Each reservation includes firewood that is rough cut. Always call ahead when you are planning to enjoy a local attraction. This property is located on the outskirts of the village of Huntley. It is only an hour west of Chicago. This is a kid-friendly and pet friendly location. Our ducks, geese, turkeys and chickens will visit you, and you'll see likely see deer, raccoon, opossum, wild turkey, sandhill cranes, falcons, hawks, woodpeckers, coyotes and cardinals, all right from your seat in the backyard. What to do here: Hike all over our six acres of wooded countryside and nearby forest preserves and conservation district parks. If relaxation is your goal, order breakfast from our menu and skip the cooking. Downtown Huntley hosts an assortment of festivals, free concerts, and celebrations throughout the year. Check in starts at 4 PM and check out ends at 11 AM. Late check out is available for purchase as an extra for $10 per hour. ELECTRIC: If you need to use electricity to inflate a mattress or something just for a few minutes, an outdoor outlet can be found on the "lower garage" building. Just look to the left of the west facing garage door. WATER: If you need to use the garden hose to fill a 5-gallon bucket or smaller, you can use the garden hose attached to the back side of the house. Please be sure to turn the water off completely when you are done. CAR BATTERY: If your car battery dies and you need a jump David will help you if he is available. Otherwise, please call a towing service, such as Whitey's Towing. WOOD: We may have rough firewood available at no charge. We recommend campers bring their own hand saw or hatchet to cut it to the desired size. You may bring your own firewood. PICNIC TABLE/PATIOS: Please do not place any cooking device on the picnic tables. You can use a large log for this. Feel free to roll one to a desired spot. You may move the picnic tables if you would like to, we provide a limited number of picnic tables. Campers are not guaranteed that one will be available. Campers may use the patios by the house, we have 2 patios with firepits. INSECTS: If you find ground wasps or bees, just relocate your camp farther away from them. We do try to address these when we are made aware of them. We recommend bringing mosquito repellent. HAMMOCKS: Hammocks are acceptable if you protect the trees from any damage. EXTRAS (after you arrive): Please bring exact cash if you want to purchase extras after you arrive. Hip Camp does not have the capability to add extras after you have made your booking. ARRIVAL TIME: Your host would appreciate a message and phone call with your arrival time so that he can greet you and get you settled upon arrival. Remember, we have an added fee for arrivals after 10 PM.

Lovely little plot, nice open field on top of a hill, with exceptionally well-kept grass. Some lovely woods to explore, and nice facilities for what it is. We were able to drive right into the field and set up our camp for a lovely night of stargazing. Marcy and Jeff were great hosts - super friendly! They even made sure the camp lights were off so we'd have extra darkness. Marcy gave us a tour of the grounds in their cart when we arrived, and my 7-year-old just wanted to talk and hang out with her for the rest of the night. Great place for the price, for sure.

The owner was very nice amd polite. The owner was honest about the amenities offered. Not much but we knew that going in. We were just looking for a place to park and sleep overnight. The site was basically the backyard of a home with no assigned sites. So we drove down into the back yard around tents and vehicles to a (why don't you park over there) spot. To get out we had to back up through the same winding obstacle course. The owner says firewood available. To which we were told " you can pick up branches that have fallen off you want." All of this at a premium rate of $50 for what you could get a full service RV site. $25 would have been OK for a quick park and sleep site. $50 was too much.

This is the second time I have stayed with Escape to Nature, and will plan 0n staying again if I'm in the area. The property is very quite and peaceful, the morning muffins are fabulous!

This was a beautiful location. Close enough to town to be convienent but far enough out to be quiet and secluded. The site is well cared for and nicely laid out. They have a troupe of ducks and geese to entertain you as well. We recommend this for a peaceful stay.

The host was extremely helpful and knowledgeable throughout our stay. The grounds were well-kept, portable toilets in private tents were clean and ready to use with toilet paper and hand sanitizer in the tents, and morning feeding of the ducks/geese/chickens/turkeys/peacocks was fun for my kids and myself. Great first experience at camping.

Nice quiet spot. We got here late and left early. Helpful Dave guided to our choice of spots and brought us some firewood that we never did use. We had driven 1100 miles and just had to get to sleep

I have camped at several hipcamps and this one is one of the better locations ,there is allot of room in between campers and it is very well kept and has free firewood and that is a big plus if you need it for cooking , they are very attentive if you need something but also respect your privacy at the same time . It was a very nice stay

Always a pleasure to come here and get away from the city life. The stars were so bright the night we stayed here, and we also saw a shooting star! There are also ducks and plenty of wildlife to see, as well as apple trees. The owner brought us firewood to use, and he is such a kind soul to talk to. 10/10 will be coming back soon!

VERY accommodating hosts. Beautiful, quiet property, with magnificent prairie/marsh overlook. Apple trees on property. They keep fowl (ducks, geese, chickens) so if you have a dog, be prepared. Amazingly quiet part of this semi-rural/semi-suburban area. Baked goods in the morning for B&B guests, but hosts shared with camper (I was solo this night in September).

This was a fantastic space. We had a lovely camping spot with a firepit, stumps for sitting and cutting wood, and plenty of firewood provided. We were a short walk to two clean camping toilets. The view of the stars was incredible and the area was peaceful and quiet. And the bonus of muffins, two hardboiled eggs and a banana was fantastic. Breakfast was for an extra fee but well worth it for us since we were just staying one night and did not bring our camp cooking equipment. We would definitely visit this site again!

Dave was great! Property was beautiful and in good condition. Quiet and secluded. No highways or trains to wake you at odd hours. My daughter loved the ducks, geese, chickens and turkeys. Nice fire rings and free wood. Book it, no regrets here.

It was a little slice of heaven! Just 30 minutes from where we live. David and Linda are very kind hosts who take great care of their property. The ducks, geese, chickens, and turkeys were welcome company when we walked over to meet them. Everything was clean, as expected, and then some. For instance, we ordered some blueberry muffins while we were there, from the hosts, and they were served warm just out of the oven. Not even my mom did that stuff for me very regularly when I was little! We came home with some duck and chicken eggs, which we are very excited to eat. Truly a lovely space.

Easy to find and just a short distance from I-90. The land is beautiful and the distance between the sites was way more than most places we have camped. Dave was nice on the phone- we didn’t actually see him in person, but he was helpful in guiding us on the phone to where we needed to go. It was the last night of our 4 week camping trip and it was beautiful. The only issue we had was that our 2 burner Coleman stove did not fit on the logs that he recommended we use and we were not allowed to put our stove on the plastic picnic table. I think a decent size slab of wood to cook on or some thing more appropriate for a Coleman stove could be helpful. All in all a great place!
