I stayed a partial night at this camp. I have a small hunting camper on the back of my truck, and was looking for somewhere I could disconnect from it and go work the gig economy for a few days. That night, we got a very good freezing rain, and the ground got very soft. At that point I realized I wasn't going to be able to disconnect from my camper, being that I didn't want it to sink and not be able to hook back up.
But I would revisit this campground, if the weather were dry, and during the warmer season. You definitely cannot beat the price!! It is very close to the road, but there was almost no traffic during the time I was there.

Tent camping with Wayne was a breeze. Easy check-in, awesome gentleman and good location to town. Wayne checked on us to make sure we were all good, site was in amazing condition and the surrounding area was beautiful as well. Perfect weekend getaway and a great host!

My reservation was canceled because the site was apparently already booked but this was not indicated on the site. The cancellation did not happen until the next day and I was forced to make alternate plans.

We had a lot of good time in Wayne's camp site. The location is very convenient, near of many amenities such restaurants, convenient stores and canoeing trips . Wayne was an excellent host . We would recommend this place.

Owner woke up at midnight to make sure we were all good (came really late!), we really appreciate it.. spot is as advertised, simple and good for a stay in the area… beware of the cow noises at night!

It's a birders paradise at Hopper's Field! Countless songbirds serenaded/ boisterous bovine made it feel bucolic/ enjoyed cool breezes at the burbling creek/ a path to enjoy a canopy of white pines as you forest bathe/ fireflies sparkling in the night sky while enjoying the bursts of lightning happening at the lower elevations. The wildflower plantings and mowed paths were a wonderful way to enjoy nature~ I loved my stay and would definitely book again! Thanks Wayne for being a great host!

This spot was great and Wayne was great! Very nice to camp by the creek. We just did one day on a pass through, but will definitely be back to explore the area. Very nice that the dog could be off leash with plenty of room to run and play.

Wayne was amazing! Sweetest and most genuine person out there. Beautiful hidden spot, I would totally go back with company any day. Truly appreciative of the location and price. (Just a little side note: if alone, do not camp by road. Got a little dicey. And I had plenty of protection to make me safe.) I chalked it up to my mind getting the better of me being alone. So stay at top of hill if alone. But had I had a family with me, would have been the best most awesome secluded and amazing place on earth. Thank you again Wayne for everything!!!!!

This place was great! We stayed here on a quick overnight to Doughton Park. The land was well maintained, the fire pit area was super nice, and the view/area was pretty. Wayne was nice and communicative. We had three kids and a dog with us and everyone enjoyed the fields to run around in. We will be back!

We had an awesome experience at this site. The host was absolutely amazing and friendly. We stayed at the electric hookup site and it was beautiful. This site is only minutes from downtown Sparta or the blue ridge parkway. I highly suggest.

Wayne was kind and helpful, providing an extension cord and friendly interaction. We chose Site 3 on the crest of a hill and angled our camper in such a way that we didn’t have to see anything other than a quiet country view. Wayne also has 20amp house power at this site only for charging phones and using typical home appliances. Site 2 was below us and was a nice field with a great foothill view. Site 1 was creekside at the base of the hill and would be fun to splash in, however it is probably 30 feet from the paved road and wouldn’t be as quiet as Sites 3 and 2. Sparta was 15 degrees cooler than Winston Salem and was just what we were looking for.

The site was nice but would certainly be better in the summer. Unfortunately due to some miscommunication, Wayne thought we had cancelled our stay and so we did not come prepared for the mud after some rain and snow. Luckily his nephew was able to pull our camper out with a tractor, which we are eternally grateful for. Would not recommend in the winter or spring due to how the rain might soften the ground but could certainly see how nice this would be in the summer.

Area is not very private, but has little to no traffic at night. The neighbor behind makes a bit of noise until about 8pm and starts again early in the morning. If you’re looking for a simple place for the night this will work for you!

Lots of space to choose from. We stayed by the creek and our dogs loved the water to play in. We loved the fire pit and picnic table and beautiful scenery! Definitely recommend!

This location is close to blue ridge pkwy and offers views of the blue ridge. We camped in the grassy lawn near the hay field, but there is another area also near a creek. Wayne was a very nice and helpful host.

Wayne was really nice and welcoming. the site upkeep was great, and we snagged the area with the picnic table down by the creek. very nice spot with trees. the drawbacks were that there is a floodlight from a neighboring property off in the distance, so if you stay there, just be sure to position your tent so the floodlight is blocked by trees. Also, the site by the creek is pretty close to a road. Not a super busy road but something to be aware of. Its certainly not an isolated spot. All in all though, great site in terms of value and location is great in terms of convenience, right near the Blue Ridge parkway.

Samurai enjoyed the creek on the property and the walk up the hill. (He went to the creek as soon as I let him out of the tent in the morning, I think he may have dreamt about it, lol).

Wayne was a wonderful host and clearly a nice guy all around! The site pictured is gorgeous but very near the road. This makes for incredibly easy access to a beautifully setup site. There are 2 sites further back from the road which are well taken care of as well if that is your preference(as it was ours) then those are options as well!

Wayne was a great host! We stayed by the creek and our children enjoyed exploring the water. It was a nice simple site. Close to the road and easy to get around the area. Also close to the parkway. We enjoyed our stay.
