Oakwood Lakes State Park

As far as natural beauty goes, it’s no secret that Oakwood Lakes State Park is one of eastern South Dakota’s most spectacular spots. Made up of eight connected glacier lakes, this huge parks offers plenty to do, whether you’re up for some comfortable camping or wilderness adventuring. Stop by in the summer for hiking, swimming, and lots and lots of fishing. The whole park becomes lush and green, with the cool water from the glacial lakes offering a much needed break from the sun. Up for some wintertime adventuring? Cross-country ski, snowshoe, or ice fish to your hearts content while you warm up with a mug of steaming hot cocoa. And if all of that doesn’t pique your interest, the park even showcases a small exhibit of archaeological finds from the area.
