Previously a 100 acre century farm, this fertile land was tended to by generations of old time farmers. Their dairy cows pastured in areas which we now graze sheep. The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects.The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. They keep busy planting/tending trees, making hay, moving fence for grazing animals, operating a farm business called Twin Folk Farms (pastured meat, camps, etc), and raising their families.Learn more about this land:- This site is at the edge of a restored quarry, sheep pasture, and wooded hillside.- The site is tucked down a flat mowed path, so it feels very private and protected. - You can hike up a path to the sheep pasture. Sometimes sheep are there, sometimes elsewhere on the farm. You can hike the other direction and check out the restored quarry. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore.- You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles.- There's a Mississippi river boat launch a few miles down the road, so feel free to park your boat at the bottom of the quarry driveway.- The Hay Creek riding trails are 25 minutes away, so contact us if you want to set up a place in the quarry to park your horses and trailer for the night. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. We loved staying on Candace’s land! Our kids and dogs felt right at home. It was upscale tent camping. We had a great outdoor fire for breakfast, dinner, and s’mores and a great indoor fire to keep us warm on the cool fall nights. The beds were comfortable - especially when you’re used to a tent and a camping pad! And the house heated up so nicely. It was really nicely stocked - we normally bring tongs, spatula, etc. but there were some hung on the cabin which was a nice touch. It was really nice not to get service for a few days, enjoy the scenery, and bum around local towns. We’d absolutely stay again. ❤️

Darla and her husband were super friendly and excellent hosts. They were kind enough to let us fill our water tank at their house/barn and we got to meet some of their animals. Our dog even got to check out a chicken for the first time. The site itself was very secluded, in a bit of small valley with a hill on three sides and long curved path leading up. The tent area and cabin were both rented out while we were there but we never saw any sign of them. Our site and everywhere we walked was nice thick grass except for the gravel quarry and hills in/out. A few tips (not complaints): The gravel road down from the highway was narrow and steep so much better to arrive in the daylight if possible. It is a straight shot and empties into a big flat quarry field so no danger of getting lost or anything, just less uncomfortable if you can see everything. Our camper and truck combo was right at the edge of their recommended length, so getting in and settled to the site was a challenge. That's on us, not on them. If I had to do it again, I probably would have driven into the quarry and backed down the path instead of my 27-point turnaround effort in the site. A smaller camper (and/or more experienced driver) would have been better suited to layout. As mentioned in the site description, you could hear some road noise but usually just loud motorcycles or trucks that seemed to have their Jake brakes on. Totally disappeared inside the camper.

Very beautiful property and nice location! There was enough space for 4 adults, 5 kids, and 2 dogs to spread out. Highly recommend ordering the breakfast sausage, as it was fantastic! The farm animals were a great treat for everyone and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. With that, the toilet situation does get stinky after 2 days and you should come prepared with toilet paper. Be VERY careful driving in to the property. The entry hill to the property is very steep and uneven and the final ascent to the campsite is even more steep. SUVs will do fine, but mini vans struggle. Ask for an alternate route into camp if you're concerned.

I had a peaceful night stay at this excellent little spot just a short drive off the highway. Tricia was kind and courteous (sorry about driving the wrong way!). I stayed on site 3 and the campsite was private, comfortable and very quiet despite being just off the main road. All of the amenities and setup were exceptionally thought out. Will absolutely be swinging by here again.

Clean, safe, peaceful, serene. We like to camp mostly, but we decided to leave the tent at home. The cabin is great because it doesn’t have electricity and running water— it maintains the adventure and rustic feeling of camping while proving a beautiful sleeping and living space in an amazing valley. The other good thing is that there isn’t really cell service— perfect place to disconnect. My wife and I had a wonderful time just being together without any screens between us. This truly is one of the last best places out there.

Weekend Trip to Camp Crimson Turtle

There were some truly magical moments here—the sunset over the pond was stunning, and the nighttime sounds of nature were beautifully undisturbed. I found two perfect trees for my hammock in the shade, and the outdoor shower was a refreshing touch. Communication with the host was fantastic—super responsive both before and during my stay, which made things much easier. I appreciated being able to order firewood ahead of time. Most of the wood by the fire pit was damp, but the dry bundle that was included burned hot enough to get the rest going. A few things did take away from the natural vibe: the pond was too algae-filled to swim comfortably, and the plastic jugs, random porch clutter, and a rusted table and chair disrupted the wild aesthetic. Highway noise was noticeable at times, and it took a minute to figure out which gate to use. Still, if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with some real beauty and don’t mind a little rustic imperfection, this spot delivers.

2 nights at Serenity Valley

We had a great stay at the Serenity Valley cabin! It’s a beautiful and very comfortable spot - a double bed on the first floor with a cozy fireplace, a couple of chairs and a cot. The host also left a lantern, first aid kit, additional trash bags, toilet paper and paper towels. Upstairs in the small loft area are two extra beds but it was way too hot up there during our stay. Out in the porch there is a couple more places to sit and a big table that helps with any food prepping + some basic cooking utensils (metal spatula, tongs, etc). Loved waking up to all the birds singing and watching the fireflies right outside at nightime! The hosts generosity, recommendations about activities onsite and surrounding areas and comfortable amenities make this place a step up from your regular camping. The fireplace was our favorite spot, 10/10 would recommend!

Weekend Trip to Wildwood RV Park & Campground

We loved tent camping at wildwood. We loved the privacy of the camping area and closeness to the pool. The events were fun too! I forgot my glasses in the bathroom and called them when I got home and they went out of their way to go look for them and found them. Will definitely go back!
