Jennie's place is the real desert feel! The campsite is close to the house but you can find privacy and feel in the middle of nowhere. No star gazing for us as it was raining, bit it did not spoil the feeling!

This place was a perfect last minute find on my way back to Colorado when Joe Skeen was totally full. Jeanie and Brian are very kind and came out to flag me down when I missed the turn. As a solo woman I felt very safe here and slept great. The views are beautiful and the sunset is delightful! My favorite part was the huge wood deck which I was able to pull up right next to and use as my front porch. Very grateful for the safe and lovely stay.
Note: the pavilion shown in pictures is not available for campers. Definitely only an option for fully self sustained rigs. Do not stay here if you don’t have a bathroom set up. And with no water, no trash and no bathroom, $39 (which is what it is after all the taxes and fees) felt a little high since you can find sites that provide all those and showers for the same price. Still I’d recommend it, private, quiet and it was perfect in a pinch.

Great desert campsite! It’s conveniently close to I-40 if you’re traveling in either direction, but still far enough out that you aren’t bothered by any highway noise. Beautiful sunsets and night sky. The hosts were very welcoming, and so was their pup! Recommend for self-contained campers.

I had a wonderful stay at Jeanie and her husband’s place! The atmosphere was incredibly peaceful and quiet, making it the perfect retreat. I was there to teach my shy dog the joys of camping, and the setting was ideal for our little adventure.
Jeanie warmly greeted me upon arrival, which made me feel right at home. I loved having the entire space to myself, allowing for a truly private experience. The weather was absolutely perfect, and the sky was a breathtaking sight, adding to the overall beauty of the location.

I can’t recommend this place. Here’s why.
The owner was no help and it seemed like I was bothering her for just being there. Almost rude.
When I asked if I had to park next to the house (the spot is very close to the house) she finally got back to me with, “There’s plenty of room back there”.
Okay, where? How much? There’s a ton of property.
Where’s the boundary? How far back can I go?
I had no idea. Then she has “no fires, there’s a fire restriction”. I Googled it. There was no fire ban, period. I could see that no one was allowed to have a fire there for a very long time. Actually, Hipcamp will tell you if there is a fire ban. I just wanted to get out of there. There’s stars. But they are everywhere around here. Nothing was special and the rudeness was too much.

Jeanie and her husband were awesome hosts and their space is perfect for astronomy. I took my RV and 11" telescope for a night of skywatching and it was perfect. Very dark and quiet at night. Thanks Jeanie !

Breaking Bad Desert Camping
This is one of the coolest camps I have ever stayed at. Lives up to every piece about it in the descriptions. They even label the grill and pavilion with sign so it makes you feel more welcome using it (IFKYK). Awesome location close to 40 but so secluded. Make sure you bring everything u want while you are there, there is not quick trips out of there to anywhere. So cool! All sand/ desert but totally 2x4 accessible, gracious hosts!

The cottage was great, the wife loved it so success. Nice night break from both of us driving straight for the past few days. Excited to be shy of an hr from first park on the list! Will definitely be booking again for longer stay. Cottage was clean, quite, cozy and simple. All you needed was there, grocery store just outside on main drag, fire wood provided.

A peaceful and private spot about a half hour west of Albuquerque. The hosts were very welcoming. Plenty of room for my van, and it was easy to get in and out, level too. Not much around except for wide open space and starry skies!

They named their place Stargazer Ranch for a reason! It’s not easy to find a sky dark enough to see the stars. We enjoyed the night sky - we purposely located ourselves near Albuquerque to take in the Ballon Festival but did not want to pay the inflated prices of the ‘city spots’! Mission accomplished! We loved Jeanie's Star Gazer Ranch!
It's private yet close enough to Albuquerque. Totally peaceful. The sunsets and dark night skies were amazing as were the beautiful sunrises. Cool fire pit area too.
Jeanie is an amazing jewelry artist... if you're interested, ask about her handmade made New Mexico jewelry. Loved the earrings and bracelet we purchased! Thanks again for the hospitality!

Helpful and welcoming hosts. - and they stayed out of your way once they introduced you to the property. They were nearby if you needed them.

This was a really nice spot to camp! We stayed one night on our way to Utah. The hosts were very nice and friendly, the property itself is beautiful. Was not hard to find even in the dark as we arrived later than expected.

This was a perfect spot to stop and stay for a night. As a solo traveler I felt very safe. It was easy to find the camp site based on the instructions provided and the host came out to greet me upon arrival.
The land is beautiful and the sunset/sunrise was stunning. There are places to sit (enough for a group of people) and the horseshoe game would be fun for groups. There is a nice shady ramada area with some picnic tables just a short walk from the camp area.
The camp area is relatively close to the host’s home, but still felt very private and I didn’t see them after the initial greeting, just their small curious dog a few times.
Make sure you read the whole HipCamp listing, as Jeanie mentions - you don’t want to be without your own toilet out there. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to other self-contained campers, both solo and groups.

The hosts were so friendly and helpful, and their campsite is super cute and spacious. There is a nice covered pavilion with tables and seating, as well as a fire pit with seating. I felt very safe and would absolutely stay there again.
