Ultra private secluded island paradise located on lovely Madeline Island with 300 feet of lakeshore and stunning views of the coveted North Channel. Seven of the 22 Apostle Islands are in view on a clear day and not one electric light is visible from the property at night. Enjoy dramatic fog while you sip your morning coffee, frequent sailboat regattas during the day, and stunning double sunsets as they reflect across over 5 miles of open water. (ps. this reflective effect is also in play for the northern lights if you're lucky) Amenities: ZERO! Well, other than two fire pits and a propane grill (BYO propane if you want to use that) Expect a lumpy lawn with space for up to 8 tents located right on top of a 100 foot cliff leading straight down to lake superior. If needed, showers, bathrooms, etc. are located 1.2 miles away at Big Bay Town Park. (no entry fee required) There you can also find the best beach on the island and canoes for rent if you'd like to explore the massive lagoon behind it chalk full of fish. Pack in, pack out. Enjoy!

On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been unused since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north into the national forest. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site. There is no leash required for good pups. If your pup is aggressive with other dogs or people please leash them when on the hiking trails. If your pups would stay in your campsite no leash is required. Other campers may be hiking past your campsite on the trails that is still over 100 feet away from others campsites. You may run into others on the trails where others dogs may not be leashed. If your dog is aggressive to other dogs even if yours is on leash if you can’t control them please muzzle them. This property is for sale if you may be interested. Please ask and I’ll send you the details.

Escape to Superior Beach Camp and immerse yourself in the beauty and privacy of a cleared camping area situated above 500' feet of sand and pebble beach on the world’s greatest lake. Agate campsite is very generously sized and is all yours. Surrounded by a mix of poplar and birch with a few white pine sprinkled in, the main camp area is set back from the lake atop a 70' bluff with peekaboo views of Lake Superior. A short walk down a private path from your campsite gives you access to a beautiful Lake Superior beach to swim, skip rocks, search for agates, or just enjoy the panoramic views of the lake and the town of Duluth on the opposite shore. Agate campsite previously featured a "look out point" that has been altered by the natural erosion of the red clay banks that comprise much of Lake Superior's south shore. While you can still access this area, doing so will require more effort and care, and we no longer allow camping on the point. Superior Beach Camp located is 2.5 hours north of the Twin Cities and perfectly positions you to discover all the wonders of the Twin Ports. Explore this amazing area or stay at camp, set up your chair in the sand and take in the many moods of Mother Superior. Watch the ships come and go to the sparkly backdrop of Duluth’s city lights. The crackle of a driftwood fire on the beach provides the perfect soundtrack as you watch for shooting stars and the aurora. Stock up on supplies and explore the charming industrial town of Superior, WI – 15 minutes from your campsite. Spend a day mountain biking the Duluth Traverse and touring the the wonderful local dining and tap room scenes of Duluth and Superior. Canal Park, downtown Duluth, is a 25 minute drive. If you’d like to venture further, you could meander up the North Shore. Or keep it local and check out Bayfield and the Apostle Islands – only 75 minutes East. Stop through the charming lakeside village of Cornucopia on your way. Or perhaps you’d like to experience world class trout fishing on the Brule River a half hour from Superior Beach Camp. Maybe Parks are your thing: Amnicon Falls, one of Wisconsin’s most beautiful State Parks, is reachable in 10 minutes by car. Drive a half hour further to Pattison State Park and take in Wisconsin’s tallest waterfall. On the Minnesota side, the magic of Jay Cooke State Park is 30 minutes west (and puts you on the doorstep of legit white water rafting). Whether you're looking for solace and relaxation in a blissful [great] lakeside setting or simply seeking a convenient place to rest your head while exploring the many adventures a stone’s throw from your campsite, there is something for everyone who camps here. Superior Beach Camp is a clean, quiet, peaceful, primitive setting. We appreciate that our campers help us keep it this way; remember to pack in any supplies or provisions you need, and leave no trace when you depart so our next guests can enjoy a clean campsite.

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, what a unique name and deservedly so as the forest itself is as diverse and attention getting as it’s namesake! The deep northwoods of Wisconsin offers a ton of hiking, biking, and camping to get stoked about; there’s 800 miles of hiking trails alone. But if you’re looking for a truly unique outdoor experience, try offroading or cross country skiing old military roads in the winter. There’s stunning Lake Superior views from St. Peter’s Dome and 70 foot Morgan Falls is sure to cool you off on a hot summer day. We dig the Quartz Trail where you can see giant quartz deposits discovered by the Native Americans who used to inhabit the area. There’s plenty of camping options to make this a wilderness weekend (or more) and with over 1.5 million acres to explore, we doubt you’ll be running out of rad things to discover!

