Cool camp, there are lots of extra amenities on site, paper towels, charcoal, lighter fluid etc. Nice fire pit with all the tools you could need to stole the fire and cook. The outhouse was clean and had sanitizer inside. It's directly next to the Paul Bunyan trail so that is a plus. The owner was helpful and and sent me info prior to my visit and was available if needed. There was also a cool black cat named Boo that hung out with me, it was an unexpected bonus.

Great rustic cabin for short R&R
I have stayed here twice for a few days each time. The cabin an central shared area of the site are well kept an as described and were exactly what I was looking for coming out of back country camping. Beds and cabin with the option of grill cooking were a nice step up as was the water provided.nice screen bug shelter with table outside was handy, also enjoyed setting up my own small stove on the porch table for coffee, pancake, and berry breakfast the year I stayed here for the Lake Area Bluegrass Festival. Lots outside nearby to do if you are inclined, and some nice places for coffee or food in town as well. Electric and WiFi are dependent on the neighbor, so that can occasionally go bad, not an issue for me and not an issue I consider in my review of a rustic cabin… Chris has more than adequate battery light ready and also a generator option if truly desired (didn’t try that). I will come back here again when up this way, recommended for those not after the ‘big cabin at the lake’ experience.

This was a great experience and it was a great place to camp. Chris my host has everything possible there and its the cutest atmosphere. He was a great host and always checking in. Thumbs up here.

Delightful cabin up north!
We only stayed one night at Norske Camp, but we easily could have spent a week or more there! After getting us settled into our lodging, Christoph left us alone and let us enjoy his secluded cabin and grounds in complete privacy. The cabin itself was cozy and comfortable, and Christoph ensured it was stocked with every single amenity you could ever need for a lovely night in the woods. Above everything else, his immaculate attention to detail impressed us to no end!

Grouse camp
The Norske Camp was the perfect place for our grouse hunting weekend. Although rustic, Chris had everything covered for what we would or might need during our stay. Communication was prompt and clear. Highly recommend this if you’re looking for a place to unwind but still need to be close to civilization.

Norske Wood Haven
Nice wooded area just off of MN 371 convenient to several towns and also the venue of the Lakes Bluegrass Festival. I stayed in the cabin which had four bunks and a larger bed switch lighting and other amenities. Everything I tried worked well, the cabin was in fine shape. Outdoor cooking supplies as well! Tent option looked good. Site well kept up. I’ll come back if they will have me, very nice place, great value!

Great place! Very peaceful
I loved this cabin! It’s got tons of fun little details, the bunk beds were really fun, and the yard space is wonderful. The whole area is very beautiful. I enjoyed the noise from the highway, you can’t see it but can hear the traffic and I find it rhythmic and soothing. It’s secluded but also close to town in case you need to pick something up. I will be planning to come back before winter this year.

Great place, and best host!
What a wonderful spot to set up for a weekend! Spacious, clean, and so many thoughtful touches to this place! The screened in tent came in very handy at dusk when the skeeters came out full force and the composting toilet was impressive (and it shockingly smelled good…no matter what). There were so many amenities that we didn’t even take advantage of because we simply enjoyed the space and the company we were with throughout our weekend. But if you were to need something, most likely Christoph would have it for you. Speaking of our host, he was incredibly communicative and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and were having a good time. Our pup was especially happy roaming around the site safely! Highly recommend Norske Camp and will be back!

We loved Christoph's property. We were able to have the property to ourselves and he was very accommodating. There were plenty of picnic tables and chairs and a nice screened in porch when the mosquitoes came out. Any questions we had were answered right away and Christoph was very nice.

Had a great weekend. Great setup with an outdoor kitchen. We brought a pot and cutlery but there was bowls, plates and cups. Stayed nice and warm with a gas heater in October. Felt nice and private even so close to the highway. Very clean both in cabin and outhouse. Nice friendly host.

cabin was nice, host was awesome. could use a bit of upgrades on the firepit seating, but overall we enjoyed ourselfs, minus a kind of an annoying cat from next door. would do it again. thanks Christoph for making my roomates cabin in the woods thing happen.

What a hidden treasure!! Such a perfect spot with everything possible at our fingertips!! Yardzee, hiking trails, hammocks, beautiful fire area and a communal game and relaxing area.

Chris was a very welcoming and communicative host, and the Norkse Cabin was both inviting and rustic. Felt very comfortable in the cabin, and enjoyed the evening around the fire, with plenty of space to spread out our wet camp gear from the night before.

What a lovely stay! It was the perfect getaway for us. We were blessed with good weather, but in the heat up summer we were happy to hear that he had an A/C on hand just in case. There was water and the shower tent on site, but no running water inside the cabin, which was completely fine. Pine River is a short drive with a grocery store right on the main road if you forgot anything -- we went to grab some much-needed bug spray! Overall would highly recommend.

Cozy spot with great fire.
Great spot with a generous host. We enjoyed a nice fire and there was electricity to plug our camper in. Bikes were available to use on the nearby trail too! Host called and was very informative and helpful.

Chris was a very friendly and communicative guy who made sure we were comfortable. The cabin was very rustic and cute. There was no electricity which made it feel off-the-grid. I recommend bringing a couple friends, lighting a fire/some candles and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Exceeded expectations
This place rocks! The site area is huge. You can choose where to put your tent. There’s a large central fire pit and a second one off to one side. Everything you could need is provided, bug repellent, stuff to cook with, grill and charcoal, chairs and tables. He even had yardzee to play! There’s a composting toilet and an outdoor shower. We were close to lots of lakes and trails. We drove to Itasca state park one day as it was only an hour away. I would definitely recommend this site.

Excellent campground and host!
Excellent first experience using Hipcamp, with awesome host! This site is very well designed and equipped to make one feel welcome right away: firewood available, box with bug repellant and spray, Yardzee game, and bottled water--perfect touches to a campground. We had plenty of space to place 3 tents right next to each other alongside the parked old RV. There was also a cabin that is for rent, but no one used it while we were there, so we had the camp to ourselves, very peaceful! The main firepit was great, two out of my group used the camp shower area and said it was good, and the picnic tables were great, too. This will sound funny, but the composting toilet was a pleasant surprise--not only does it have a nice padded toilet seat, it also smells good in there (seriously)!! It's the best outdoor/camp outhouse I've ever used. There was a noticeable level of traffic noise during the day (didn't bother us, no big deal), but not in the evening/night. Christoph was not on site during our stay, but was always reachable and super friendly, checked in on our stay via messages and everything! We would happily return and camp here again!!

We had a great weekend at Norske Camp. The first night another camper had reserved a renting spot, which wasn’t a big deal but the privacy isn’t spectacular between the tent spots and the cabin. There aren’t blinds or curtains in the cabin either to have helped with some privacy. That was a very minor issue that didn’t prevent us from having a great weekend away from the city. Chris thought of a lot of little details from water, firewood, lighters, yard games, etc to make the weekend even better than we had planned. Very close to the trail so we got to enjoy a beautiful walk with our dogs.
