- Best for serenity: Just outside of the state park, the BLM-operated Ponderosa Grove Campground offers primitive camping in a scenic setting.
- Best for a combo visit with Zion: If you plan to visit both Coral Sand Dunes State Park and Zion National Park, check out Zion’s Watchman Campground.
Tips for Snagging a Campsite
- Reservations for Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park open four months in advance on a rolling basis.
- Reservations may be made on the Utah State Parks website or by calling 800-322-3770.
- Some sites are held from reservations as first-come-first-served campsites.
- Some campsites are in the open sun, while others have shade trees. The park website has photos of each site.
When to Go
Prepare for hot, dry, sunny days if visiting in summer, when temperatures regularly top 90 degrees, heating up the sands. The evenings cool significantly, so grab a jacket, even if you are camping in July and August. The shoulder seasons offer cooler daytime temperatures, but freezing overnight temperatures are not out of the question. Winters are cold with the potential for snow.

- Modern restrooms, showers, and a dump station are available in the campground.
- Fire restrictions may be in place. Check for current information on the Utah State Park website.
- Some campers report hearing noise from vehicles on the dunes.
- Cell signals may be limited or unavailable in the region.
- In addition to Zion and Bryce Canyon national parks, several popular destinations are within a two-hour drive, including Kanab, Grand Canyon National Park, Kodachrome Basin State Park, Lake Powell, and Cedar Breaks National Monument.