Located just down from Bayview Beach, our property sits nestled between Lake Superior and the Onion River, which runs through the property just behind the cabin. You will have a private beach on Lake Superior all to yourself. While neighbors may be around from time to time, especially on weekends, you will not have to share anything but the sound of waves hitting the shore and birds chirping as the sun sets in the west. You can set up a tent by the cabin or on the beach side in the grass or sand areas—or even on the beach itself if you'd like to catch a sunrise. There is also room for an RV, teardrop trailer, or camper van, if that's what you'd like to bring. A fire ring and firewood are provided, along with some chairs. Kayaks are available upon request, but you are responsible for safe operation and for understanding when weather conditions are not suitable for their use. At this time, the cabin is not included or open for use, nor is there power available for outside hookups. There is no running water (besides the river and Lake Superior), and no toilets on site. However, you will pass public toilets on your way in—they are roughly 90 seconds away by car. Otherwise, you are responsible for bringing a camp toilet. Pets are welcome but must be leashed when others are around and well-behaved. Please dispose of waste properly and respect the natural surroundings. We've had this property since my siblings and I were kids, so please be respectful of the property and neighbors and treat others as you would like to be treated in return. You should not be bothered by anyone. Please practice pack-in/pack-out and clean up after yourselves. Beyond that, nearby attractions include the city of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands, a short 15-minute drive away. Bayfield, Wisconsin, is a breathtaking destination that serves as the gateway to the Apostle Islands. Whether you are seeking adventure on the water, a peaceful retreat in nature, or a taste of local charm, this lakeside gem has something for everyone. Here is an overview of the area and some top attractions to add to your itinerary: Must-Visit Attractions & Activities: • Apostle Islands National Lakeshore: You cannot miss this stunning archipelago. Explore the 21 islands and mainland sea caves by kayak, water taxi, or scenic cruise. It is arguably the most iconic experience in the region. • Madeline Island: Just a short scenic ferry ride from Bayfield, this is the largest of the Apostle Islands. Visit Big Bay State Park for hiking trails and sandy beaches, or explore the shops and eateries in the village of La Pointe. • Orchards & Berry Farms: Bayfield is often called the "Berry Capital of Wisconsin." Depending on the season, you can spend an afternoon picking strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or apples at one of the many family-owned farms overlooking Lake Superior. • Hiking & Waterfalls: The region is a hiker’s paradise. Check out the Meyers Beach Sea Caves Trail for cliffside views, or explore hidden gems like Lost Creek Falls near Cornucopia. • Big Top Chautauqua: For a unique cultural experience, catch a concert or performance under the "Big Blue Tent." It’s a venue that blends live music with the natural beauty of the Northwoods. • Mt. Ashwabay Ski & Recreation Area: In winter, enjoy downhill skiing, snowboarding, and fat biking on groomed trails. In warmer months, it offers scenic hiking and views. • Local Flavors & Artisans: After a day of exploring, head into downtown Bayfield for fresh-caught whitefish, locally crafted cider or spirits, and charming independent bookstores and art galleries. Thank you, and we look forward to hosting you!

Next time you find yourself on Minnesota’s scenic Highway 61, do everything you can to pull over for the stunning views at Gooseberry Falls State Park. The region has been a seat of human activity on the north shore of Lake Superior since at least 1670, and it’s no wonder—the river gorge carved out of ancient rock and five many-tiered waterfalls will literally take your breath away, and developed modern camp sites provide comfort and ease so you can spend more time exploring.Bike the paved Gitchi-Gami trail, or hike any of the connector paths to the Superior Hiking Trail system. Pack some sammies and enjoy the Picnic Flow area, situated on an ancient lava flow that provides great views of Lake Superior. Check out the historic rustic granite structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, whose design was overseen by Italian stonemasons and is very colorful. With so much to do, it’s worth it to invest in the year pass if you live nearby—for Minnesotans, the first time at Gooseberry is never the last.

Welcome to Happy Creek Hollow, previously called Camp Blue Rock, your cozy hideaway in the north woods! We’re thrilled to share our little slice of heaven—30 private acres perfect for makin’ unforgettable memories. There’s now a small cabin on the property (not available for rent), but the campsite remains open for camping with your travel trailer or tent. We’ve spruced up the site to make your campin’ experience even comfier. Got questions before ya book? Just holler—I’d love to chat! Your campsite is a one-of-a-kind retreat, surrounded by wild, untouched woods with no neighbors in sight. Close to the road but tucked away private-like, you’ll have the whole 30 acres to yourself. There’s plenty of room for tents or a camper. There is a small pond in the campsite area (great frog catching says my 7-year-old). Spend your days trompin’ through the trees, sittin’ ‘round the campfire, or explorin’ the Penokee Mountain range’s rugged beauty. For the adventurous, a private trail leads to Happy Creek Flowage, a 10-acre lake ‘bout a half-mile hike away (30 minutes round-trip on foot). It’s a bit of a trek—expect hilly, mountainous terrain—but a paddle boat awaits for a peaceful float. We are working on getting a dock back there but until then expect to wear high boots or to get wet walking to the paddle boat. There is no public access, so it’s all yours! ATVs or wheelers can also zip along the trail for faster fun. The area’s brimming with summer adventures—fishin’, hikin’, foragin’, golfin’, or ATV ridin’ on nearby trails. Copper Falls State Park, just 6.5 miles north, offers stunnin’ views, while Drop Tine restaurant in Cayuga (3.5 miles south) serves up a mean fish fry and burgers.
