environment. Mike is an awesome host and very accommodating. Whether you're on a trip and just looking for a place to camp for the night or you're into long-term camping, this is the place.....

Very cool place and warm/welcoming environment. I stopped here on a bike tour to tent camp and would definitely recommend it. Everything was as described and I got a great night of sleep here. Michael was also very accommodating and let me arrive early. Hope to stay here again!

Michael is really nice and responsive. The sites are grass but close to level. I didn't use it, but there is a common area for a fire with a table and bbq. He also has a laundry and bathroom available. I had a 30 amp site with water and everything worked fine. It's less than 5 miles to Devine and it took me 35 minutes to get to the Alamo. My wife's verizon cell signal is a little weak, but my att signal was strong. I would certainly stay here again.

Great place to camp when passing through. Nice place away from the town. Next to a road that had cars passing but not too loud. I would stay again if I pass that way.

We loved site 10 and our horse neighbors! Appreciated having an outdoor shower and indoor toilet option. The washer and dryer were cool offer for a great price. Mike and the other campers kindness made it a favorite for our family. Thank you again! Will be back!
