We are renting out our gorgeous river property located on the Chippewa River in Exeland, WI!! Our 5-acre property is equipped with electricity and power pedestals for multiple RVs, lots of space for outdoor games, a campfire area surrounded by string lights, and newly-constructed steps down to the river. There is a deep swimming hole out in front of the property, great for fishing too, and a boat landing across the river for putting in kayaks and fishing boats. Right off our river bank, we have caught muskys, catfish, smallmouth bass, and northern. We have four kayaks and two paddleboards included with the rental and firewood. There is also direct ATV and UTV access from County Highway Rd D to multiple trails heading towards the Blue Hills and endless trails heading to the UP. On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy.
I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river.
This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads.
There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been unused since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north into the national forest.
There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls.
There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site.
There is no leash required for good pups. If your pup is aggressive with other dogs or people please leash them when on the hiking trails. If your pups would stay in your campsite no leash is required. Other campers may be hiking past your campsite on the trails that is still over 100 feet away from others campsites. You may run into others on the trails where others dogs may not be leashed. If your dog is aggressive to other dogs even if yours is on leash if you can’t control them please muzzle them.

Note: When you rent our property you get the whole thing. We are not a campground. This is a private 3-acre parcel on the Chippewa River. You will not be sharing the site or facilities with anyone else.
There’s plenty of space to set up your camper or tent on the gravel pad, or you can meander down the cleared path to the river’s edge, where you’ll find your own private park complete with a fire ring, picnic table, two tent platforms (10'x12' each) and breathtaking views of the flowing river. Note: the river camping area is approximately 150 yards down a walking path.
The flat and level gravel RV/parking pad offers both 30- and 50-amp service and accommodates campers up to approximately 20 feet in length, with pull-in access (not a pull-through site). Water is available from our new well on the property. The gravel pad is about 60 feet in diameter. A full-size truck (F150) with a 20' trailer should be able to pull in and fully turn around into position on the pad.
There are multiple fishing and recreation lakes within a 30 minute drive, hundreds of miles of nearby ATV/UTV trails to explore, and many mountain bike trailheads are only about 30 miles from this location as well.

Private camping areas near the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Great Divide District
We cleared part of our private forest area in 2026 and added designated camping sites. The grounds are still a bit rough as the vegetation has not fully grown back yet, but the parking areas are solid. We also have horse pens available if you are traveling with horses and need a place to rest overnight.
We are currently a primitive campground. There are no hookups, no electricity, no water, and no toilets available. You will need to be fully self-contained during your stay. Cell service is limited (we use AT&T, so other providers may work better), but it is not completely unavailable. Cell boosters should work well here.
The gravel road leading to our property is in good condition in most areas; however, it is still a gravel road and, in some sections, a forest road with some bumpy areas. The surrounding roads are also used as ATV and snowmobile trails.
We do not allow ATVs, UTVs, or snowmobiles on our private trails. For those activities, you will need to access the trails within the National Forest. We are located near the Dead Horse Run Trail. Some of our private trails are open for campers to hike and explore.
Two of our camper sites are 60 feet long, and one is 45 feet long. These three sites are back-in only. We also have one pull-off site that is 35 feet long. Tent campers are welcome to use any of the available spaces as well.
Due to our driveway layout and the curve required to access the campground, we do not accept Class A motorhomes or large rigs. Our roads and parking areas are a sand-and-rock mix and are not as hardened as they will be after the next winter season. However, we believe they work well for smaller rigs. Our camper is shown in some of the photos (not parked in a designated site), and we had no issues getting it in place.
When deciding if a site will fit your setup, please consider the total length of your entire rig, including both your camper and tow vehicle. You cannot park on the circle driveway.

Also known as the Hershey Homestead, our property is home to what we like to call the funny farm. We have lots of kids and all of them are involved in 4h so that means we have lots of animals. Chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks, goats, sheep, pigs, beef, and horses each have a home here as well as dogs and cats. It's rarely quiet but the chorus of sounds you hear can be an interesting mix of the mating calls of the peacocks to the mooing of the cows to the howls of coyotes at night. (And maybe some of our seven kids playing outside ).
As a camper on our property, you are welcome to explore the homestead at your leisure and take in the sights and smells of the farm. A beautiful farm property with a park like setting with flowing creek and easy access to river for shore fishing or swimming to cool off on hot days. Quiet, peaceful atmosphere. We enjoyed seeing the beef cattle and a walk exploring the the woods, where we saw a second creek and many different species of mushrooms. We enjoyed watching the farmer baling his hay and loading it onto the Semi with the giant hook lift. The night sky's were beautiful and filled with a multitude of stars. The nights were oh so quiet as we fell asleep to the babbling creek. Jeff and Karen were most gracious hosts. They were readily available when needed and quietly inconspicuous when not needed.
We camped right next to the creek in a grassy area in a tent. There was a fire pit and firewood available. My 4 year old grandson and I had a great time. He felt so free to roam and explore in complete safety. Can’t wait to visit again for an absolutely stress free break in a safe and quiet environment.

This is a great spot! Dan has RV spaces as well as camping. Some amenities are still in progress, but it’s going to be even better when the bathrooms and shower house are finished. But there is a very clean port-a-potty available. We were camping, so had a nice space just above the parking/RV pad. Fresh water and power was really convenient. There’s an awesome community building with covered picnic tables, beer, and ice cream. I definitely recommend Dan’s!!!

We were very happy with all of the amenities that this camp site provided. The concrete pad was perfect for our 23' camper. The electrical, water, and especially the sewer hookup were great. We loved the campfire area by the lake. It had a grill for cooking and chairs provided too. The dock has a bench which was nice for enjoying the beautiful view and listening to the loons. We didn't have much luck with fishing off of the dock - it's quite weedy. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, and look forward to coming back! Jenifer is a great host!!

This was the perfect little getaway for my husband and I with our dog! It was quiet and even though the 2 neighboring properties were closer than I expected from the photos, that didn’t bother us one bit. The lake was gorgeous to take the paddle board on, the campfire are was cozy and perfect, and the place was very clean. We had the place to ourselves! The running creek was so relaxing to listen to, and my kids enjoyed wading in it. The host was quick to respond and as accommodating as they could be from afar. Was very pleased and will stay again!

What a beautiful property! We loved camping in an oak grove in the fall time - golden and heavenly! The lake was beautiful, and even though it's the weather wasn't conducive to swimming, we thoroughly enjoyed reading on the dock. Everything about the site was as described and made camping with our 34' fifth wheel a breeze. We will be back!

We enjoyed our stay at Jenifer's wonderful property immensely. Setup is easy - even with a larger rig. It's so easy to get caught up and loose track of time watching what all the natural surroundings have to offer - absolutely beautiful and so relaxing!

Love it here! It was our second time and will be back. The lot is so nice and such a great location. Awesome trail just a mile down the road and so much to do in Trego and Spooner. Definitely check out Strongman Smokehouse and brewery!
